Took DS to see Mars Needs Moms (3D version) last night. It turned out to be a lot better than I expected. Funny thing: near the end of the movie they used 'Peanut Butter' for a substitute bad word. :thumbsup2

Oh Oh Oh Ohwnage!

So, when's the next podcast?? My wife had an unexpected death in her family over the past week and we've been covered up with all of that business. I was thinking that there was one this past Thursday and I had plans to join in, but unfortunately......... And, guess who leaves for WDW Thursday morning?? DW. Guess who doesn't leave for WDW this Thursday?? Me. I've been watching the forecast and praying for rain every day, but it looks like that's not going to work out, so I guess that I'll have to tell them to have a great time in the sun.

Next podcast is set to be recorded on Tuesday night, the 15th.

No Beverly?!

...but I think that it's because kids get EVERYTHING for doing nothing. For example:
"Oh, your team finished last and didn't win a game all year, well here's a trophy since you all tried so hard." No, your team sucked, and you don't deserve a trophy; that's life, and it isn't fair the majority of the time.

and

"Thanks for coming to my child's birthday party, here is your present so that you can have something to open too; we don't want anyone left out and to get hurt feelings because they don't get to open a present." BS, this isn't your birthday, it's somebody else's, and when you go to someone's birthday party, expect NOT to have a present to open.

Guess my kid won't go to your kids party.:lmao::rotfl2: Just kidding. I can't agree with you more. In live there are "winners" and "losers" and thats just the way it is. If parents don't set up some desire to "win" (sports, jobs, grades) by making the prize desirable, their kids will continue to "lose". Especially when they get the same prize as the winner.

Funny thing: near the end of the movie they used 'Peanut Butter' for a substitute bad word. :thumbsup2
Laughing so hard I might have peanut buttered my pants!:lmao::rotfl2::lmao:

I am new to DISboards, but not to WDW. While perusing this site, I did notice the overall lack of testosterone. I am grateful to have found this little sanctuary.

So about me and mine....

I am 26, the wife is 28, and my amazing son is 3 (Yes, he gets his awesomeness from me). My wife is a teacher, and I am an Infantryman in the Army. I am currently in Afghanistan, and trying to plan a trip to WDW in October, when I get home. It is very difficult to plan a trip to WDW, let alone trying to do so in a third world country.

I have been going to WDW at least once a year since I was 4 or 5. I have seen and done a lot of it, although not all of it. My wife went one time before she met me, as part of a cheer leading program. Our first experience together, we stayed off site, about 40mins away from Disney, because we were broke. Actually, I was broke, she was a poor teacher. I joined the Army after that, and used my signing bonus for our honeymoon (we actually got married several months before going, but our schedules wouldn't allow us to do a proper honeymoon). We stayed at CBR, which was awesome. Since then, we've gone back twice. Once after my last deployment, we stayed at the Beach Club. And last year right before I deployed this time. We stayed off site at my dad's time share with the rest of our family on that side.

Our next trip we will be going in October, after I get back. It actually works out nicely, because I have never done the FWF. And it will be my birthday :D Bonus! The wife said I could do the drinking around the world. I am very excited.

Sushi,
First off thank you sir for protecting our rights and our freedom back home. When in October are you going? My DW and I will be there from the 13th-18th. Let us know what help you need and we are al here for you. Thank you again sir!!

Shirt Design Advice

I'm having trouble viewing some of your T-shirt designs on-line from work.

Can I get your opinions on my vistaprint design? Should I include other info on the front? Like the name DIS Dad's Club? I included the website on the back.

Doc these look awesome. Well done. Are you going with a regular black shirt or some green scrub tops for this?

Question about the dis dads NCAA basketball pickem. Would you consider putting in the option of letting us pick 2 brackets in the pickem group?? My reason for asking: DS (who is 10) likes to pick brackets and having a second option to pick would give him a chance to do so. So, I'm petitioning the commissioner for a rule change/exception popcorn::

Yes! I think that's a great idea! I just changed the settings to allow for 5 pick sets per user (the max allowed by yahoo). My kids will probably join, too! Unless anyone has any objections?

Peanut Butter! I already pulled the trigger and ordered this earlier this morning (so that I'd have it in time for our trip). Scrubs will have been hysterical! But they had mugs, too, maybe I'll go back and get one of those.

The Blue Angels had their first airshow of the 2011 season yesterday in El Centro, CA. Here is the first pic that I have found from that event with our son in it (David's to the far left).

Seeing this picture make me proud of your son. You must be just about to bust open. :thumbsup2

My but y’all hard at work running up the page count. :rolleyes1 Now I’ve got to go back and try to catch up again. I got busy right after work Friday on a fundraiser for our school band and only just finished helping with the final clean up this morning. A couple of times a year we hold an all you can eat oyster roast and though is a ton of work (and I myself don’t really care for that particular bivalve), but it’s also a whole lot of fun working with the other parents in the group. There are some real good folks in that bunch and I discovered that at least one of them is a card carrying Disney freak, so I’ve started working on him to join in the fun around here. Anyway, there’s always a need to raise additional funds (especially given the cuts that have and will continue to occur), but we’re trying to go the extra mile this year because we’ve got a major trip coming up in November.

Oh, wait… I have told y’all about this yet.

We’re going to be in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade! :woohoo:

Well… the kids are, but we do get to tag along if we raise enough funds. The organizers at Macy’s only take eight to ten bands each year and our program seceded in getting selected (and we're one on the smallest schools to have been given the honor). Needless to say, we’re proud and excited, but now we’ve got a whole bunch more work ahead of us just to pull this off.

I OBJECT!!

Mostly because the kids will do better than me. I guess it would help if I watched college basketball before the tournament started.

And scrubs would have been awesome!

Macy's!!! That is really cool! I am sure yoiu are going to have so much fun. A former co worker of mine was in a local band here several years ago and they too got to March in the MTDP. She said that it was a once in a lifetime thing that she will never forget. I am sure it will be the same way for you guys also!!

Thanks. Once in a lifetime is about right. That’s why we’re trying to make sure we can take the parents along as well. The current plan is to head up via bus on the Monday of Thanksgiving week and try to get in a few major sites as well while were up there (see a play, a performance at Lincoln Center, possibly the Statue of Liberty). Of course the day of the parade, the schedule is to be at the staging area by 2:00am!!! That will be wild. I doubt any of the kids will get to bed at all the night before.

OK, Lets test this ownership theory.

Yep. It’s every fifteen posts, so that means:

I own it baby!!

Great photo! Congrats to your son! You have a lot to be proud of! He's so tall, good thing he's not on a sub :rotfl2:

Don't worry, Mark! People who know nothing about basketball always do the best at these pools. I'm sure that you'll do fine :rotfl2::rotfl::lmao:
