I need a vacation so I can rest up!!~! This weekend has been like a marathon with putting up Christmas lights outside and two trees inside so it is all done before we leave next weekend for WDW! There is still a ton of stuff to do around here and I have to work ALL week long and even on call Tuesday and Wednesday so those two days are toast before they even get here! Somewhere in the middle of everything I am going to have to find time to pack. I might end up having to take dirty laundry with me and washing it in the condo :rotfl2:

Page Ownage! I am racking them up now LOL

You will have to point us to your facebook page so we can check it out!

Here you go, here is my facebook page facebook.com/james.mathison2 it is great to share these videos. it is low quality as i used my cell phone that night but still fun to watch. He is in the blue singlet. this was his first ever win so it was super exciting.

WOW you guys move fast. I have been really busy the last few weeks, but it has been worth it. My little guy started wrestling and went from crying and having to leave the first night to winning 1st place in the final tournament, and even joining the actual youth wrestling team versus just the city recreation program. I am so proud, I even put a video on facebook and now out to buy a link wire for my video camera so i can burn him a DVD of his matches.

I have also just turned in my final assignement to complete my degree 15 years in the making. It feels so good to finally finish my degree, and have something to show for all the hard work.

The best part will be the additional family time that I will now have.

Way to go!! :woohoo: Both of you. I just love when we get to brag a little bit on our kids and I can think of no better place then here to do it. And… You finished a degree. Dude, that’s awesome. So what field are you now officially an expert in (just so I’ll know who to talk to if I ever need advice on the subject). Congratulations to both you and your son. :thumbsup2

2 weeks to go:cool1:

Going to use a movie line here, can anyone guess this classic:confused3

2 weeks, 14 papers, that 2 Dollars plus TIP

Gee Johnny I don't have a dime!

Didn't ask for a dime, I want my 2 Dollars:lmao:

Well I supposedly know everything there is to know about Management, but that has yet to be determined. If there is one thing i have learned about being a manager for over 10 years is that you still learn something new every day. That is what makes the job interesting.

It does feel great to be done, and yes bragging about the kids feels great, it is awesome how much confidence that wrestling brought to him in just 6 short weeks, that is what I am most proud of, winning is just a bonus as I would be proud even if he did not win a match.

And yesterday's quotable:

DW to DD at about lunch time: "DD, get back here and make your bed up."

DD to DW: "Why, I'm just gonna mess it back up in about 8 hours."

:lmao:

Teenagers.

Teenagers nothin', I use this line on my wife just about every morning:rolleyes1:cool1:

Ok, who's DW is dragging them shopping on Friday? Don't get me wrong, I don't mind going shopping with her, but the Friday after Thanksgiving?

I'll be wearing my Hero Gear all day (which might just get me out of it:rolleyes1)

So I just realized that this is post #500, and in the tradition of dedicating milestone posts, here is my dedication to the members of the Dis Dads Club.

I would like to thank the members of this club for accepting me as I am, and for all of the members in the way everyone treats each other with respect and equality. I think the recent exchange around different approaches to Santa Claus was the most shining example of how this group operates. One member had a legitimate question that in a "normal" setting would trigger defensiveness and ridicule, here the members answered the questions directly and without bias. Even though there were different approaches to the subject everyone gave each response proper respect and the complete lack of judgment on the subject is typical of this group.

So again thank you for being the open, honest, scattered, quirky, supportive, derisive, and just all around great group of dads where we can all relate to common experiences and discuss those that are not common with respect.

Now, pull my finger... sorry, I couldn't resist....

I totally agree. Nicely said, middlepat.

But why is it starting to smell in here? :confused3

And in the blockhead household, DS got his first ever stitches last night. He fell and caught his knee on the corner of a concrete basketball pad when he was at a birthday party and got cut up pretty good. Just got 2 stitches, but the cut was right in the bend of his knee and we thought it would be best to have him patched up rather than seeing the cut separate and bleed every time he bent his knee. Also didn't have a shot to numb the area. They put some kind of topical junk on there that numbed the cut and surrounding area. The doc came in and said "well, let's see if this will work." She put the needle through for the first stitch, gave DS a look and said, "did you feel that?" DS said "no." She tied the first one off, put the needle through for the second and tied it off and we left. Now, he woke up about midnight in HUGE pain, but we gave him some ibuprofen and he finally made it back to sleep about an hour later.

Other than that, it was a pretty normal day.......:cool2:

Ah, the very first stitches. A day he'll always remember. When he's older, the story will have grown to the point where his lower leg was hanging by a thread of muscle tissue. :lmao:

Congratulation! Both on your son's success and yoru degree! That's an awesome accomplishment! :woohoo:

Eagles not playing the Redskins tonight!!!

Go G-Men!

Gotta admit, I'm lucky there. My wife pretty much agrees with me about how crazy it is to waste a perfectly good day off work by getting up early, wrestling with strangers in a packed store to save $5, standing in a half hour line to check out and then walking 5 miles back to the vehicle. :rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:

Sorry Fed, I feel your pain, but at least you're back home for the holidays. Have a great Thanksgiving.:thumbsup2

DW has to work on Friday, and I'm not going within 20 miles of any retail outlet.
And you may want to bring some Flash bangs and tear gas containers for good measure.

Been stupid busy at work for the past few weeks so, while I have done fairly well at keeping up with you guys, I haven't had a chance to comment or even say Hi.

Stopher, Great news about your FIL. Thanks for keeping us up-to-date.

DNSYFRK, Congrats for DS and yourself. Been thinking that I may need to pursue a new degree myself. Just can't figure out how to fit it in with work, travel, and family life. That's a big accomplishment in my eyes. :thumbsup2

Fed, No shopping with DW on Friday. She, my mom, and sis hit the stores early while I sleep in and avoid the Black Friday battle zone. Sure, Dad and I will go out later, but just to hit Sears and Lowes.

Management decided to shut down for the entire week so I get to relax at home for a few days. Time to grab the chain saw and get outside now before I have to pull down all the Christmas decorations from the attic.

Have a great day guys and Happy B'day to Mark.

<shudder>

Fed, if anyone can handle it, it's you. But I would argue that this should get you the same hazard pay you got on duty.

Your wife is a wise woman.

And a video camera. :thumbsup2

I've found that if the deals are that important to you, you can find most of them online. But then again, we're guys. Our Christmas shopping doesn't stat till 6:00 p.m. on December 24th, anyway. :thumbsup2

Thanks Mike! Enjoy your week off!

Shopping? This Friday!!! Not bloody likely mate. I don’t need anything that bad, and if I did, I believe that I’d just have to do without it. But the notion of a video camera is a good one. A good clip of a public brawl breaking out over some piece of useless fluff might just win 10K on AFV (and that is something I could actually use ).

Thanks! I'm taking a half-day today. So I've got that going for me, which is nice.

That and total consciousness…
Hope you have a great day on your BD. :goodvibes
