hey, gang, this may be odd, but i have a Disney World related question.

When (typically) can a person start booking travel for 2012? I think the DW is a little more serious than I originally though about Travel in May (or August) of 2012, and I was curious when that would likely open up? is it 12 months, or is it more calendar year?
We'd LOVE to book a family Grand Gathering-style vacation, but the only way that can happen with a family that has 9 children, 18 grandchildren, and 17 great-grand children is to get dates on the calendar as quickly as possible for as long away as possible.

For a non-Disney comment, I am rolling in a Silverado instead of my Mustang while it's being repaired (stupid vandals). I put $10 of fuel into it, and the needle BARELY moved. I miss my Mustang... :sad1:

First question - with a group that big, are you looking to stay onsite, or maybe book a few vacation homes in one neighborhood? (That's a REALLY big group)! If you're looking to book rooms onsite, Disney will begin taking room-only bookings 12 months in-advance. BUT, they won't guarantee what the actual room rate will be until the beginning of the calendar year. If you stay offsite, it's up to each vacation home owner to decide how far ahead they'll book. I suspect the owners of larger homes are used to the advance purchase needs of big groups.

As for tickets, with a group that big I really think you're probably better off doing room-only ressies and then buying tickets separately (great-grandparents and great-grandchildren, for example, might prefer to have resort days while the rest of the gang is in the parks). If you have kids that will turn 10 between this August and your 2012 trip, you can save some money by buying their tickets now. Ticket prices generally go up (lately around 5%/year) in August, but if you've already purchased tickets for a 9-year-old, they can still use those tickets after they've turned 10 without having to pay to upgrade to an adult ticket.

Randall,
Give this a try. In the signature editor you have a chunk of “HTML” code that links back to you ticker and it should look something like this (I had to replace the “[“ at the beginning of this with a “~” so you can see it and to prevent your web brower from actually trying to do it):

~url='http://www.**************/']http://www.mic.......

The next chunk of HTML links back to your DisCapCon trophy and should look like this (again replace the “~” with a “[“):

~img]http://i50.tinypic.com/28m39l1.jpg

The trick to getting both of these on the same line in your Sig it to make sure that there are no unnecessary spaces or especially new-line-breaks in between the end of one link and the beginning of the next. So you need to delete everything between the “” at the end of the ticker and the “” at the begining of the next image. Just be sure not to delete the brackets of the whole thing will stop working.

Also, If this just makes you completely nuts, you can copy all of the code that is in you Sig and past it into a text file, or a Word file or just an email and send it to me and I’ll see if I can’t straighten it out four you and send it back (of course you’ll need to warn me about it first so I can send you my email address.

Hope this helps.
Thank Rob, your IT kung fu is strong. :thumbsup2

DW just Emailed this to me, and I thought you all would appreciate it:

ONLY A MOTHER WOULD KNOW...

~ A Cup of Tea ~

One day my mother was out and my dad was in charge of me.

I was maybe 2 1/2 years old. Someone had given me a little 'tea set' as a gift, and it was one of my favorite toys.

Daddy was in the living room engrossed in the evening news when I brought him a little cup of 'tea', which was just water. After several cups of tea and lots of praise for such yummy tea, my mom came home.

My dad made her wait in the living room to watch me bring him a cup of tea, because it was 'just the cutest thing!' Mom waited, and sure enough, here I came down the hall with a cup of tea for Daddy; and she watched him drink it up.
Then she said, (as only a mother would know),

"'Did it ever occur to you that the only place she can reach to get water, is the toilet?"

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Hey Doc, let me know if you see any of the Monorail hats with the spanish speal (sp?) on them while you're there. I showed DW and she is hoping they have some when we go next month. And of course have a great trip!!

Sure thing! If I find one, I'll pick it up for you and send it so that she can have it for your trip :thumbsup2

Crew - heading out to San Antonio and Austin next week for business. Anyone have or know of some goods places to eat? I did see they have several Earl of Sandwich shops. Anyone......anyone?

Don't worry... you can easily see it move when it goes the other way! :thumbsup2 :rotfl2::lmao:

This would likely be a "we're going this week, so if you're going, plan this week too" type trip. And since we like to stay on-site, I'd be trying to convince my Aunts & Uncles & Cousins to stay on-site as well. The trick is to TRY to encourage everyone to go to WDW instead of Las Vegas (where the kids aren't welcome) or Juarez, Mexico (the family's from there, but, I'm worried about not coming home...:scared1:) I suppose I was looking for 12 months in advance as the answer, so for that, thank you. My next part of the question was can you do a Grand Gathering if not everyone is staying at the same resort?

:scared1: It'd be funnier if it wasn't true. :sad2:

Even if you all book seperately you can still do the grand gathering. Everyone would just need to call the GG number and let them know what the partys name is. exp: "We are all booking under Pratt". Let me know if you need help organizing it. Ive done one before.

My first car took regular (leaded) gas, and I remember being MAD when gas went over $1.00/gallon.

I know it was under a $1.00 when I started, but I specifically remember filling up my 1978 Olds Toranado and thinking $1.00 a gallon was going to break the bank. :rotfl2:

2 more days till I can make ADR's!!! WOOOOHOOOOOO The 179 on the ticker is for the cruise.

At the rate gas is climbing I will seem really old when I mention that I remember when gas was only a $1.00 :lmao::lmao:

I think for about the first 6 months to a year after I got my license it ran about 95 to 99 cents consistently... then it began the slow steady... ah who am I kidding, meteoric, rise to the levels we deal with today.

I go out to the garage and have a choice between a vehicle that gets about 15 mpg or 11 mpg. I'm just glad I rarely ever go very far.

I just filled up the minivan over the weekend and told my daughter that she could no longer go to college. She didn't seem too concerned. Maybe she's planning on marrying a doctor? :confused3

The kids are starting to take me seriously when I tell them we may sell them to the Gypsies if they keep acting up :lmao::lmao:
