That definitely sounds like it was a great trip. Can't wait to see the pics.

Congrats to Tim's Huskies. That was probably the ugliest National Championship game, I have ever seen.

It was, but they don't keep track of style points in the win column. Congrats Tim :thumbsup2

:goodvibes
Wow. I leave for a week and y'all close down DDC7 and blow through 70 pages of DDC8!
We had a great week at WDW, even with the rain. We did BTMRR, SpaceMtn x3, SplashMtn x4, TSM x3, ToT x2, RnRc x2, Pirates League, Character Breakfast x2, and O'Hana!
I will try to start a TR soon with pics. (I did sport my DisDads shirt at MK)

I do have a small suprise for the DDC that I will announce soon.

Now, I have to catch up on reading 70 pages of DDC8!:lmao:
Welcome back! I look forward to reading your TR. :thumbsup2

7-8 days is our perfect trip. 5 is too short and 10 is too long. And no, they never feel it is too long, but the whining:fun ratio gets too high for DW and me!
I've never been 10 days... I think the longest I've ever gone has been 6 or 7 days. I'd love to give 10 a try though.

Yes, I will grudgingly admit Congrats! But not enough to get a smilie!
Well, I'll go ahead and congratulate Tim and the UConn Huskies... for now.

We'll just have to see if that banner is still in the rafters 5 years from now.:rolleyes1

And thanks to Chris for hosting the bracket for us... even though mine was done the first weekend when Butler beat Pitt.
:rotfl2::lmao:

The thread definitely has been a little more quiet the last couple days without Stopher around.

Looks like he's gonna have some nice heavy rain down there today. Hope it doesn't ruin his plans for the day.

Congrats to your Huskies Tim....sorry to say I was hoping the underdog would pull it out.

Some how I do not think the rain will stop Stopher :thumbsup2

Man, now that basketball is over (the pros are awful) all we have is baseball, not a bad thing, but how long before the lockout ends :confused3

This raises a question for me. What does everyone feel the ideal trip length is? Our trips are usually in the 4-6 day range. We enjoy it and are always sad to leave. If you do a longer stay, do you or your kids feel like you are kind of done with Disney for a while when you leave?

Our trips are normally seven days but every time we go, it feels that our Siestas are getting chorter and chorter.

We used to always take a day mid-week to sleep in and visit other parts of the resort but there is just too much to do at the parks now. Plus they make going into the parks so appetizing since an extra day at that point only costs a few bucks.

For me it's 9-14...

2009 we had 12 Nights with 6 park days. Considering it's a 10-12 hour drive the first and last night are devoted to travel...minor amounts of Disney...we did DTD after we unpacked...and did one last tour of our resort gift shop when we left. So truthfully we had 10 days-6 parks

2010 we had 8 nights 7 park tickets...however we drove down to Daytona a day earlier for a vist to the DBFM on Sat morning...we arrived at our resort shortly afternoon...by the time we checked-in...unpacked...we made HS by about 3pm with ADR at 6pm.

The 7th park day was added so we could have an off day but still get into the MK for a late ADR at CRT...which when we left that meal the park was empty...was one of our best nights ever at the MK. Everything was a walk on... we did almost every ride in 2 hours...some of them twice.

I would love to be able to be there that long. Where do you normally stay?

We usually like to do 7-10 days. The last few trips we left on a Friday and came back the second Sunday. We miss 6 days of work, but get 10 days vacation by getting both weekends. This upcoming trip we are doing 7 nights - leaving on a Wednesday and coming back the following Wednesday (flights are cheaper on Wednesdays.)

Both 2009 and 2010 I stayed at the Coranado Springs Resort...not that we really want or need a moderate...but being somewhat Pooh-sized we really needed the Queen size beds...and the CSR is the only way to get that without springing for the Deluxe...and I can't do that.

2009 we got 35% off the room rate.
2010 we got free Dining.
TR's for both linked also on first page. Post #4

2011...as you will notice in my ticker...is NOT.

All trips prior to 2009 were offsite...and usually funded on someone elses dollar.

It's really shaping up to be a good year for "new things", with the added bonus that we are getting on some rides DW and I hadn't done since our first trip, mainly because DD1 is finally big enough and wants to try them out. (Kahli for example). We couldn't do Star Tours, Tea Cups, iasw, all due to being down for re-hab last year, so that'll be nice. I'm going to even get back onto "Terror of Tower", mainly cause DD1 wants to try it again, but with me this time....

Not to mention, I REALLY want to experience this.... *spoilers be here*

SHUT THE FRONT DOOR!!! Thats sweet!!! The interactive que, then interactive ghost????!!!!! Thats so awesome!

I have a question about buying tickets....

I have $600 worth of Disney gift cards (thanks to a points program through my employer) that I'm using to buy admission for everyone for our one day trip to MK on the 19th.

Does anyone know if the ticket kiosks accept the gift cards or do I have to go wait in a ticket booth line to purchase them?

I'm just trying to take up as little time as possible to buy them so I'm not wasting any of our day in line for tickets!

I'd love to be able to buy them before hand...but our local disney stores only sell 3 day tickets or longer.

Any advice would be much appreciated!! :thumbsup2

As they've refurbed POFQ they've swapped the beds to queen beds. When we were there a couple of weeks ago most of the resort had been upgraded. Now there is another moderate with queen size beds.

Pro basketball.... :sad2:

I haven't watched a whole NBA game in years... probably not since Reggie Miller retired. I watched a few minutes of the Spurs/Suns game Sunday while flipping channels... I'm not even sure I'd call what I saw basketball.:confused3

I personally am very enthusiastic about baseball season... I love baseball and I'm in a fantasy league here and a money league with friends from college that is even more serious than any fantasy football league I've ever been in. There was an argument in our baseball league and 2 people threatening to quit before we even had our draft this year!:scared1:

About the lockout... well, football is my favorite sport so I hope there is a season. If not, I honestly prefer to watch college football anyway. If the Pac-10 goes through with their idea of playing some Sunday games I'll just watch that... even if it is just the Pac-10 or Pac-12 or whatever.:rolleyes1

OUrs have usually been 7-10. Personally around day 8 or 9 Im done. My kids are starting to get tired and grumpy which does NOTHING for my mood. :scared1: I start feeling like a Disney drone after day 9. MUST...WEAR...SILLY...EARS......:rotfl: So the ideal for me would be 7-8. We are doing 11 total this year with 4 of those being on a ship so that will help!!

Cool...a 2nd option...wonder if WDW accepts Dollywood passes? :confused3

We do 8 days on our trip as well, 7 days in the parks one day of rest at the resort.. Really our trip is 10 days but we do not count trudging through the airport coming and going as our vacation.

Disney commando I noticed on our podcast you made it a point to mention your need or desire to ride the vehicles on main street and meet the mayor. Care to elaborate more on the reasons? I am truly intrigued.
Not that it's strange but I have never heard that mentioned in any touring plan.

You're welcome! It was fun!

I agree. Ron, I'd love to hear more about this.

Also, does anyone have any experience with park closing due to capacity? From reading the interwebs, seems fairly likely during my trip. I think that we'll be okay (our plans are to get there at rope drop every day and we don't do any park hopping to MK or AK in the afternoon)

I cant truely speak for Ron but after meeting him a few times I can say I got a good feel for his thinking lol.
I am going to go out and say that he really just enjoys taking in all the aspects of main street.Main street in its self is like a attraction. It covers all of your 5 senses. It has sight(beautiful view of castle and shops). It has sound ( music and the chatter of the people). It has SMELL ( the smell of the bakery and other shops) It has tastes (again the bakery and some other shops) and finally it has touch ( shops). When you ride down main st in a trolley you get to take in the beauty of it from a different perspective then trying to walk ( and have people bumping into you etc).Ron is the type of guy that likes to see all the little details of the parks. They are not really hidden details cause they are right there on Main st lol.

Let me know if I am close Ron :thumbsup2
