Christopher, have a great time! Can't wait to hear about it when you get back.

well, do you guys remember the nice pics i had of my basement, all finished. i went down to check my answering machine in my office and slop, slop, slop over the one rug. there is a 4 inch pipe that comes down from the kitchen sink, BIG SPLIT IN IT!!!! had to make a 3x3 hole in the wall to fix it. cleaned it all up. so, luckly this pipe is in the corner of the laundry room, im just going to put a piece of plywood over the hole and paint it the same color. use it as an access panel. but, at least i saved $1200 on my resi today!!!:woohoo:

I've always heard that every basement will flood. Just a matter of when. Sorry to hear about that Dave.

But congrats on saving a lot of money by switching to Geico. What kind of car is a resi? :rotfl:

Hey dvczerfs,

How do you like the DVC and would you recommend it to others?

Watch out Phillies, the Rangers are also on a 162-0 record pace! I would love to see my Rangers face Cliff Lee in the World Series to see that drama play out. popcorn::

So, car didn't start this morning...no biggie, jump it, catch the train, go to work. I figure, at the end of the day, if all else fails I just jump it again and charge it overnight, right. So, after work, get to train station, as I walk up to the car...left front tire...flat.:scared1: Not only is it flat, it has a real nice puncture in it. I have been meaning to get new tires anyway. So call my buddy over to jump me while I change the tire (for some reason I kept playing the scene from Christmas Story over in my head where Ralphie says fudge when he spills the bolts). So, I creep along on the spare, which is almost flat, taking as many back roads as possible, pull into a auto store, where they test the battery and determine...alternator! :sad1: So guess what I get to do tonight/tomorrow? Change alternator and I just made an appointment for tires at noon. Did I mention it was my wife s car? Well, good thing I had it today.

Don't you love the way life likes to chip away at your Disney savings?:woohoo::mad:

CRUD! That's a bad day guys! Hope the weekend gets better

Oh, and if I have to be up at this time of night (taking the red-eye home to help DW make all the weekend commitments, at least I can have OWNAGE

Thanks for the reminder Christian. I checked the site and a few things. The goal is for last year. I think we raised around $1,100. We should either start with a new goal ($1,500 maybe) or increase the current goal ($3,000?). Also the link to the DDC thread is to IV. How threads fly by. I would fix it but my tech skills are lacking. If we need to update the "spiel", I can do it. Just let me know.

I have updated the link and increased the goal to $3,000.00. You did a great job on the spiel last year so if you would like to update it please do.

Thanks. I will look at it and if I come up with any changes, I will PM you. My donation will be coming later in the week.

What are you doing up so early? Me, I can't sleep.

Magical morning fella's :surfweb:

Same to you and all the Dis Dads out there.

Any plans out there for the weekend? I have friends from Washington coming down. We are going out for a nice lunch. Hopefully he will be buying. He is cheap but his wife isn't.

Magical morning fella's :surfweb:

Since all soccer activites have been cancelled for today. We will be cleaning the attic to make room for my new Disney office. Then tonitght my DS and I are going to see the Baby Pens in Wilkes Barre. And gotta make some time to watch the Phillies!

Wow that $1200 you saved is like half a trip. Way to go:cool1:

That stinks!!! :scared1:

Were you able to save the Mickey rug? :confused3

Talk about two bad days. Hopefully tomorrow looks better for you both.

Hey dvczerfs,

How do you like the DVC and would you recommend it to others?

its not for eveyone, stopher has a good write up on it on one of these disdad threads but i will tell you what happened with us. in 1999, my dw drug me on the tour, i didnt want to go, i figured we cant afford it. my dw never says anything about money, she says,we are doing this. at the time, points were $56.00 and the offer was buy 200 and you get an extra 100 for one year. so we bought 300 points. i just spent $17000.00:scared1: at the time, it was boardwalk and okw. we own at boardwalk, couldnt get into boardwalk so we stayed at okw. when saratoga was built we bought anouther 100 point, so in a nut shell , with maintaince fees, it cost me $2500.00 per year for 40 years. if you look at the points, for 3 people, i can spend alot of time in wdw on 400 points for $2500.00 per year. we stay in at least a 1 bedroom, we have a full kitchen and full washer and dryer. we love okw. its quiet and as everything else disney, clean. remember, before we bought into dvc, we were going at least once a year and staying at car.beach or all star. paying 110.00 to 147 per night. for us, it was the best money we ever spent!!! we go to wdw and the room is paid for. i drive so gas cost me , today $350 round trip. we are ap holders and with the dvc discount it comes to $24.00 per day per person in the parks. the only other expense is food.which if you wanted to, you could go to publix and buy a grocery order and eat your meals in your room. but we eat lunch or breakfast in the room but we eat dinner in the disney rest. our dd was 6 when we bought, shes now 18. she loves it!!!! she was a little upset last december, it was going to be the last time she was going to stay at okw before going to coll. she said when we were leaving "mom, dad, i love this place, im going to miss it, its like i grew up here.":sad1: but im sure she will return one day. we had the greatest times together there as she was growing up. i hope dw and i made some lasting mems. for her as she gets older. for dw and i, till one day maybe grandkids,:scared1: its just going to be the two of us again. shes going off to school in the fall and my inlaws have a place at the shore were im sure she will spend most of her summers with them. she been doing that also since she was little. so thats my story, for us money wise, i saved alot of money and get to stay in a villa on my trips and family wise, we have the time of our lives!!! :thumbsup2

Thought I would throw my two cents in. We took the tour in ’96 when my daughter was two. OKW was the only WDW location at the time but they were building Boardwalk. That sounded more like my kind of place so we made a cash reservation for the first week it was officially opened. I fell in love with the place and bought 250 points that day. Since added 50 more there.

For us it was a great choice. I lost count of the number of trips we have taken over the years. It is nice at the end of your vacation, not to have a big bill to pay. We stayed at all the WDW resorts except Saratoga and I love each resort for their own uniqueness. Last year I took my daughter and 6 of her friends for DD’s 16th birthday. We stayed in a Grand Villa which probably listed for $2,500 a night. That is if you could reserve one. Without DVC, there was no way I could afford that.

It is not for everyone but If you know you are going to Disney a lot, it may make sense. All I know is that it is the best money I ever spent.

Hey dvczerfs,

How do you like the DVC and would you recommend it to others?

I've been away for a week, so I was thinking that I would come back to about an 8 or 10 page DisDads VIII. Boy was I wrong. I know that I wasn't part of the original question, but as a member of DVC too, I would highly recommend it to others. For us, it's not just the Disney part (well, it's mostly the Disney part, but not all); we went to Washington DC and stayed at the Mandarin Oriental a few years ago via the DVC. It is about 3 blocks from the Mall, which means walking distance to the majority of stuff. There is a subway station 2 blocks away, which makes access to Arlington, The Pentagon, etc... also very easy. So, for us, we love it. We're looking forward to going out of the country in the future using DVC.

Not much that I can say to this one. Hope that you got everything fixed.

I have been gone since tuesday night due to a new job. I come back to 50 new pages. Been trying to go through them but just too much. way too much. As for Royals game I had mentioned earlier, will be a little longer for me to get adjusted to new job before I make any trips.

That's what I said when I checked in this morning. "What?? I'm away for a week and 50 pages!!!"

I see it's been just another "quiet" day at work for many around here... :rolleyes1 (not that I don't participate myself many days...)

I've spent most of my day in... yep, you got it... MEETINGS. :headache:

And trying to clean up my desk, office, etc - in preparation for .... wait for it... wait for it....

I'll pop in and out this weekend... but then I'll pretty much be incognito for most of the week. (DW has made me swear a sigfreid oath that I will NOT just go to Florida and spend all of my evening hours on the computer - and of course there is my own Man Law to take in to consideration... no electronics taking me away from family... sooooooo .....). Have a great week while I'm gone. You'll probaly be at the conclusion or just about to the conclusion of VIII, if not already in to IX by the time I get back.

Hope ya'll have a great time. Tell the family that we all said hello.

Great time at the US v. Paraguay soccer game on this past Tuesday night. I'll post some pictures a while later. Then, it was a long drive home (from Nashville, TN) on Wednesday morning, and an additional long drive to Raleigh Wednesday night. I thought that I would have a chance to check in when I was in Raleigh, but I was exhausted from all of the driving/riding and luckily got a couple nights of good sleep. So now, I'm 50 pages behind, again :scared1: and probably won't catch up, so I'll just pick up at about page 40 and go on.

Hope that ya'll have a great weekend.

So the moral of the story: Don't do Drugs!

Seriously though... glad to hear you enjoy it so much. The sotry with about your daughter getting ready to go to college, and got all choked up about how she's going to miss the place she grew up. Kinda reminded me of Andy in Toy Story 3.

Just relaxing with the family. Will be watching Butler later. Go Dawgs :thumbsup2

Oh yea. My butt will be planted on the sofa for a few hours, eyes glued to the tube. Rooting for the Gator beaters and Kentucky. My numbers may be off, but if U. Conn. loses today or in the Championship game, I win the pool.

Any plans out there for the weekend?

As little as possible. Baseball practice today, watch the Phillies tonight, flag football game, Phillies game and NASCAR tomorrow. Most of this will be performed from the comfort of my couch.

I'm at the girls' swim class now, then it's their dance class. Then lunch, then keeping them from destroying the house while my wife takes a nap. This evening, though, DW and I have an actual dinner-and-a-movie date night. :thumbsup2

Anybody remember when weekends were restful?
