Just got back from a gift auction:cool1:

Out of hundreds of things I could have won, I won something on the Grand Prize Table, guess what it was:confused3

- ipod touch
- handsfree PC hookup
- 4- 1 Day Park Hoppers to WDW
- 36in Flatscreen TV

So just when are you planning to use those newly acquired passes?
Very cool.

Does Uconn still suck??? :lmao:

They do. But now it's only because they're bad people, not bad basketball players (they have been banned from our children's hospital for repeatedly failing to show up after promising to do so)

im ready through what i missed so this topic may be over but the way i did was, take how much the ap was, dvc members and renewals are cheaper, take the length of stay, divid them both into days and see which one was cheaper by the day. we have had aps for awhile. :thumbsup2

Dave, I hadn't realized that DVC gets a discount!

This requires another discussion with DW. It's almost a no-brainer now. For our family, a 7 day park-hopper pass is $1500, while a season pass is $2100! If we do one more trip in 12 months, it really saves. The only other factor that we need to consider is "the burning a whole in our pocket factor" getting us to do more trips!

I have seen some of the posts regarding DVC. In some threads people discuss how it saves them money and others discuss the yearly fees and it sounds extremely expensive. What is the minimum amount for a DVC membership? :surfweb:

Think of it like a pre-paid vacation club (rather than a time share). If you're going to be taking yearly (or < 2 yearly) vacations to Disney, and you have 2-3 kids, then it pays for itself in 5-6 years (less if you're crazy enough to consider 2 rooms!). If you have time, take the tour. They'll pick you up anywhere and drop you off anywhere :cool1: , and they are not hard sell (it sells itself they say). The kids will get ice cream and it's a good break without taking the bus back to the resort. We bought three years ago and never regretted it! :thumbsup2

ownage by mistake!
Went to the zoo yesterday! Philadelphia zoo touts themselves as being the "first zoo in the united states" I was never so disappointed! I am not exaggerating when I say they had maybe 30 animals on display and of those 6 were under vet care!(sick or hurt) I don't think I should be able to count the bones on a rhino! Anyone know where their funding comes from And if they have to be accountable!? Who has been to the zoo where they didn't have an elephant? I am no vet but I could see the ribs of the polar bears!:scared1:
They also combined two or three species in one exhibit!
Anyone know how I can call attention to this without being shot?
My biggest problem with this is one they can't call and complain, they can't get a job to buy their own food, and they didn't ask to be there!

That is really a shame with the Zoo. I haven't been there is a few years. I did hear that the elephants were removed but not sure why. I can only imagine it was due to the lack of room available for them to move around. Hopefully what you saw was a result of the animals just begining to bulk up after the winter and not a result of budget cuts. If thats the case its time to close the Zoo.

well, back from hershey for dd dance comp. they did realy well and i found out that was the last comp. ill see her dance at.:sad1: her last one, i have to work. its our inventory and only a death cert. gets you out of inventory.anyway, it was a great 15 years and she did a great job and had alot of fun doing it.:thumbsup2 i didnt know there was a disney store at hershey. dw got me a present before i got there. im now a proud owner of a farting agent P !!!:lmao:

It must be hard seeing her dance for the last time after all these years. The good thing is that you stuck with it all these years and gave her something to do that she loved and will always remember.

By the way Dave......THE PHILLIES WON!!!

Chris, I did not realize that is why you were anti UConn (or at least in part). I agree with you, UConn Sucks! Nothing worse then breaking the heart of a sick child. I understand that things come up but not repeatedly. There is no excuse for that!

2-0 when starting the season at home for the first time since 1980. Who said the injuries are going to kill us. BTW, I thought the Red Soxe were the "team to beat". If thats the case, looks like a lot of team are going to beat them.

The bats were certainly alive last night. Hopefully Victorino is okay and back in the line-up today. Especially since I have him on one of my fantasy teams.

That is such a shame. I used to love the Philadelphia Zoo. My DW and I were actually contemplating annual passes, but you are certainly making me re-think that. It sounds like we may be looking for some where else to hold the Tri-State DisDads meet.

Shame, shame, shame... Sounds like something I would do ;)

I am hoping that the state of the zoo was due to the beginning of the spring/summer season. We bought the annual pass because of the size of my family. It was $45 more for the season pass vice the one day admission.

The elephant exhibit had absolutely nothing but rocks and dirt. Looks exactly the same as it did last year when one elephant died and the other was shipped away. Its like every one has forgotten the zoo was the first zoo in america! And it is a national icon that needs more attention! It makes me wonder if someone has their hand in the small cookie jar they have! :scared1:
When I said 30 animals, I mean large mammals I am not counting the sponsored exhibits.
The other thing that bothers me is the food court! $9.50 for a burger fries and a medium soda. I felt as if I was in Disney.

I think that they had a scene in Rocky 1 or 2 from the Philly Zoo in front of the elephant exhibit and even then it was rocks and dirt.

I'm sure someone had their hands in the cookie jar. Certainly wouldn't be the first time that happened in Philly.

To be perfectly honest, I'm anti-UConn because I went to Georgetown, but hospital thing is an excellent other reason! Unfortunately, I bet this is true for lots of men's teams :sad2:

Big game today! The Eagles versus the Packers in a flag football rematch!:thumbsup2 My team (the Eagles of course) beat the Packers last time 35-6. Their Coach is a good friend of mine and my sons best friends dad. We have been coaching together for the last 5 years. This year he agreed to take a team that did not have a coach. He gave his son the option of playing for him or staying on my team. His son chose to stay on my team and play with his friends.

Because that’s what you do!

That’s a really great little story. Is that fellow a Disney guy? If so, invite him on over, because it sounds like he’d certainly fit in around here.

Its sad that some of these athletes do not understand that they are more then just athletes. People and especially kids look up to them, whether they like it or not. There is a big difference between being a great player and being a great person. They need to act like roll models both on and off the field. Its also sad that the School doesn't do something about it.

NCAA Tournament Update

So with just one game to go, the winners are pretty clear. Tim (that's nice) was the only person to pick UConn as the winner, so if they win the game tomorrow, he's the big winner. No one picked Bulter in the finals, so, CJ with his Bay Lake Bombers will take the title.

He actually is a Disney guy. They went for the first time last year and loved it so much went back again at the end of February. I think his wife is on the boards but not sure about him.

That was great of him to begin with on taking on another team at the last minute and even better by giving his son the option to stay with me or go with him.

Here you go take it! I don't want own age anyway!! :rotfl:
So i got nothing to say but.................

Question for the group,

Has anyone ever bought an annual season pass before? With two trips planned in 12 months, it would save us at least $500 to get a season pass. Plus if we make a detour to Disney during our summer trip to visit my father, we could use the season passes. Am I crazy? Am I starting down a slippery slope?

We have bought annual passes for the past two years. Since we do DVC, DW and I try to sneak down to WDW in November for a long weekend for our anniversary on occasion, and we're gonna try to do that this year as well since we have the passes that expire in January. And yes, it is a slippery slope; one that slides right down into WDW :lmao:

I made an apointmnet to see a DVC......but my wife doesn't know.....I am not telling her till we get there......:rolleyes1

Uh oh, we may need to bring back the doghouse. However, you can rest assured that there is no pressure. They will show you and leave it up to you. I think that the minimum purchase now is 160 points. We haven't regretted our purchase at all.

DD has her dance competition next Friday night. They get the honor of dancing at 9:45 PM, with awards at 10:50 :scared1: Glad that it's not on a Saturday because that would cause me to miss DD's competition and DW to miss DS soccer game (just like last year). It's also coming up on the anniversary of last year's "last minute planned trip to WDW" that we did over spring break last year. DW asked the kids if they wanted to go this year over spring break, and they said they had rather stay at home since we are going in June. Honestly, I'm sort of relieved at that because I've got a ton of yard work to do when we're out for break.

Agreed. That’s pretty much the way I became a Cub Scout leader and certainly why I’m very much involved in the local school band booster club. We all want the best for our kids. It’s a dad thing.

If your friend isn’t already a member of the boards, then warn him when you invite him on over that it’s completely addictive. Actually, my ID started out as my DW’s. She was and is a long time lurker but posts only every once in a while. What happened is that we joined up with a cruise thread for our trip on the Magic and I got involved with running their F/E, which resulted in our sharing the ID. But since it was mostly me doing the talking, we set up a new account for her and I just got control of this one. Then I found this little club and…

Well, you get the picture.

Uh oh, we may need to bring back the doghouse.

Here ya’ go…
Dog-Cave2.jpg

I spend an inordinate amount of time in here and have found it to be quite comfortable. As fellow members of the DDC, y’all are welcome to join me (but I’d advise against it :lmao:)
