Waaaaay back when DW was still my girlfriend in high school, I taught her how to drive a stick using my brother's truck. I still haven't told him. :thumbsup2

I tried teaching DW how to drive a stick way back when...didn't happen...and my clutch couldn't take anymore punishment ...so I just gave up.

For those of you Praying for Sadie...she showed some improvement yesterday...she got up and walked...and was drinking fluids. :thumbsup2

Still a long road...the Doctors are baffled by having a child so young to have a ruptured Appendix.

Sadly, my wife was the one who had to teach ME how to drive a stick shift. [hangs head in shame] :sad2:

We're just about a year and a half or less away from starting to teach my eldest how to drive. We don't have a stick shift at all, but I'm adament that he know how to drive one. I learned on one first, and by golly he should too, before moving to the ease of automatic. I need to figure this quandry out over the next 15-18 months or so... my DW STILL doesn't know how to drive a stick shift, but at this point, I'm not teaching her.

OK Dad's need some prayers for a little girl...

She is the Grand-daughter of Mr. Fender...aka the owner of the Corn Maze I work at in the fall.

Her name is Sadie...she's 2½ and had to have emergency surgery...because her appendix ruptured.

She's stable but still a very sick little girl and has a long road before she's out of the woods.

she is in our prayers pixiedust:pixiedust:

Looks like the day for prayer requests.

My DS13's club soccer team competes for State Cup this weekend. We have a player who's Grandfather has been terminally ill for quite a while now. I sent his Mom (it is her Father) a text message to see if he needs a ride this weekend for our games (I have been handling this for them recently to relieve that from them) and she texted me back that her Father passed away at 4:00 this morning.

Please join me in keeping Abraham and his family in your thoughts and prayers during their time of loss!

again to Abraham and his family prayers and

back when in the stone age, I had to teach my mother to drive. she had been a stay at home and dad did all the driving. well the only car I could use was my '67 GTO, (I miss that car) 4 on the floor and Hurst shifter. Mom got the hang of it after a very long summer (and a new clutch). on the way home after her road test, I asked her if she knew how to get on a busy parkway? Her answer "drop to third and punch it" :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: I guess she had watched me :eek:

Many prayers for all those in need of them.

I get to leave today for Disney :cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:
Staying at the Cypress Pointe Grand Villas Resort for two nights, then check into the Treehouse Villas on Sunday Night.:banana::banana:

This will be my first trip with my 7 month old Daughter.

jon

Have a great trip!

I have never owned a stick shift to learn to drive on!!!:rolleyes1

My wife claimed to know how to drive a stick shift. Turned out that meant, "if you can't find it, grind it." We've only had automatics since.

That's great news about Sadie! :cool1:

Holy cow, that's a lot of food. The CM on the phone tried to get me to upgrade to the Deluxe Plan, but backed off when I told her it wasn't worth it because my sons are currently subsisting on the "air" diet.

When are you going?

We're going in October, so yes, will cram that all in 6 straight days. The last time we did regular DP, we left with several bottles of water and snacks for the ride home. Now that we're DVC, we are only doing 2 parks and MNSSHP, so there will be 3 days at the resorts. I better swim a lot and burn off those calories. I imagine we will be leaving with a case of Mickey Rice Krispie treats.

sorry havnt been around to much lately. i may have mentioned that dw lost her vision in 2006 in her left eye. they never could find what caused it. well, she had another mri done and there is a mass on her optic nerve.her eye started to bulge out a bit from the other one and thank god the dr. sent her for the mri. the mass is confined to the optic nerve and not in her brain.we dont know yet what the mass is but she already lost her vision in that eye so at the worst the may have to take her eye. we are just praying at this point its not cancer. so we will be off to wills eye hospital in philly (best in the world) to see what the next step will be. keep her in your prayers and we are hoping for the best!!

Dave I am sorry to hear this!!! Our very good friends took their son to Wills Eye hospital when he was a baby for cancer that was in both of his eyes. They cured him. So I agree they are the best in the world. I believe Ryan's doctor was Dr Sheilds. Keep everyone posted on things!!!

Certainly praying for your family, but if I may make an observation - she lost her vision in her left eye in 2006...so when you say she beats you home from the restaurant, you lost a race to a one eyed woman? Captain Oblivious no longer needs to hang his head in shame over his stick-shift driving ability. ;)

Yikes. Been a rough week around here for friends and family of DISDads. Good thoughts, prayers, and generous helpings of pixie dust headed to all in need of them tonight.
