Well, we found out today that my father-in-law will be requiring a triple or quadruple bypass. Surgery is scheduled for Monday. DW is really upset and DS is old enough to know something not-so-great will be happening to grandpa.

Doctor said he has a strong heart and feels confident that things will go well. Funny thing - FIL had 75% blockage of his heart, but wasn't overly affected. Just said he felt a little more tired than usual. They caught it last week when he failed his stress test at his checkup.

Hopefully all goes well and he is up and at 'em soon enough. Just thought I would post this to ask for prayers and good vibes for my awesome FIL. Thanks in advance.

John, we'll pray that the surgery goes well. And we're thankful they caught this on the stress test.

Good Luck. Hopefully that isn't the deciding factor. I know 500 some dad that will put a good word in for ya!:thumbsup2

Thanks, Kevin. I might have a better shot if I can bring the DDC with me.

I feel for you - my office is going to get VERY interesting here in about 8 or 9 months. The top two bosses in our office are both very likely to retire at that time, and the decisions about who replaces them will be made with virtually no input from the rest of the folks in our office (those decisions are made in D.C.). If the two people who are expected to get those jobs do get them, and the rest of the dominoes fall the way it looks like they'll fall -- let's just say that I may be looking to continue my career outside of government service.

:scared1: That doesn't sound good! I think a lot of people on the outside don't realize that the politics and bureaucracy of the government is just as maddening on the inside for the employees.

:sad2: Maybe you should consider changing your username... I think it's affecting your performance :lmao::lmao: Seriously though... praying they overlook that slip :thumbsup2

:lmao::rotfl2: I have that screen name for a reason!

Mark, Good luck on the promotion. I would hope that she doesn't hold a little thing like name calling against you.

Thanks, Mike. I guess it could have been worse. I could have said, "Thanks, @#$%." :rotfl:

::yes:: on Prayers. Hope that things go as well for him as they did for my FIL this week. He had surgery on Friday to reattach his colon, fix some hernias, and a few other things, and was told that if everything went well he might be out in a week to ten days. He was sent home this morning. :woohoo:

That's no fun either. My wife had similar surgery to remove part of her colon a couple of years ago. I'm glad your FIL came home early! :woohoo:

That's nothing...at one work-related tournament my partner managed to plow a ball right across a pond straight into the head of a goose, I mean you heard the crack from 40 ft or so. Stone cold dead. Worse part is everyone just assumed it was me!

So you got a birdie! :cool1:

Sorry, somebody had to say it.

 im rotten with names, as some of you all ready know.:lmao: if the name dont come to me real fast, i just dont use a name.

I know what you mean, Phil. ;)

That sounds exactly like something I would do. Or have done. Maybe not quite the same situation... Let's just say getting your girlfriend's mother's name wrong is not good for the relationship. :rolleyes1

:scared1:

I can be at times too, so yes, it's easier to not use a name in that case than to botch a name!

Ditto what Steve said! I'll keep him in my prayers.

And with all the XL & XXL shirt sizes, we should all make sure we see a doctor each year, take any meds they want to give you, let them do a prostate exam & even a stress test! My DW lost her father when she was 14 to a sudden heart attack, 27 years ago yesterday. Better to find it on a stress test! Personally, I plan on walking my daughter down the isle at WDW when the time comes

Amen to that Doc :thumbsup2

Silly Tim, the real opening day isn't until tomorrow in South Philly. Real men were red pinstripes!

Silly Jason... red is not the right color at all.

Here's a picture from my office. Note the hardhat and the most AWESOME cup next to it. Red pinstripes... not at all.

I am glad to see that the opening day of baseball smack talk has finally arrived.

True.

Stopher... How about a DIS Dad's trip to Cincinnati this summer when the Yankees come to town?

Thanks, Kevin. I might have a better shot if I can bring the DDC with me.

If that doesn't work out for ya, we are looking for a traffic engineer at my company.

5 hours and 15 minutes until the first pitch in Cincinnati!!!!

27.5 Hours till the real baseball players start.

Maybe we should do a Phillies Dis Dads meet!

My son was all excited when he woke up today proclaiming that today is a National Holiday, opening day of baseball!

A few years ago, I took a robin out of mid air in a fairway during a scramble tourney. The best part was, we birded the next nine holes on our way to winning the tournament. I guess a bit of good karma.

I hit a goose once with a spud gun. Launched it about 300+ yards towards the lake, just happened to hit a goose on the other side of the lake. Not on purpose but a heck of a shot none the less!! :rotfl2:

True.

Come on!!! You all know deep inside that the Purple and White are taking it all this year. To close to many times. This is the year.

Oooh, that sounds awesome - but in looking at the schedule, I only see that happening the third week of June - right when I'll be at Summer Camp. :headache:

Hey, we've got a couple of pitchers starting the season on the DL. Think we could borrow one? You guys seem to have plenty.

I dont see that happening. We have a few position players that those aces gotta make for at leaft for a few weeks.

Yeah right. Keep dreaming!

I was fishing a few years ago in the Chesapeake Bay casting crippled herring (basically a big piece of metal with a hook) into a school of breaking fish. Just as I cast a seagull dove into the breaking fish right where I was casting. Unfortunatly for the gull he hit the water and never flew again.
