Welcome new Dads

:dancer::dancer::dancer:

So, I'm confused...what is this white stuff that Tim has posted pictures of??:confused3:confused3

I know not of what this is:rotfl2::rotfl2:

Well, Disney Cruise is out, I think...for now...instead just going to plan a week in the world--jsut don't know when yet:woohoo:

im going june 18th through the 26th.i know, now you know when not to go!!:lmao:

Sometimes, i think Disney knows *just* when to throw stuff at me.

I was coming down from my post-vacation "I love everything Disneyworld" feeling, and finally got around to listening to the DIS Unplugged podcast, and they mentioned DVC. Then I open my email, and there's a "check out what Disney Vacation club can do for you" message.

And for the low low price of XXXXX, you can enjoy Disney for YEARS!

I'd LOVE to be a DVC owner. I really would. But my DW (and wallet) disagree with my heartstrings.

Besides, do I REALLY want to own at SSR? It's far from the parks and doesn't seem like there's as much going on compared to Boardwalk. Although SSR doesn't have the scariest pool in the history of the world... stupid clown head. :scared1:

Bucks welcome to you sir! You need any advice on how to plan your kids future... you better go somewhere else, you need a good fart joke then youve come to the right place!! Welcome!

Thanks for the warm welcome and my name in lights on page 1:)

anyone going to be in Orlando in may that likes to golf? They call me shankapottomas on the course i am not the best but love to Golf:donald:

i own at boardwalk and ssr and havnt stayed at either one of them yet.:lmao:there are some nice resale contracts floating around. but, id have to agree with you, its alot of money anymore. we were looking into getting another 100 points but we are going to work with the 400 we got. when we bought, the point were $56. at todays prices, theres no way we could do it.but, thats the nice part about it, im paying 1999 prices in 2011.

just one more of the original rides gone. I know it wasn't the greatest but I'll be sad to see it go.

That is one of DD (3) favorites. We will be sure to ride it many extra times this upcoming trip to pay our respects.

Looking forward to being part of disdads. How do I get my member number? Anyone going to be at Disneyworld in May 16-23?

Welcome. Glad to have you.

Wow, a make up day on Saturday. That's just crazy. I think that the good part about living in the Midwest is that we have all of the resources (snow plow, tons of salt) needed to make sure that it's "business as usual" for most snow events. Good luck - hope the weather cooperates!

Actually, we had one this past Saturday AND on Monday, much to the chagrin of several activists.

Crud

Had to cancel our trip to Disney in aug due to conflict with daughters band camp:sad2::sad2:
However as my new ticker shows we moved it up to July:dance3:

Like some others, I was bummed for you until I scrolled down the page. :thumbsup2

Well, we had enough "weather" to cause a 2 hour delay this morning, which was a good thing. Glad to get the day in so that we don't have to worry about the dreaded Saturday makeup (at least for now) :scared1:

You know, it's a sad state of affairs that you Southerners are getting more snow than us here in Northern WI. Sad, I tell you.

For you guys, not for WI. ;)

Christopher, any tips on Disneyland? Looks like daughters band will be going out there next year. I am looking for any info I can get on it and the area around there.

I looked at Williamsburg for a family vacation for us for August. I think it's JUST too far (like 17 hrs by car), and the kids (8,6,4,1) are JUST too young to spend a week there...i think:confused3

I was looking at 2 days for Busch Gardens & Water Country USA, 2 days in Kings Dominion (by far the best coasters on the east coast:cool1:), I'm not a History buff so the other 3 days are kinda open, my wife was talking about a few places in Virginia Beach & Newport News:confused3, But if all else fails Don lives close by:lmao:

We have a voucher for 3 or 4 nights in Williamsburg we have to use, do you have dates when you'll be there?
It looks like the week ending July 9th, I'm going to check and see if I'll actually be able to get the whole week, since I'm the Iceman I can't see them letting me go till the 5th

Most important meal of the day...every meal!!!

How do the meals on board the DCL's work? 1st time on any cruise for me and DW for her birthday cruise. Looking for info for when we sail on the Dream in Oct. Im used to the meal plans at WDW but how does it work on board? Do you get so many meals a day? Snacks a day? Do you have to eat at certain times? Can I eat with my elbows on the table? Can I slurp the soup without getting yelled at?
Thanks for any and all help!!

You get one sit down meal a day but other than that you can eat at the buffet or counter service spots whenever they are open. You sit down meal will be either first seating or second seating. I'm not sure what the times are on the Dream but I think if I remember correctly they were 5pm and 8pm on the cruise I took in 2009.

Elbows and slurping are not only allowed, they are encouraged.:thumbsup2

Actually, it is a pretty relaxed environment in the dining room. There is a dress code on certain nights but a lot of people don't follow it.

PM me if you have any further questions and I'll help you as best as I can.

:scared1: I just took my son to school, Holy Beverly, after a good day and night of rain that melted alot of snow, you can actully see grass in some open spots:cool1:, and now you can also see how much damage the plows did:scared1: sides of diveways and roads ripped up. landscape tie shavings everywhere, stone, pavers, small fences destroyed, piles of dirt from the front of yards:eek: The piles of snow are still taller than me, so who knows what else lies underneth:scared1: By june the rest should be gone:eek:

You could literally eat non-stop for 24 hours a day if you wanted to. There's always someplace open that will give you food (room service for late-night snacks).

Like Colin said, dinner has two seatings, and you'll be assigned to one of them. The shows are performed twice so people with the early dinner can see the late show and vice-versa. And the main dining rooms look fancy and have more gourmet-ish meals, but there are still lots of kids and it's a noisy, family atmosphere. I usually put on a golf shirt for those dinners to make a half-hearted attempt to keep up with the dress code, but nobody gets turned away at the door. Well, unless you go without pants. :scared1:

Basically all food on the ship is included in the price of the cruise (except alcohol and a few room service items). Dinner is the biggest production. There are two different seating (one early, one late) and three main dinning rooms (“Enchanted Garden”, “Royal Palace” & “Animators’ Palate”). You’ll be assigned a rotation (printed on you key card) and will dine in each restaurant on different nights. As you move from on venue to the next each night, the servers that are assigned to you will follow along. There are also two “signature” restaurants that you can get reservations for with an additional fee (“Palo” - Italian in style and “Remy” - more French in style).

For every other time of the day that your feeling peckish, you either call up room service, or just walk up to any food service counter and ask for something on the menu and they hand it over. There are several counter service spots on the main deck and a cafeteria style restaurant (“Cabana’s” on board the Dream) that you can walk into most any time of the day. You can also go to one of the three main dinning rooms for either breakfast or lunch. The only differences from dinner are that they will seat you (rather that using your assigned table) and that you’ll be served by which ever CM is assigned to that table at that time (not you regular server).

Well that’s the basics. I can give you more specifics as the questions arise.
