Thanks for the advice. I have a lot of content available but I really don't plan on having it on the iPad all at once. I usually only watch the movies/TV shows when I go on business trips and then I only add what I think I'll want to watch. I'm pretty sure I can get away with the 32G but I'm afraid I'll always be second guessing myself.

As far as the 3G contract, I'm also not really sure about all of the different 3G rate plans. I have no idea how much data I would use so I 'm not sure which plan to sign up for. I would mostly be using the 3G for web surfing and streaming Netflix. Does video streaming use a lot of data or is the data only used when the video is downloaded to your Hard/Flash Drive?

You do not have to sign up for a contract when using your ipad for web content, unless you are traveling and have no wireless connection. As far as contracts there is no contract for the ipad it is a monthly charge only when you want it on. In other words if you ate leaving and want 3G you can just turn it on. And it lasts a mo th no data limits with AT&T I don't know about verizon..

Well, I guess you at least can't get in trouble for falling asleep during the meeting. Just tell them you zoned out when the keynote speaker basically said it wasn't important.:rotfl2:

Fortunately I have a lot of down time this trip. I am using it to do email, hit the gym and talk with family. DW had a follow up oncology appointment today and its always a bummer to be away from home during those appointments because there's always the stress of "what if she gets bad news and I'm not there." Fortunately prayers were answered and Drs said everything looks great.

Too bad your conference isn't 15 minutes from Disneyland like many of mine are. You could have something to do in the evenings...
I'm very jealous of your ideally located conference. This week I'm in memphis at the Peabody. Was supposed to meet a group in the lobby about 4:40 but it was slammed with people waiting to take pictures of the Duck processional. I may have had some waits that I regretted at Disney ***cough*** tiki room *** cough***, but I can't see waiting 30 minutes to watch a duck walk.

I know you have waited longer than that to see a duck!! What about Donald!!:rotfl2:

"Verizon will tier its monthly data plans thusly: $20 for 1GB; $35 for 3GB; $50 for 5GB; and $80 for 10GB.

AT&T, on the other hand, will offer just two options: $14.99 for 250MB and $25 for 2GB. Exceed your allotted amount of GBs, and AT&T will charge you $10 per 1GB. Still, all things considered, AT&T is providing the cheapest monthly rate – one that could be very appealing to light users. For instance, if you're going to use your iPad 2 at home, and you have a Wi-Fi connection, 3G capability starts to matter a lot less.

There is one more further distinction of note, and that distinction has to do with how you pay for your iPad 2 data plan. Beginning with the launch of the iPad 2, AT&T will allow users to choose a postpaid plan – in other words, AT&T will tally up your data usage, and add it to your monthly wireless bill. Verizon, on the other hand, is sticking with a prepaid plan, which requires you pay for the data by credit card before consuming it."

I know a lot of people on the 2GB AT&T plan and they don't ever exceed it. None of them are using netflix streaming of 3g which does consume a lot of data. It seems like AT&T is cheaper at the lower end of the data usage spectrum you'd have to be be in the 5GB per month tier for Verizon to be cheaper and thats a lot of data. If you are travelling a lot and using netflix, it seems like it would be possible to hit that much data usage, but I think its unlikely.

I CANNOT believe Smoke gave that race away....CANNOT believe it... I had it, I had it in hand:lmao::lmao:

Ownage....yee haw
I need to catch a break... Whoever I start for the A group seems to be getting marked for disaster. I always pick a fast car that can't seem to finish. As much as I hate Kyle Busch, it pains me to even start him and have to pull for him a little bit... and then he goes out there and blows up:headache:

Sorry you couldn't be there, but I'm glad the news was good. :thumbsup2

I agree with the posters that say wait until the last minute. (if your going to do that you should have the money somewhere safe where it is earning interest though). I question why you say April 18th, I thought stuff was due on the 15th. Someone mentioned the payment plan. I seem to remember reading an article on slate about how little interest the IRS charges, so that may not be a bad option.

This year it's actually on the 18th. The 15th is a Friday, and some sort of a holiday in the District of Columbia - can't remember what exactly, but my mind is telling me it has to do with Emancipation. I read about it at the end of last year, and I've slept a little since then. No doubt it's important, it just isn't a national holiday. And IRS rules state that tax day can never be on a holiday. It has to be the first business day following - which means Monday the 18th.

5 GB is a HUGE amount of 3G data - just the time it takes for that much data to flow over a 3G pipeline would make it hard to use that much.

Yep - here's an article about it. My memory was off a bit as to when I read it, but it was right about Emancipation.

Picked up my son from school and the first thing he wanted when we got home was to watch Disney Junior. He is watching "Mickey's Comet" right now..........
You have to bring them up right:lmao:

I am sitting in a two day conference and the keynote speaker just said "meetings are a cancer on American business." Well that's a great start to two days of meetings. Sigh
:rotfl:
Don't show up tomorrow. When your boss ask "Why weren't you at the meetings today?", just explain that you found the cure to cancer!:lmao:

We watch a whole lot of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. We have the DVR set to record it. We've tried the Little Einsteins, but it didn't go over so well...

Yeah, there's no way you could get fired after delivering a line like that.

Thanks for the link and pointing me in the right direction about due dates. Now I can procrastinate just a little longer.

:lmao: That's awesome. Unfortunately I'm speaking tomorrow, it would probably go over poorly with my co-workers if I just skipped out. I may try and find a way to slip that comment in though, if you don't mind.

The Einsteins were big in our house for quite a while. Then Phineas & Ferb came along and all was happy in my living room.
Unfortunately, Jake and the Neverland Pirates are big now, which in my opinion is a major step backwards. It's a cute enough show, but I was hoping my kids had outgrown the "count the gold coins with me" type of shows.

We'll be there May 12th to 20th. Where are you staying?

CBR. We're coming in on the 15th and leaving the 18th. This is a tune up trip before we come back in late November.

Where are you guys staying?

I got an email from vistaprint today offering 33% off and free shipping, so I messed around with a front/back printed shirt. This one could be had for $17.58 total! Black would be a couple dollars more; white would be a couple dollars less.

Are your kids older than 29? I haven't outgrown them yet.:lmao::rotfl2:

Mike let us know if that order goes through or not. See if Vistaprint is as bad as Zazzle. Bunch of Jackwagons!!

Well, there's the rub, isn't it. Web surfing/Email takes relatively little data, and is probably what you'll use it for most of the time. But streaming takes up LOTS of data - by definition, streaming is a constant flow of data. It doesn't spool the whole video to your flash memory. Once you start streaming media, you use data in a hurry. I'm grandfathered-in to AT&T's unlimited data plan. I rarely need unlimited data, but if I give it up then I can't get it back. So I bite the bullet and pay for those times when I'm traveling for a week and use it for streaming media. You're probably safe with a 2 GB data plan. The nice thing about the iPad plans is, if you stay on top of it, they're truly month-to-month plans. So if you find that you use very little data most of the time, you can go with the cheapest plan, and then just upgrade when you have a month you know will be busy. You just have to be careful to track when the each plan is scheduled to roll-over, so you don't catch yourself on a low-data plan during a high-usage time period.

Great information. Thanks a lot for the help:worship: I'm going to read up on it a bit more but so far I'm liking the 2G option from AT&T as long as I don't have to sign a contract. The Netflix streaming can wait until I have internet connection so without it I think 2G should be enough.

On a side note my dad worked for AT&T for 30 years and even though it is a much different company now, I probably should support them:)
