Anyone use GPS on thier trips? This is our first time driving and I thought about just using Google Maps or the GPS on my crappy Droid. Anyone have suggestions for GPS units????

We got the cheaper Garmin that Costco had. I think it was $98 or $198 cant remember (I know thats a big difference) but it works amzing. Even has lane assit to tell you if you should get over a lane so you dont miss your exit.

We used an older Garmin Nuvi on our last family trip. I think it was helpful but I seem to remember that it didn't always find hotels and parks by address at WDW. It did find places around WDW based on attraction though. We have upgraded to the 1490 cause DW wanted one with speakerphone capability and will be trying that on our next trip.

Lane assist would be nice. I have had some issues with Google Maps being inconsistent. We have always flown before and I don't want to waste time driving around. Have to get the part started :woohoo:

Apparently most gps maps use the center of the park as where your going but mousesavers.com has a download for your gps that is a little more accurate.

All hearsay, since I haven't been yet!

Yo Doc....let's say a mosquito (or other blood sucking parasite) bites a Zombie...then bites you....

What's the chance of infection??

Discuss.

Why are worry about zombies when there is already an army of blood thirsty predators outside your door?

Yes that is a squirrel eating a bird.

I think the Garmin Pratt mentioned above is 89 at costco now. I think it also has traffic data. If you're driving a long way to Disney that might be helpful too.

It is not listed on the website, is it in store only?

We love our Garmin Nuvi. The traffic info isn't particularly useful outside of large cities. But we brought our Nuvi with us to use in the rental car around Disney/Orlando, and it was VERY helpful (especially when I needed to run to Target and pick up a few things while we were there). :car:

Sorry about that. I stink at multi-tasking. I was looking at the GPS on costco's website and talking to my wife about target while I posted. The GPS is actually at costco. I updated my last post to correct the missinformation.

In case you don't have a costco membership I checked salescircular.com to see who else might have something similar. It looks like sears has the Garmin 265 for $85 and office depot has the Garmin 1300 for $89. Those both have bigger screens than the one at costco but neither have traffic. I would personally prefer a bigger screen over traffic data, as the traffic data seems to be weak. Devices that have real time traffic on them also have ads on the screen. (thats how navteq makes money to cover the cost of the free traffic updates).

If you have time you can also usually find pretty good deals on refurbished units at amazon.

While we were on Juliana's WISH trip in December, my DW Melody wasn't feeling herself. After a trip to Walmart and a test, we found out that Melody is pregnant! Her due date is August 13 which was the day of Juliana's last chemo treatment.

AND we are having a boy!!!!!

Congratulations!!! :cool1: (and better you than me  )

Had one of those weird days. I stayed home with sick child and had time to think. A friend from high school, who I had not seen in 20 years but found on FB, died yesterday of cancer. He was 38. I try to live in the moment & save for retirement, but this just gave me pause. Am I doing enough for them? Am I here enough? Just too much time to think.

The Garmin is the way to go, the only problem is the traffic is not reliable. Yesterday I was on I-75 South of Lexington, KY and there was a 10 mile back up both ways because of an accident, but the GPS did not show it at all.:confused3

Yeah, I need to get at least one more chapter posted this weekend on my TR or I won't be on pace to finish before our couples only trip at the beginning of April.

Pace? What's that?? :lmao::lmao:

:eek::eek::eek: Wow... don't see THAT every day. Sheesh!

Wife and daughter have a girl guide sleepover this weekend, so me and my 6 year old son will be cruising the playground looking for some little hotties, then back home afterwards for gummie bears and apple juice shooters.

I used Google Maps on my Droid using the turn-by-turn navigation and it worked great! I just had to keep it plugged in the charger because the GPS sucks the battery.

Oh...Dooooooooooooooooooooooccc......

That is all.

:happytv:

Thanks for the heads up, Buddy! Thats a good episode, too!
