my brother in law, who has been in philly for a stem cell transplant is home. hes been home for 3 weeks and is doing great!!! his counts are up and doing well. his son, my nephew, goes to a business school and they have a harvest king every year. instead of the kids voting and making it a popularity contest, they do a raise money for your favorite charity and he who raises the most wins.well, he won!! limphoma soc. was his charity. i wasnt able to attend the festival when he got crowned but i talked to my sister. my nephew is 6-8 300lbs and is very quiet. my brother in law was able to go with my sister to the crowning. he was crowned and had to give a speach. its a good thing i wasnt there. he stood up in front of 1000 people and talked about limphoma, how is uncle (my brother) passed away at 44 from it and how his dad has been fighting it for a year now. he said how his father is his hero and is proud of him, and the courage he has everyday to fight! (ok, i would be bawling like a 2 year old by now if i were there.) he gave the old john cappelletti speach.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-YdgWihXJvE . proud of the big guy!!:thumbsup2 my two nephews take me golfing every year. my other nephew is 6-3 248lbs. they always tell the guy when were checking in at the golf course, its our yearly bring little uncle david golfing day.:thumbsup2 f.y.i. big and bigger have yet to beat there little uncle david. lucky for me, he who loses buys diner after the round.

I have the Kim Possible Kimmunicator ring tone set as my default iPhone ringtone. :cool1:

Can you pick me up one of those thin lED ones while ur at it??:happytv:

blue angels are on the discovery channel!

I didn't know they were on! What did I miss?
Our son checked-out of his command yesterday but he still has to do his farewell tour tomorrow morning and make a stop at the personnel/payroll office. Then, he comes home for the weekend; heads back Sunday to his apartment in MD; leaves for FL on Tuesday on the auto-train; checks in with the Blues on Thursday or Friday! :thumbsup2

It sounds like one of David's first official duties will be to attend the Change of Command Ceremony. The Blues will be officially getting their new "Boss", the CO and pilot of the #1 jet. I don't know yet when that will be.

Just got back from AC, well looks like I will still have to work:mad:

On the way home, my wife was sleeping, so I started thinking (now you know what you smelled burning:lmao:) We should come up with a really cool name for The Dis Dad Dec trip:confused3 This is what I came up with

The Dis Dads Club
-Dadfest 2010
-Dadapolozza 2010
-Dadstock 2010

Just want to remind everyone (and inform any of the new guys) that we do have a DIS Dad's Club W.I.S.H. (We're Inspired to Stay Healthy) Journal over on the WISH board (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2555749). If anyone is trying to lose weight, quit smoking, or anything, come on over. We can either be supportive of your goals or ridicule you mercilessly, whatever works for you!

Thanks for the reminder. I haven't checked in there in weeks! (not that I have any real progress to report)

My wasted youth in front of the tv finally paid off. :woohoo: On the way home from work I was listening to the sports talk radio station and the host got way off track. He decided that his trivia theme for the day would be famous tv quotes. As soon as I heard that I started dialing.:goodvibes You had to get three in a row to win the prize pack. I actually got through and they put me on hold as I listened to moron after moron get such easy quotes wrong. But I never got my chance at stardom because they had to clear the phone lines since the segment was running too long. I stopped to get my hair cut and 20 minutes later I'm in the car again. Lo and behold, they're still trying to give the tickets away!:yay: As the host was about to get off the air, he says, "OK, if someone can tell me which tv show had the line "who loves ya, baby?", you'll win. I get through again! The phone rings, and rings, and rings. Finally, a voice says "What's your answer?". "KOJAK!!", I say. Yes! We have a winner! So the wife and I get two movie passes and I get a dozen bagels from some place I never heard of. I've worked at my current job for 7 years and have always been the guy to eat bagels but never to bring bagels. Now I get to bring them. Pretty exciting stuff. I haven't won anything on the radio since Huey Lewis tickets in 1987.

Some of the quotes people got wrong were:
Good night, Gracie.
Up your nose with a rubber hose.
I love it when a plan comes together.
Oh, Elizabeth. This is the big one.

Nice job! Several years back, I won similar type call in contest. The line was "What if there is no tomorrow? There wasn't one today." I called in, told them it was Groundhog's Day with Bill Murray and won their "Dinner and a Movie" package - two movie passes and a ham from Honeybaked Ham Company. :thumbsup2

Congrats on the big win. Now can you hlp me out with some of these, here is what I was thinking:

Good night, Gracie. - George Burns (not sure of the show title)
Up your nose with a rubber hose. - No idea.
I love it when a plan comes together. - A-Team (OK this was a gimme)
Oh, Elizabeth. This is the big one. - No idea.

They would be Welcome Back Kotter for the 2nd one and Sanford and Son for the last one.

I'll give you some hints. The rubber hose one was said by a character named Vinny and the actor is/was a major A-list superstar. The Elizabeth one was said by an actor who was originally famous for stand-up comedy.

More hints to follow if necessary, but I have a feeling that as soon as certain dads see this, they'll get it.
