Rob, nice pictures! Thanks for sharing your trip with us. I really need to get out to the Air & Space annex one of these days. It looks really cool! :thumbsup2

Thanks and you’re quite welcome. I wanted to toss out some of the better experiences we had with out being verbose or dominating the thread. If anyone is interested in knowing more about some of what we encountered, just post a question or PM me and I’ll throw out more details then you could possibly want.

Me Likes the Stealth Aircrafts....you can't hear or see them until something goes boom:cool1::cool1:

Even then the sorry rascals deny they were there:rotfl2::rotfl2:

Yah but they can’t deny the hole where their various installations and ordinance used to stand now can they? :rotfl:

Stealth craft are just about the only thing that they don’t have on display yet up at the Dulles annex, but I’m with you. I would have really like to have gotten a good “up-close” of either a F-117 or a B-2, but it will be a number of years before one of those puppies will be available for continuous public view. The most recent airframe on the floor is one of the X-35 JSF prototypes, but every other era of powered flight from 1910’s up to the 1990’s was well represented. Here’s a link that leads to detailed lists of the current collection for those interested:

nice pics goofy! boy that place changed in 30 years. ( the last time i was there):lmao:

Thanks again. I also saw the original collection at the main building on the Mall back in the 70’s and it certainly has changed a great deal. The truly historic artifacts are still there but all the presentations have changed dramatically. I’m also very glad they opened the Udvar-Hazy to display the craft that are either too large and/or too important to cut up on order to get them into the main building.

You guys laugh, but you have no idea how many cases I've worked where people actually BELIEVE this stuff...then have the nerve to ask me "when do you think I'll get my money??

Well....when guys with red faces, horns and tails win the Stanley Cup---and no, I don't mean New Jersey..

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

It amazes me just how many folk will immediately believe anything that they’re told by an email. A quick “Snoping” of most on that junk or at least a little bit of common sense would tell them that they just need to hit the delete key. :confused3

Oh yeah, that's the last thing we want to do around here - venture "off topic." :rotfl2::rotfl: Those were some great pictures, thanks for posting them. I'm glad you had good time. I've got probabl 10-12 years before my kids are old enough to get anything out of a DC trip, and I can't wait.

I didn't know you knew my DW family:lmao::lmao:, only kidding they are actually pretty cool, I just won't go on vacation with them, they run on a different time zone:confused3

Great Pictures Rob! I have not been to DC since I was a senior in High School. We were supposed to march in the Inaugural parade representing Ohio for Reagan ( yeah...Band Geek!) It was so cold parade was canceled. I am like Barry...It is several years before I can take the kids to DC and they will appreciate it I am shocked at how much it has changed...but history keeps on changing!

Isn't it nice when you can add a little Disney to your every day life?
DW is a juvenile social worker, working with families that have had their children removed and are at risk of having their parental rights terminated. She was telling me about a conversation with a particular father today. He was accusing her of having an agenda, and running an adoption ring with the children that she removes from homes. He believes she and her cronies had a large mahogany table that they met around to run the operation. She just started playing along, saying "yup. You ever see the Incredibles? We're just like that - we have a jet that flies us under the water into our secret volcanic island lair" :rotfl2:
He then realized that he sounded like an idiot.

Fortunately, most people are unfamiliar with the legend of the real "New Jersey Devil" which is how the team got its name:

As a longtime Devils fan, I have to admit it is kind of embarrassing. Then again, I guess if NJ was going to have our own ridiculous Bigfoot-like legend, might as well celebrate it.

Not to worry, they’ll turn into dark moody teenagers so fast that it’ll blind side you (oh… wait… maybe you do need to worry! :lmao:)

Band Geek!! Hello kettle, my name’s pot. :rotfl2:
Man, I hate that you didn’t get to march that parade. I’d have killed just to take a road trip of that caliber during my band days, but at least I do still get to play in other types of bands in my spare time. I even succeeded in passing the same ailment on to my boy (with out actually trying). The music department is basically his tribe at school and the low brass would be his clan within the tribe (and having a tribe, makes surviving high school a lot easier). The infection is so rampant, that both me and me DW are not just in the booster club, but members in good standing with the “Pit Crew” and “Construction Crew” (I even have certifiable battle scars the 2009 campaign, but that’s another story :rolleyes1). Summer rehearsals for my DS actually begin in mid July (which is why we went to DC in June), so he actually starts “school” earlier then most kids (and likes doing it too). We’re looking forward to the marching season and are hoping for another good year. It’s totally up to the kids, but they are a real good bunch of young folks. No mater how the competitions turn out, they’re making music and learning patience, teamwork and respect in the same breath. That’s hard to beat. :thumbsup2

Dang the luck!! So due to drilling contracts that I have to complete in Pennsylvania and Texas I have to reschedule our trip again! But I mentioned that the Disdads were getting together to my DW and she thought that it would be great for me to try and meet up!:cool1: What a sweet idea!! So If anyone knows the dates that the dads will be there please let me know. I would love to meet some of you!

:woohoo:Ok so via some of the best speed reading and thread surfing I have ever done, I guess that the Dis Dad Dec trip is around the 5th through the 12th. So if there is still room I would love to meet some fellow Dads! We are looking at the dates of 12/8 through 12/15. Any info would be greatly appreciated!:worship:

I actually meant when hell froze over, but didn't know if it would get me in trouble or not:lmao::lmao:

You'll have to forgive the Southerner, Hockey is another planet for me:lmao::lmao:

Yes, Yes...and the people who deal with children (our most precious resource) are sooooo well funded:sad2:

I hate jerks...

ADR's can be reserved here:

Disney Dining Reservations Page

I suppose you could do trial runs if you wanted, just to make sure you know how it works. It's pretty easy to use. As far as getting Le Cellier, it's luck of the draw. But you'll have a better chance the earlier you make your reservations. I believe the online system opens each day at 6:00 a.m. Eastern. Good luck!
I don't know what I did right, but last night, i was playing on-line, and it let me book reservations, even though I'm at 181 days today. :confused3 I'm not questioning it, but I didn't sleep well. I had 2 phone ressies (grand gatherings) and i called, and they said, "Um, call back tomorrow." If I have confirmation numbers, I have reservations, right? (and I'll post my full ADR schedule once it's complete, so you all can be jealous of me:lmao:)

Ummmm...does this mean "the shipment" will be delayed? These Nike sneakers aren't going to make themselves you know!

It's been a poorly kept secret for a few weeks now that there's a bug in Disney's new ADR website. It's been letting people make reservations 190 days out, instead of 180 (I suspect there's a flaw in the programming of the "180 days + 10" thing that confuses so many people). And everything I've seen about the bug is that the ADRs are still good ADRs, so you should be good to go :cool1:
(I'm just sort of surprised that they haven't gotten around to fixing that bug yet).

The advantage with my kid is.....you can forget ADR's...any plan we try to make, he will be sure to destroy:lmao::lmao:

He's two, so we're like...whatever---Counter Service it is:rotfl2:

That's how we were our last trip. With a 3 and 5 year old, no way we could make all those specific times, muchless keep them contained at a TS joint each night.
Maybe next time we'll try TS...maybe. But we had no problems and no complaints with QS. It was convenient, plenty of food. Maybe a little sparse on the lunch selections (pizza, pizza, pizza).

:eek: Keep me in mind, I'm goin for a root canal this afternoon.
Hope at least the pain improves.

OUCH!!!! Alright, you win for the day:lmao::lmao:

Yeah, no WAY my 2 YO is kept contained....though he does like Rain Forest Cafe, lots to look at I guess...He could live off Chicken nuggets, so we're generally covered:thumbsup2

However, don't leave your French Fries unattended around him though...they WILL disappear:lmao::lmao:

DW was nervous about the "190 ADRs" that I made last month. So on the 180 day mark, I canceled them and made new ones, just to be on the safe side. None moved more than 10 minutes.

Mine are 3 and 5 also. We do some TS places, and it works out OK. Clearly we're not going to someplace like Jiko or Victoria & Alberts, but they did good a places like Le Cellier and 50's Prime Time. Characters are a plus to keep them engaged, and buffets are your friend. The quicker you get food into the kids, the better.:thumbsup2

Make sure you tell the Dentist that he's not a real doctor. They love that. :rotfl2:
