For many DDC members out there... you may now have a sense of closure. It's official... Emma's Dad has finished his TR! :woohoo::woohoo:

Don, you made it!!!!!! Congrats!!!:banana: :yay::yay:

I can only imagine what would of happened if you left for the World and your TR was still not finished! pirate:pirate:

I'll be back to read the final installment later. :surfweb:

I spent some time in the ER this morning. Turns out it was kidney stones. Feels like someone put you in a giant vice grip and just keeps turning. I posted it on Facebook, and one of my female friends replies with this:

And yet DW still called me a wuss. :confused3:confused3:rotfl:
I feel your pain FR!! I have chronic reoccuring stones.. (I started with 2 the size of gumballs, but the doc's broke them up into pieces of varying sizes .. from pepper flakes up to olive pits!).

I used to take Oxycondone for pain control, but that would put me out of business for the entire episode... until the Magic of Disney World saved me!

In 2004, within 2 hours of checking in to Coronodo Springs, i felt the twang, and got the fever that accompnies my attack... I carried my prescription with me, but since it was from Canada the pharmacist wouldn't (couldn't) fill it. He spent about 45 minutes calling around and then handed me a bottle of extra strength Motrin. told me to take 2 as needed.

I was very sceptical, but within 20 minutes no more pain, and i was fully functional!!!!

Since then, i havn't had any need to take the Oxycondone.. 800mgs of Motrin every 8 hours while in the midst of an attack and i am 100%..
Good luck !!!

Congrats on finishing a great TR. I know you took a lot of guff from many of the Dads here (not me of course) and you took it all in stride. Have a great time on the upcoming trip.

Oh, one question. Will you be posting a Pre-trip report before you leave? (Insert smiley thing here).

I call Bull S*#t.
I'll believe it when I read it. Which will be as soon as I finish this post.

The summer vacation plan is an adults-only trip to WDW in July. This is in addition to the whole-family trip next month. And different from the Autumn vacation for Food and Wine that is a possibility. Hey, I am maxed out on annual leave and can't accrue any more until I take some vacation. I have to spend it somewhere....
:worship::worship: I can't think of a better place to be three times in a year!

I can't swear by it, but I think I just saw an elephant fly by my window.:dumbo:
I saw a peanut stand, heard a rubber band,
I saw a needle that winked its eye.
But I'd be done see'n about everything
when I see an elephant fly

I'm sorry, did you say gumballs? :scared1:
Thanks for the Motrin tip. I thought I was going to die this morning. Or at least wished I would. :sad2:

The tech said I have two - one on the way to the bladder and one in the kidney yet. I see a doc on Friday.
I've drastically cut back on my soda the last few years. I did some research on line, and depending on what kind it is, it could be caused in part by all of the spinach I've been eating. This must be my punishment for living healthy! :lmao:

Hope you feel better Barry! I've never had them (and hope I never will), but my one boss has had them, he had to get his broken up so he could pass them.

Just made ressie's for a Mother's Day breakfast for my wife from my son. We will be having breakfast at Sesame Place with Jack Hanna & Friends. My wife will really like this, we have seen him in person twice, and my son has alot of his items signed. :goodvibes

DW and I have been down there several times, and yes we did get in to Paula's place. only really bad part of that is that you MUST HAVE a reservation and to get it you must be there at the side door of the building in person. I drove over to Savanna very early (07:30) and was still the third person in line for the reservations.
You got there at 730am and they did not start taking reservations until 930am? And you were the third person in line already at that time??? Sheeesh...what time do they runout of reservatoins for the day? Do youi just tell them what time you want to come back or do THEY TELL YOU?

Yea, I did the same thing, except I got to Paula's at 6:30 am :scared1:. I was first, but the second person came along less than 15 minutes later. I stood there until 9:30 to get in for the lunch buffet, and right before they started taking reservations, the line was 4 blocks long. DW and I really wanted to eat there, so it was worth it IMO.

After you get your seating time, you come back later (I think our's was 1:00 or so) and you stand across the street (literally) and wait for them to yell your name out so you can be seated. My dad had explained all this before we went down there for vacation a few years ago, so I knew what to expect. But you should have seen the people asking for ressie's at the door as we were being seated, and they just didn't get that the place was sold out for the whole day. A few of them were really PO'ed, so it was more entertaining than anything, especially the guy who asked "You mean I have to stand in line at 8 o clock in the morning to get in for dinner?" popcorn::

Just checking in - it's going to be a crazy day. DD has a charity walk (to benefit the school foundation) at school this morning, so I'm going to that and then heading in to work (late) - and the pile on my desk is threatening to become sentient and fight back, so I've got to dig into it this afternoon!

- and the pile on my desk is threatening to become sentient and fight back, so I've got to dig into it this afternoon!

I've got a couple of those piles too - both paper and electronic. NEED. TO. CATCH. UP.

I have enjoyed a few weeks of relatively quiet time, but it's over for a while I think, which of course is a good thing. Between work and Scouts - it's crazy busy right now.

After 4 months of preparation and collecting data & paperwork from the boys, yesterday was the day the Council's online planner for Summer Camp went live, and getting all 28 adult leaders and 75 Scouts registered and enrolled in all of their various Merit Badge courses took nearly 3 1/2 hours of my morning. The camp we go to (Ransburg) is the premier Scout camp in the midwest, with Troops from 5 states coming to it. They have 10 weeks of camp sessions, and each week hosts about 450-600 people between both Scouts & Adults. Ours is the single largest Troop contingent of any week during the season (the average Troop brings 12-16 boys and 3-5 Adults). But because of that reason alone, and to be perfectly fair to all of the Troops going the same week we do, the planner opens up for everyone at the same time. No preferential treatment to the Troop that pays the most money - but that's okay. I'm just thankful it was delayed to yesterday... it was going to open up last Friday while I was in Michigan. That would have been bad. Very bad. Many of the classes offered have limited availability - but out of 75 Scouts, 70 go exactly what they hoped for, and the other 5 got most of what they hoped for with only a few alternate selections being used. So all in all - it was a good 3 1/2 hours. Summer Camp is a big deal with all of the myriad of details that have to be closely monitored. I love doing it, but it is labor intensive for a while.

I quoted this off the Paula Deen web site,

The Lady & Sons gladly takes reservations for parties of ten or more. Reservations must be made by calling the restaurant at 912.233.2600. Reservations can not be made via email or through this site."

Clearly, the DIS Dads need to travel there in packs of at least ten.
