i had a good idea tuesday at 3pm. i decided to stain our 20x20 deck and railings. nice sunny day, no rain in sight for a few days (finaly). the only problem is it was 90 degrees and my deck sets in the sun. needless to say after i was done at 6pm, cleaned up and went inside to sit in the a/c, i started getting tunnel vision.(home alone by the way) i started drinking water by the gallons and after about two hours my head stopped pounding and i started to see straight again. i think i was starting to have a heat stoke.:lmao: i have a nice tan anyway!!! dw was poooed. i was called the part the goes over the fence last.:lmao: ya well, wouldnt be the first and im sure it wont be the last!!!:lmao:

Why, thank you. This place is a trip (I mean that in a very GOOD way).

hey clearscreen, i thought of you this afternoon on my way home from easton pa. there was a car in the left lane with her right turn signal on, yup, light turned and she hung a right, past three lanes of traffic, from the left lane. couldnt believe there was a nj plate on the bumper!! (did you catch i said she had her turn signal on, couldnt be a native nj.):lmao::lmao:must of thought she was in one of those jersey circles!!! i miss those things!!!:lmao:

Hey Everyone, I thought it would be nice to join a disney fourm but had no idea there was a disney dads one! ... Looking to become a DVC memeber in the next couple years unless a bunch of people have really good reasons not too.

Welcome. We did DVC through resale after several visits, and now, we do 2 visits a year. We are happy with it.

I say Disney builds a second carousel right next to the current one, runs it in the opposite direction, and gives the people on the outside rows jousting lances!

Thought that was the plan with the 2 Dumbo rides together. The bus driver who told me that rumor must have gotten it wrong.

I have to go to the office 5 days every week. Now THAT'S excessive. :rotfl2:

I've asked for a 2 day work week for quite some time, but the boss is yet to approve it. I figure that I only muster about 2 real days of work anyway..;)

If she made it and nobody was killed, I really don't see the problem.

SOmeday, I will explain why the Flemington Circle is actually the work of a madman.

dvczerfs,

I see where you are from, so you will know what this means:

There is one thing crazier than NJ drivers - the fans at an Easton-Phillipsburg wrestling match or football game.

Back in the day when my area had a mess of circle's there were alot less accident's then there are now. When it was a circle you go one way and get off at your choice of road, now they have everything so confusing accidents are a everyday event. The biggest problem we used to have with the circles was the occasionial drunk who was driving the wrong way.

<putting nerdy engineer hat on>

If a roundabout is designed and built correctly, it does reduce accidents. There are less conflict points than a standard intersection, and far less chances for head-on collisions. Problem is, people don't always know how to drive when they encounter one. :teacher:

<taking nerd hat back off>

Hey, why won't this thing come off? :confused3

People being scared of them is probably the main factor of why they are getting rid of them. The problem with the intersections are the are so wide, that if someone goes through a late yellow or red light, and someone guns it on the green = accident. In my area they have installed cameras at some of the intersections that snaps your plate if you go through a late yellow or red light, $85 ticket no points, now the big problem is rear end hits since most locals know the intersections that has them and slam on the brakes as soon as the light turns yellow.

The problem is nowadays, like Disney Commando said, nobody really knows who has the right of way in a circle. Used to be, everyone knew people already in the circle had the right of way. Now, people are merging into the circle and not yielding making it tough for people to exit the circle. It seems that the art of navigating a circle is lost to history.

Also, some circles around here now have two lanes going around the circle. If you are in the inner lane, you are basically stuck until you decide to cut someone off. When I am driving in a circle with my family, I always say "Look kids, Big Ben, Parliament" but nobody gets my joke.

They're adding them like crazy here in the northern suburbs of Indy... like they're the best thing since sliced bread. I agree with Mark that they "can" reduce accidents - but yeah, no one knows how to properly navigate them and since the first one showed up a year ago, traffic at every one that's come along since has increased bottlenecks and accidents. We had one in the town my DW and I lived in in So Cal years ago and it was awesome, but the ones around here are just plain dumb.

Well an almost, but not quite belated Happy Birthday Brian. Sorry about the head cold, but hope the day was good otherwise.

Happy Birthday! :cool1:
I hope it doesn't end up in your chest, like mine did. Three weeks and I'm still hacking. Of course, some of that is probably allergy related at this time of year.

They have to be built in the right locations in order to be effective. Generally, roundabouts work best at an intersection where all 4 legs have roughly equal traffic. And cars should ALWAYS yield to traffic already in the circle. They also shouldn't have multiple lanes--then the operation breaks down quickly.

Like you guys said, people don't know how to use them, and they aren't always put in the right place.

When I am driving in a circle with my family, I always say "Look kids, Big Ben, Parliament" but nobody gets my joke.

:lmao: I do that too!

They're making their way to the southside too... there's one by Greenwood Park Mall that usually has traffic backed way up in all directions (you know... Greenwood wants to be the next Carmel, but I digress).

My theory with roundabouts has always been "he who has the biggest tires has the right of way" and I drive a truck with oversize tires so get out of my way. ;):rotfl2:

Oh yeah, Carmel - the city of roundabouts. Ugh. I don't know if you've seen any of the "improvements" along US-31 or not, but they're everywhere. The replacement bridge planned for 146th has something like 4 of them combined together with a straight stretch in between (think the shape of a dog bone). We got 3 or 4 of them in Noblesville last year, and construction on another is about to begin.
