And as far as what I learned to drive a stick on - probably the easiest way you can. Farm equipment. You have to really work to snub one of them out, you have a hand throttle so you don't have to worry about a gas pedal, and there is no other traffic around for miles.

I could go so many directions here.....................:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

I can see I'm a few pages behind here! Happy B-Day, Kevin! Just making a quick pass through here on my way to the pillow. Another day down at the World... and my DD is killing me with 2 hour pool visits at night!:rotfl2: It's been a blast so far. I'll try to catch up soon!

Glad you're having a good time Don! Nice pics on FB. Have some more fun, and say hey to Goofy for us.

Hey Don..you enjoying the tropics???

Gotten hot and humid the past couple of days hasn't it???

We got slammed by T-storms last night...

Nate, glad Sadie is doing better. We are cheering her on.

Marvali, sorry to hear about the loss of one of your player’s Grandfather. Way to be a Dis Dad and step in to help.

Dave, thoughts are with you and your wife.

As to the driving a stick question. DD is eligible to get her learner’s permit. AND SHE DOESN’T WANT TO DO IT. When I was her age, I could not wait to get my driver’s license. What is with this kid? I told her that I would sign her up for driving lessons (we would kill each other if I tried to teach her). Hopefully it will happen over the summer.

:lmao: i was the one who had to teach dd to drive. we took it slow. we started out in the school parking lots. than we moved into the development near the school and we drove in developments for a week or two. than onto back roads and after about a month, i didnt have to drive anywere. we are lucky, our school distict offers drivers ed. she had 5 months of class instruction and 8 driving lessons. our driver ed teachers can give the kids there lic. test. when i was 16 we had to go to the state police and a trooper would give you your test. i can assure you the troopers who pull drivers test are not the happiest people in the world.:lmao:

Can I get added to your list of Disney dads? :cool1:

We are going home June 6th - 18th, 2010.

Last year I brought another Dad and his daughter with us on our trip to Disney. During the trip the girls (8yo and 10yo) decided to dub me the honorary title of "Big Fun Brain". :woohoo: Yes, they came up with this badge of honor.

Now the pressure is on for yet another year of "THE BIG FUN BRAIN". :dance3:

Cya all at the magic.

sorry havnt been around to much lately. i may have mentioned that dw lost her vision in 2006 in her left eye. they never could find what caused it. well, she had another mri done and there is a mass on her optic nerve.her eye started to bulge out a bit from the other one and thank god the dr. sent her for the mri. the mass is confined to the optic nerve and not in her brain.we dont know yet what the mass is but she already lost her vision in that eye so at the worst the may have to take her eye. we are just praying at this point its not cancer. so we will be off to wills eye hospital in philly (best in the world) to see what the next step will be. keep her in your prayers and we are hoping for the best!!

Your DW is in our prayers, Dave. Keep us posted!

We reached $1050! Are we keeping the fundraising link up or is it over now?

The DW and I got to go to another AAA LV IronPigs game last night with our DD, her DH and our DGS. The Pigs blasted the Indians, 10-6! Now, if they could just reach the .500 mark!

I once got sent to Guatemala with a fellow Agent out of Miami....

We had a car rented because we were staying in Guatemala City (up in the Mountains) and driving down to Puerto Quetzal---which is on the Pacific Coast (Black, Volcanic beaches, really cool)...

My coworker had rented the car on his orders, so he was doing all the paperwork, etc. etc.

Anyway, we pick up the car at the rental place and sure enough, it's a straight drive....I see John looking at it with a quizzical look on his face. I ask him if he can drive a straight drive, to which he answers in his typical fashion "Yeah man, I got it.."

Yeah, well , we LURCHED out of the parking lot, lurched down one of the main drag through the city, then lurch and STALL in the biggest intersection of the city...:scared::scared:

Cars are honking, people are driving by and yelling at us:mad::mad::mad:

I finally kick him out and take over---then I never let him drive again:lmao::lmao:

He kept saying..."sorry, bro, I thought I could fake it":rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

You drove in Guatemala?!? You are one BRAVE soul. Some of the craziest driving that I have ever seen was in Guatemala City. Luckily, we were shuttled around by a driver in an SUV with bullet proof windows, kevlar door panels, and he kept a .357 magnum beside his seat.

I can't wait to read Don's next trip report either. No matter how long it takes...

:welcome:
to the club!!!

Our fearless leader Don (Emma's Dad) is in the World. I'm sure once he gets back, he will assign you an official number. In the mean time pull up a chair or jump right in! :goodvibes

First, and most importantly, positive thoughts, prayers, and well wishes for those going through the tough times. Everyone stay strong.

Hummmm. Cars and driving. I learned on a Chevy Chevette stick shift. Would love to have a stick now but DW won't have anything to do with one. The car that I was assigned after I got my license, though, was a 1977 Buick LeSabre. Puke green. The engine was about the size of our kitchen and the car itself was about the size of a small house. Took about 3 parking places to park the thing. When I was a senior in high school, they took an air shot of our school. You could make out that car the second you looked at the picture. All my friends were like, "well, at least we can pick out his car..."

Busy time of the year at school. Was "fortunate" enough to have something every night last week. Looking at the same this week. However, 30 days until the end. Everyone's exhausted, and we haven't even started testing yet. Great times ahead. Hope everyone has a great work week.

Welcome:yay:

Bump. This thread was in danger of falling off of the first page of the board. Can't let that happen.

Sorry, haven't been able to post much this weekend. We've been busy AND Squeaker (DS3) has been a complete hellion! Anyone interested in a slightly used three-year-old boy?

We always heard about the terrible two's when our kids were that age, but I will take the two's any day over the three's.
