A funny thing about seeing myself on video... with my left ear sticking out a little more since the surgery, and my left eye appearing to be partially closed by the facial tics/spasms I am still having... I looked a lot like Sloth from The Goonies!! :rotfl2::lmao:

sloth1-300x261.jpg

Sadly, I don't own the movie or else I would pop it in the DVD player and watch right now!

Quick, someone get this guy a Baby Ruth bar!

thanks for the welcome and hope your father many pixies for a quick recovery:wizard:

Brent prayers going out to your Dad, hope everything turns out well:goodvibes

Brent, we will pray for your father :grouphug:

DD woke up at 4 this morning with a fever and slight vomiting. When ever she has a fever she does this. Heading to the immediate care at 8 this morning so they can check her throat. Wish us luck.

Thanks all, he was fine last night, showed off his chemo bottle to his entourage at the game as usual, I said it was just rye and ginger ale:lmao: We will see once it really kicks in how he feels, I think it'll take a couple of days. He certainly isn't letting it get him down.

Hope your daughter feels better soon, Saturdays Sick really sucks..

Our Union contract runs out tomorrow, the companies filed for a 2 week extension:scared1: I was kind of hoping to be on strike so we could get another VA weekend in before Holloween:confused3, I'd be surprised if any kind of strike occurs, In 24 years we only went on strike once, Our Union covers most of the supermarkets in 1/2 of NJ and some of NY, everyone has to eat so it gets takin care of pretty quick:woohoo:

Man I hate contract time. We are union too, and we came to the 11th hour last time to a strike. (literally, it was around 11pm when a deal was struck). I really can't afford to be off work, so I was glad it settled. I think in 2013 we are back to the table. The day before the strike day was the craziest at work, while everyone was in a panic they wouldn't get booze. We did more sales then Christmas!

Welp, on that note, I'd better get on to work and prep for the usual Weekend Masses:sad2:

That's what they say every contract:scared1:, I'm now what they call a Short Timer, since I have most of my years of service in, (got a little over 6yrs for the 30 mark:woohoo:) When the last contract came out they changed the 30 and out to 30 years & 55yrs old, I could have been out of there at 49 ( still trying to go that route:woohoo:) you would think they would want you to leave after 30yrs to save money, but i guess it's not the case:confused3
this i agree im not good with this stuff fully but i can say all these companies you sit and listen to there whinning about no money and the real trith if they had no money they would be out of business .
?? are you guys putting anything in towards medical yet ??
this was a 2 day battle alone and we are still paying Zero towards ours .

late-night check in.

Been a super busy day. Of course I waited until the very last minute to put together my application for the MP that needed to be submitted at 11:59pm ET. And of course I couldn't just talk straight into a camera for the video portion. I had to spend the what little free time I had this morning and afternoon editing together a slideshow to play in my TV that would be over my shoulder in the frame.

So while I was recording my idiotic self on video, my camcorder decided to act up. I had stopped down to check a take I did and when I flipped it back to record mode, I was getting a double-image. I power-cycled, changed all the settings, but couldn't get rid of it. Wasn't just the viewfinder or screen, it was recording like that too. I was starting to think I would need to use DW's flip cam or my phone...but I decided to let the camera rest. So I went out to dinner and when I came back it was working again... for a while. Same thing happened. Played back a clip and when I flip back into record mode, there's the double image. UGH!!! So i set it down, and keep checking back. Finally, it was working again and I decided not to check any takes, and to just keep recording until I got one I liked, and then get at least one more safety after that. That took me up until about 8pm.

I then had to help put kids to bed, and DW decided DD's room needed a complete cleaning. So I had to assist, and then somehow when the phone rang it became just me doing it.... finished it up and got DD to bed, it was9:30pm

I spent the next two hours wording and re-wording my responses to the written questions, stopping every so often to look at the videos and narrow down those. At 11:30, I had selected the least horrible video, trimmed it, and converted it to an acceptable format and file size. At 11:45, I was about to hit "submit" when I decided to change a sentence in one of my answers. By the time I finished re-working that one, it was 11:54!!! I quickly copy and pasted the answers into Word to get back-up on spelling and grammar. Then I gave one last read through, and hit submit! 11:56! and then the "file uploading bar" appeared!! :scared1:

Thankfully, the file uploaded in just about 20 seconds. I was taken to a confirmation page and I got a confirmation email... So... I made it!! with about 2 1/2 minutes to spare! :lmao::rotfl2:

Hey all! Just finished a 9 mile run, getting my mileage up for the marathon in January. Starting to get excited about our trip... :cool1:

DD just has a virus, no strep(?). We are at home resting and she is playing Harry Potter on the Wii with her sister while I work on our trip.

"Slight" vomiting? Sorry, either there is stuff coming up and out or there isn't - I don't don't think there can be a "slight" vomiting.
Actually, it sounds exactly like what Evan had on Monday/Tuesday of this week. Fever, vomiting, sore throat. Doc thought it was strep, but the test came back negative. 26 hours or so later and he was completely back to normal. Hope your DD feels better soon.

Brent - same with your dad. Prayers are going out.

Afternoon all!

Hope your teams win this week (unless they're playing mine)! Anyway...

Thought I would officially speak up and apply for membership!

Welcome Dale! (And thanks for the logo submissions). Emma's Dad should be around shortly to assign you your number.

You'll need to fill out an application form in triplicate, and await the next enrollment cycle which is on the 2nd Tuesday in April, except on leap years then it's the 3rd Tuesday. At which time you will face the first set of interviews, background checks, and police screenings. If you successfully pass that, then you face the written portion, and must provide blood and dna samples. Oh, and membership dues are collect bi-weekly.

Unless of course your first name is one of Disney's chipmunks, then you can join right away, and forgo the entire process.

:welcome: to the DISDads

Almost forgot how arduous our initiation process was. Completely worth it though... :rotfl:

Glad to hear.

Tell us about the process. Initial Application? Types of questions in the second round? What you did in your video? Did you mention us DISDads?

I haven't mentioned the DisDads specifically. This was a calculated choice. I am not sure who judges the applications and I didn't want to mention the DIS specifically in case there's someone judging who has a poor opinion of these boards. :confused3 You just never know, so I was playing it safe.

On one of the round 2 questions, I only used 99 of the 100 words-limit. I actually considered just putting the word "bacon" at the end just for kicks! But then... what if a vegetarian was reading it??? :rotfl2:

Rest assured, if for some reason I am ever actually chosen to participate in the panel... I will represent DDC (and bacon) proudly!!

Now to your question about the process...

Ditto, Brent!

DD just has a virus, no strep(?).

Sighhh.... :confused3

There's a lot viruses and strep going around. If she's not at least plateau'ing in a day, or if she misses more than a day of school, take her back. She deserves a rapid strep test.

On a side note, our hospital is having mandatory flu vaccines for staff this year. As in, if you don't get a shot, you're fired. Literally.*

*waivers for certain medical conditions.

Despite a conservative/liberatarian streak (or at least as conservative as a Jesuit educated boy gets), I'm actually for this. Kids under 6 months can not get immunized and that accounts for about a quarter of our patients. We had a couple of hospital-acquired flu cases last year, one who did very poorly. They probably caught the infection from their parents/visitors, but it'll be nice to say this year that no one caught it from us!

But funny story about this. At a meeting this week, a guy who runs the Injury Prevention Program at a neighboring hospital had just finished giving his report on all the good works they are doing with the distracted driving program, gun buy-back for the inner-city, etc, when the mandatory flu vaccine program came up. He started railing about how this is a free country, no one can force him to do anything, etc.....then someone (wish it was me), pointed out the irony of him starting all these invasive state programs and railing against another invasive privately-funded program. Sure shut him up! I've been laughing about it for days! :rotfl2:
