Thanks again all, Dad's still doing pretty good. Talked to him on my lunch break, he's good, just annoyed that the Rifleman wasn't on today:laughing:, was looking forward to his "dusters"

Just me and the girls tonight, Jo went to babysit for my brother, they're going to repay us likewise next weekend. Going to bake up some cookies, and watch movies on a cold gusty night. On tap for tonight, Ichabod and Mr Toad, Disneyland Happy Haunts, and Disney's House of Villians. Tomorrow might be Haunted Mansion, Tower of Terror and Nightmare before Christmas, maybe the First Pirates too....

Afternoon all!

Hope your teams win this week (unless they're playing mine)! Anyway...

Thought I would officially speak up and apply for membership!

Welcome!!!

Welcome, Dale!

Ditto, Brent!

Sighhh.... :confused3

There's a lot viruses and strep going around. If she's not at least plateau'ing in a day, or if she misses more than a day of school, take her back. She deserves a rapid strep test.

On a side note, our hospital is having mandatory flu vaccines for staff this year. As in, if you don't get a shot, you're fired. Literally.*

*waivers for certain medical conditions.

Despite a conservative/liberatarian streak (or at least as conservative as a Jesuit educated boy gets), I'm actually for this. Kids under 6 months can not get immunized and that accounts for about a quarter of our patients. We had a couple of hospital-acquired flu cases last year, one who did very poorly. They probably caught the infection from their parents/visitors, but it'll be nice to say this year that no one caught it from us!

But funny story about this. At a meeting this week, a guy who runs the Injury Prevention Program at a neighboring hospital had just finished giving his report on all the good works they are doing with the distracted driving program, gun buy-back for the inner-city, etc, when the mandatory flu vaccine program came up. He started railing about how this is a free country, no one can force him to do anything, etc.....then someone (wish it was me), pointed out the irony of him starting all these invasive state programs and railing against another invasive privately-funded program. Sure shut him up! I've been laughing about it for days! :rotfl2:

She has kept down 2 popsicles so far and here temp has gotten down to at least 100. They gave us, um how do I say this, medicine that goes in back there. She was throwing up her oral meds.

Welcome Dale. Don't let all these jokers fool you. Just send everyone a Dole Whip and/or bacon and you're in.

Sorry to hear that Dave. Would not wish that on my worst nemesis, much less their child. Suppositories stink, but if they make her feel better, then it is worth it. They also have a way to compound phenergan so you can rub it on her belly (make sure you wear gloves). You need a script from doc and pharmacy that will do it.

Well, talked with my friend the other day. He is no longer a Disney hater. He had a great time at Hollywood studios. He loved riding Star Tours, RRNC, Lights, Motors, Action and TOT. He missed the backlot tours, which I think he would have liked the sound stage as well. He even mentionned returning next year, conditioned upon the free dining. It's a step in the right direction.

I SUPPOSe IT could be said outright OR You could just allude to what it does. Glad she seems to be doing a little better.

Suppository comments always make me think of futurama.

F <looking at a giant pill> I can't swallow that
P Good News....its a suppository.

Welcome back! Sounds like you did a very good job as a Disney emmisary.

Wow...that puts things into perspective. Audrey gets sick and fevers often, 2-3 times a year, but we've never had to go .......that route. Hope she is feeling better real soon. Good reason why we have freezies in the freezer 24/7

Hey foks... just got back from a nice date night with the wife. We did dinner and a movie - kid free.

We saw 50/50. Who knew you could make a heart wrenching story about a patients struggle with Cancer into a comedy! >> :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 << Two big thumbs up!

For dinner we went to The Keg Steakhouse, it's kinda like Le Cellier but without the Cheddar soup.

this i agree im not good with this stuff fully but i can say all these companies you sit and listen to there whinning about no money and the real trith if they had no money they would be out of business .
?? are you guys putting anything in towards medical yet ??
this was a 2 day battle alone and we are still paying Zero towards ours .

We still pay zero towards medical (beside the $20 copay Dr visit), the only thing we pay is Union dues as of now:woohoo:Since I had a early start date my family is also included in the plan:goodvibes, Who knows what will happen in the weeks to come:confused3

Morning, guys!

Hope your daughter had a better night, David!

Morning all.

DD slept through most of the night. Thanks for all the well wishes.

Now I need to prepare mentally for watching the Colts play :scared1:

I haven't mentioned the DisDads specifically. This was a calculated choice. I am not sure who judges the applications and I didn't want to mention the DIS specifically in case there's someone judging who has a poor opinion of these boards. :confused3 You just never know, so I was playing it safe.

On one of the round 2 questions, I only used 99 of the 100 words-limit. I actually considered just putting the word "bacon" at the end just for kicks! But then... what if a vegetarian was reading it??? :rotfl2:

Rest assured, if for some reason I am ever actually chosen to participate in the panel... I will represent DDC (and bacon) proudly!!

Do they only take new applicants during a specific time frame, where do we apply?

Yes, every september is when the first round is opened for a week (or 20k applicants, whichever first) The second round has generally been in Oct. for another week. and then the 3rd round in early November.

I'll be sure to remind everyone next year. The more dads we get to apply, the better our chances of getting some on the panel.

Gentlemen (am I allowed to use that term in this forum?),

I've been lurking for a week or so and thought I would finally say hello and join in the fun.
