:thumbsup2 glad you guys could meet up!!! as long as you dont hit sept27th through the oct 8th, sept, oct would be a good time for us.

reciatal?, meaning one? no es???? we have one this friday night, one sat. noon, one sat night and one sunday at noon. this is recital #15 years in a row for me. what i did 8 years ago, i became an usher!!! :thumbsup2 go ahead, roll your eyes but hear me out. while you are sitting in a seat in the aud. for 4 hours, sitting behind some lady who took a bath in perfume, watching hours of ballet, iam walking around, eating hotdogs in the back and talking to the other usher dads. (we have a union now!):lmao: if you ever watch eveybody loves raymond? same with frank barone being an usher at church, hes there every sunday,(im there every show) wife cant get on his back for not going and hes there serving the lord, hes just doing it from the box suite!:lmao: im there every show, being a great dad at the dance recital, wife cant get on my back and im doing it from the box seat stuffin by face full of hotdogs and chips!:lmao: and the enertainment!!!! every other year the cops show up!! it seems some adults can get along with exwifes, husbands, new wifes husband in the same place. not even in an aud. that holds 1500 people for 4 hours. sad but true. we had two women rolling around, pulling each others hair out in the lobby a few years ago. exwife and new wife. luckly, most of the kids and parents were either in the aud. or behind stage so they didnt see there parents act like 3 year olds. but let me tell you, it took 2 boro cops, one state trooper and an off duty county sher. to drag them apart.:sad2: but for the most part, its uneventfull.

This was recital #7 for us. This year, first time, we had both shows. The older children go 1 to 3:30 and younger children 4:30 to 6:00. My oldest had 4 dances (3 in 1st show) and youngest had 2 in second show. It is just as crazy at ours. To prevent children from being abducted, sign out process is in place. DW helps with that process and said she was called a "c" and "b" mostly yesterday. No police called yet. The recital is in our fancy art center, so I can't volunteer unless I join the dance theatre and help other events (not going to happen). My dds love it, so I guess I'm stuck there another 10 years. And, why do women and men have to wear so much perfume or cologne? Take a dang shower.

I left the house Friday morning after about 3 hours of sleep and I think I literally worked myself sick. Dad came and took the tractor for me at lunch time so I could go home and eat. I felt tired (obviously) but got home and started shivering (it was 95 degrees.) I made sure to drink plenty and ate a little more than I normally would eat for lunch, thinking I maybe just hadn't been eating enough the last couple of days and went back to the field feeling better. I worked until about 2 hours before my cousin's graduation and by that time I felt absolutely fatigued and my body ached from head to toe. I got home and just wanted to lay down for a little bit, but I was dirty so I just walked in the door and laid down on the floor. DW came home a little while after I did and she found me laying on the kitchen floor, asleep and shivering. I tried to stand up and got dizzy and almost fell down. She made me take my temp and I had a fever, but I insisted on going to the graduation. We got there I could barely keep myself sitting up through it because I felt so nauseous and dizzy. DW wanted to take me to the ER after the graduation, but I just wanted to go home and rest. We went home and I laid down on the couch and slept for about 13 hours. I woke up Saturday morning after a long, deep sleep and I felt fine, but I hate it when these people that want to tell me I need to slow down because I'm not 20 anymore are right. :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

You gotta look after yourself too. Hopefully some more rest in the future. Take it easy!

DW owns a dance studio and this Saturday is her recital day (2 shows). I end up doing all kinds of tasks so only really sit down to take in the dances that DW, DD, or Dneice are in. It is quite a hectic day but the after party is quite fun and the fact that I get to have normal family evenings for the summer make it worth it. :cool1:

Do your recitals have assigned seating? All of our seats are pre-sold and assigned. I can't recall ever having to call in the police. We are required to pay for onsite security. Usually our biggest issue is whether or not the A/C is on.

how bout carlos takin one like a man!!!! how bout them phightin phillies!:sad2the nationals and now the pirates. i bet the cubs could even take them now. :lmao:

Let's not get too carried away here, Dave. :sad2:

What Barry said. :thumbsup2

Dave, we need to work on picking your trash-talking spots better. You seem to always try to pick on me after the Phillies win, which leaves me going...:confused3

The Eagles are definitely easier targets. :sad2:

Dave your a Usher eeh, I bet Mr Franklin, Grant & Jackson get really good seats:lmao:

i remember my sister-in-law use to burp my nephew that way. thats the way they showed her at the hospital. they said it was better than tossin them over your sholder. i guess chocking i dont remember. what i do remember is my mom having a heart attack everytime she did it. :lmao:
Well that seems logical Dave, but it ruins the visions that I had of child whose first words were "Stop dad".

I've been away for a few days and I'm only 25 pages behind... not bad. I might go back and try to catch up on some of it after I get caught up on TRs. If there is anything of any extreme importance that I've missed please let me know.

I've been busy working on the farm. We finally got some good weather last week and since last Monday evening we've been working hard. I came to work Tuesday and Wednesday and left early to work on the farm until late at night. I took Thursday and Friday off to spend all day working on the farm.

My uncle had an eye surgery for a detached retina a couple of months ago and there were some problems, so they had to redo it. Therefore, he isn't allowed to drive tractors right now, because they don't want him getting jostled around in the tractor until it heals. His oldest son had been working and helping out, but he had just finished HS and his graduation was Friday night. We were all planning to go to his graduation Fri and party on Saturday so I decided to push hard and go late Thursday night and get up early Friday morning to start planting soybeans to make up for the time we were going to be down for his graduation and party. I left the house Friday morning after about 3 hours of sleep and I think I literally worked myself sick. Dad came and took the tractor for me at lunch time so I could go home and eat. I felt tired (obviously) but got home and started shivering (it was 95 degrees.) Anyway, sorry for the long story, but we're making some good progress. Corn is all in the ground and we should be done planting soybeans sometime tomorrow. Still have to spray and apply nitrogen to the corn, so there's plenty of work left to do, but I always feel a little better once the seed is in the ground and we can see some green rows out in the fields. Fingers crossed, but I don't think we fell far enough behind the target planting dates for harvest to be pushed back far enough to effect our vacation dates!

Glad the planting is underway and that your feeling better. Hopefully this means you'll still get to take your trip this Christmas.

Um...hello all. I posted a picture of My Disney Princess in the Princess Pic thread and was redirected here to properly introduce myself.

I am a proud Disney Dad...I stopped reading at #45 of the criteria but am confident I meet a number of the criteria.

My name is Matt and I hail from St. Louis....

I am a divorced Disney dad who took my DD (now 7) to Disney for the first time at age 4 to give her something happy after the divorce rocked her world.

I have 50% custody of my sweet little girl and it works great for her...even better for me, but I would take 100% if I could convince my DX

I have been blessed with meeting a wonderful Dfiancee who has agreed to marry me.....in all places, Disney World. After our magical fairy tale wedding at Disney's Grand Floridian, on September 16th, I will have a Disney SS who is 4 years old and a huge Buzz Light Year Fan.

So, I guess I can be added to the vacation thread 9/11 - 9/18 of 2011 with a change in status on 9/16!!

The fam and I try to go every September.

Great to read through this massive thread and I look forward to participation in the thread!

Matt

I hope that's enough information

Hi, Matt! Welcome! You are member # 606! :thumbsup2

Hi fellas, another new Dis dad to the boards. I meet a number of the criteria in the first post, one of which is listening to Disney podcasts. I will add the disdad podcast to my repertoire ASAP.

I did go to WDW on my honeymoon, but got sick. :sad2: I'm convinced it was a reaction to giving up my bachelorhood and not something I ate/did at Disney. ;)

Thanks for the laughs in this thread!

JD

Hi there, JD! Glad you found us! You are member # 607! :thumbsup2

:welcome: WELCOME TO THE DIS DAD'S CLUB! :welcome:

You have been added to the DIS Dad's Club list :thumbsup2

What the heck is that guy doing with that baby is right?

That was the way my son was most comfortable when he was that age.:rotfl:

You do what you have to if you want them to go to sleep.

dole whips Yuuum!

Ok, even more distracting than buddy carrying his kid like a counter service tray, is that I can't figure out your daughter's t-shirt:confused3.

Completely agree with that. Our son would only sleep when he was vibrating for a portion of his infancy. One night I put him in his car seat and set it on top of a running dryer till he fell asleep. After he was asleep I put the him in his crib, in his car seat. DW was none too pleased at me for that.

Glad you are feeling better and making progress. Sounds like you may have had heat exhaustion.

Carl, that is just mean teasing us with Dole whips. I would be more upset is it were a citrus swirl though. We will let you slide because of the great live feeds. The kids look like they are having a fun time.

Mmmm...Dole Whips....awesome pic, although the guy holding the baby in the background is rather distracting....it just looks funny:lmao:

He’s at the 30…20…15…10…5…TOUCHDOWN! And he spikes the baby.

Andy, glad you got most the planting done and glad you are feeling better. One of the many examples why we need to better appreciate family farmers. Hope you have a great crop.

Hey, did she want to be up with him all night??? He's asleep and safe, I see no problem with that at all! You do what you've got to do!:thumbsup2:lmao:

Yeah, I'm kind of wondering if that's what it was. I thought dehydration at first, but I carry a big water jug with me and I drank at least a gallon of that and a few glasses of iced tea at lunch. I was in an A/C cab most day but it was 95 degrees and being surrounded by glass the A/C didn't do a great job keeping up and then filling up the planter every few hours can be a physical job. Oh well, I'm feeling great today and ready to get back at it again this afternoon after they let me leave work.

Car seat on top of a running dryer, that is tremendous. That one's going on the list for the new one we have coming... Terrific stuff...

Andy...I thought farming was your work...what do you do? For some reason I had it in my mind that you run your own farming business

I am truly glad you guys are enjoying the feed!
I didn't see any brain eating amoebas! Just life aging little 6 year olds! Lol

Tonight I will try to find a good spot with speaker for EWP and wishes stay tuned.. Just to let you guys know the Internet in the rooms so terrible that a live feed day and night is frustrating and too difficult to maintain.

No assigned seats- first come. I think that adds to the frustration. My oldest was an extra in nutcracker and spring performance of Alice in Wonderland, but those had assigned seats. But, we also don't pay for tickets, as she uses recital time for high school company to have performance time as well. My oldest loves dance, and was even paid as a student teacher this year in the 3 year old room. I know there will be many more, but if she is happy and can make a living doing that work, then I think that is great.

Well, I missed checking in this weekend and I am 15 pages behind. If this video has already been posted, then disregard...

Disneyland + XBox360 + Kinect = Awesome

I have a feeling we might be getting an XBox 360, Kinect, and this game for Xmas. :)

I've had Kinect for almost a year now. I was in the beta program. I have to say it's an impressive piece of technology. I've just been waiting for the games to catch up to it. With this and some of the stuff I saw at PAX East this year, it looks like the developers are coming along. ;)

Side note - I got a DisDad number! WOOT! #607 :)
