Hey guys,

I've been having some fun reading this Board. My boss is wondering why I keep laughing out loud. Anyway, we are going down to Disney in August for 10 days - me, wife, DD8, DS5 - staying at the Contemporary.

Last time I was there was in 2000. Wife and I stayed at the Wilderness Lodge and had a great time. Funny tidbit (to me, at least) was that Dee Snider from Twisted Sister was staying there at the same time. My wife had no idea who he was but I thought it was great. She doesn't understand why I keep telling people the highlight of our trip was staying at the same hotel as Dee Snider.

Disney Commando, I was born and raised in NJ - lived there until I was 26 - in Hasbrouck Heights which is near Giants Stadium. Remember, NJ drivers never have to apologize for anything as we are always right. Speeding is always acceptable unless you are at the shore. If someone does not understand what a "jughandle" is, that is their loss.

As for Dee and my DW, she just was not into '80s Hair Bands - she is more of a HUey Lewis kind of girl. She knew who he was after I explained about the makeup, pink and black spandex, MTV videos, Congressional hearings, etc. It's funny that we saw him just about every day for a week. He was there with his son who was around 10-12 years old. He was starting to recognize us because we kept bumping into each other at the hotel. I'll never forget him, long blonde hair in a pony tail, black bicycle shorts, some sort of sleeveless t-shirt or sleeveless jean jacket and sunglasses. I could never be that cool.

Got my fix of Disney for the day, just got off the phone with them, ordered tics for MVMCP Dec 9th.

I went last year and it was a blast. The wife and I were dancing in the street and there was no waiting for anything. The castle lighting was fantastic.

Thanks AJ - I keep forgetting about the resources we've put in place! Some I even had a hand in myself. Duh.
I was trying to see if I couldn't get in a quick visit down there myself next week due to a work trip that needs to happen sometime in the next couple of weeks. Connecting with another DDC dad is certainly a reason to make it happen... if only the rest of the details could come together.

Chris it would be great to hit the parks with you. We will be moving at a slower pace this trip because Virginia will be with us, and we will probably spend a lot of time at Kidani pool. (looks like it will be 90 degrees next week) It will be my first stay as a DVC Member. I am looking forward to seeing Virginia's face when she sees the savanna from our room.

Hmmmmmmm . . . there SHOULD by stuff on a DISDads shared calendar that everyone can see. It works from the link on the Disdads.com page, even if I'm not logged in at all, but the URL is more specific. This this calendar link instead.

Emma's Dad,

No pix with Dee. He was there with his son and I did not want to impose. I don't think he even knew I recognized him. I did not exactly scream like a little girl seeing the Jonas Brothers. Besides, I was actually a bigger fan of Ronnie James Dio, RIP.

We did joke about how we kept seeing each other - BUT NOTHING HAPPENED -not that there's anything wrong with that. Seriously, it was more like two NYers saying hello to each other than anything else "Hey, how you doing? Are we following each other?" He was very nice, but obviously there to spend quality time with his son.

While I agree it does seem a bit odd, it really isn't all that unprecedented. Disneyland has Sleeping Beauty Castle and King Arthur's Carrousel. So now the Magic Kingdom will have Cinderella Castle and and Prince Charming Regal Carrousel... it's okay, the girls still get the castle, and the guys get the horses. It works for me. Besides, it's probably just step one of many more to come in getting ready for the uber-princessifying of Fantasyland as the redo/expansion gets underway.

Was just in Disney back in January and now are already planning on doing our second disney cruise early next year. Been to disney world now 6 times in my life with 4 of them being in the last 5 years and even got married down in orlando and had our wedding dinner at Ohana's. Looking to become a DVC memeber in the next couple years unless a bunch of people have really good reasons not too.

Other then disney... I am canadian (dont hold that against me) and live in Calgary Alberta. We are the ones in shorts and T-shirts in January down in disney world because that is a nice spring day for us .

Was just in Disney back in January and now are already planning on doing our second disney cruise early next year. I know i'm going with my family & all, but i'm really looking forward to drinking around the world this December. I even have a passport. Though I do plan to cheat, and cross off anything I've had on previous trips.
And, I think I have to actually start planning dinner ressies soon. Still, going during the holidays, I don't know if I'll get all my plans planned.
