Beverly busy so not much time to post recently but I have been trying to keep up.

Looks like a lot of you guys were doing the same thing that I was this past weekend with dance recitals. DD15 and DD4 both performed this year and did a great job. I really wish that their recital was as organized as some that I see you guys describing here.

Ours is a two night event (Friday and Saturday) with Thursday being dress rehearsal. There is a rule against video taping or photography on the nights of the recital so you are supposed to do that on Thursday night. This never stops people from doing it anyway on those nights. Additionally, since there are no ushers, many of the friends-of-dancers will hoop and holler every time someone they know is about to begin their performance. It gets really loud. We need some enforcers!

It's over until September, then the madness will all start again. DD13 says that she wants to get back in to it next year... :scared::faint:

tickets are $14.00 each. each family is required to buy 12 of them. our video is $40 but there is 4 hour plus of dance on it. they allow video recording at dress reher. which is just like the recital. same lighting, back drop everything. they dont allow it at the recital for a few reasons. one, while your holding your camcorder up to video your little girl, the lady behind you cant see hers.the main reason is we dont know who you are, were you came from, if you really have a kid in the recital and what you are video taping and for what reason. so its easier just having to video tapping at all. if you would pull out a camcorder at ours, during your taping, the only thing your gonna get is three ushers telling you your not allowed to video and in most cases one will stand in front of the camera. we havnt had anyone try it in about 3 years now. evey parents signs a contract with the studio at the begining of each season with the rules and cost. there are no suprises with how much anything cost before you start. we had a guy try to video tape hes dd and was asked nicely to put it away and it turned into him yelling at the owners husband oin front of 1200 people. they guy said, were not coming back here next year!! the owner said great, we dont want you back, thats fine.:lmao: she had a comp. mom grumble about the cost of the make up kit. signed the contract, knew the cost up front, she tells you if for any reason you cant do this, please go to another studio. we had a comp. girl on dd tap team decide the second comp was to far away and didnt how up. she no longer tapped on that team. it wasnt fair to the other 6 girls that showed up.

You do it the right way, with all of the up-front costs made available to the parents. We were informed before signing her up that the recital costume would be $80 - so I did not have any issues with that. That is how they get the big venue. If I would have been informed of the cost of the video at sign-up (and/or the no-recording policy during recital), I would have had the information needed to make a decision on if I would record during the rehearsal or buy the video. In this instance, I did not have that information - hence my rant. (I should have had DW video just DD's part of the recital at rehearsal.) It was not directed towards you - only at the way DD's dance company did their recital - so I hope you did not take it that way. :littleangel:

I guess I am turning into a form of my old man - a cheap Beverly. :rotfl:

I know I'm late to the party but I would love to join the club. We leave for the Wilderness Lodge in 8 Days! I have done all the planning and arrangements myself:banana: Martha Stewart herself would be proud of my planning binder.pirate:

Welcome to the club! Be prepared for the addiction known as the DIS Dad's Club.

Well not sure how I missed this area but glad to have found it!

Disney Dad of 3 here looking forward to spending even more time on the DIS

Welcome! See above. :rotfl2:

:welcome: we expect full trip reports, with photos.

;)

Yes, that is a requirement.

Uh, wait. Maybe I shouldn't talk - I think I still have two chapters left to finish my last trip report. Looks like I will be busy tonight. :lmao:

Congrats to Disney Commando and Cinderella's Fella on the meet up! :thumbsup2

Did I see somewhere that a Bush Gardens meet was trying to be planned for sometime this summer???

theres alot of them in the lehigh valley!!! alot of people from ny live here and im an hour and 15 min. from philly or new york. so were more in the middle. and its fun to crank up philly fans.:lmao: baseball wasnt as fun for years only the eagles. :lmao:

OIC! I love to root against the Yankees! I can't complain, Philly teams have done a lot of winning recently, just not at the right times. :lmao:

whistling, not humming. Whistling along to fantasia 2000.
:lmao:

Well if you're whistling it's cool. Whistling is very Disney, there's even whole songs about whistling, which kind of doesn't make sense now that I think about it. Anyway whistling is much better than humming.

Hurray: the hotel I'm staying at tonight has taken a step to emulate Disney the leader in the hospitality industry.

Boo: The step they took was selecting Nescafe as their coffee vendor.

Double: Boo I found the Disney store in London, but I was late for a meeting so I didn't get to go into it.

Triple Boo: While running to said meeting I dropped my iphone and the screen shattered.

Final hurray: Checked the crowd calendar for our DL dates and it's all 4s and 5s

Where I'm from, rooting against the Yankees is inherited. I actually just watched 4 nights in October on espn with DD3, and explained to her why we love the Red Sox (they're good people), and why we hate the Yankees( they kick puppies for fun).... She's a yankeee hater now too!;)

To complete the whole stalker thing are you wearing a trenchcoat or humming? If you're humming might I suggest something by the police.

:lmao: direct what towards me?:lmao: i would be ranting to if i were you.:lmao: the only fit i had is when we went to new york so she could buy her tap shoes a few years ago. those things were $400.00!!! and if a had a nickle for every pair of pantyhose and eye lashes ive bought in 15 years, i could retire!!!:lmao: she did point for a few years also. those things i had to buy 2 pair a year also. she would go up on her toes and it looked like she pulled them behind the car.:lmao: she had alot of fun and it kept her busy through the years. most years she was at the studio 5 days a week. shes gonna miss it.:thumbsup2
