Last 1/2 hour of the movie is on USA. Gotta love Bruckheimer's stuff!!
Aarrgghh Matey!!
Aarrgghh Matey!!
Yep. 42 on 3/30.![]()
I don't want to give too much away but can you say matching super cool shirts!![]()
So today was an awesome day. I'll just say that straight out.
I was able to finally "meet" my friend that I first met here in the original DDC thread (thanks Fanatic!) We've talked about stuff for a long time, both on the DIS and off. I remember when his little angel Virginia was born. It's been a lot of fun - but this evening was just great, even better than I anticipated. It was such an honor to finally meet #81!! And Christian has an absolutely charming wife, and a beautiful little girl.
In preparation for the night I went out and made sure my watch had a fresh band on it (it broke just last week). This is my silver Goofy watch (I also have a gold tone one). It's a replica of the original Goofy watch sold back in the mid-1930's - that was accidently made to run backwards. I've had it for about 20 years now, and I love it. Drives my DW nuts though. They were sold throughout DL in the '80's and '90s, but anymore they are very hard to come by.

We got to hang out together at the Rainforest Cafe at the Great Lakes Crossing Mall in Auburn Hills, Michigan.

I'm up here for a client meeting in the morning and several weeks back sent him a message asking if he'd be around when I was first making my travel arrangements. Traveling with co-workers makes this kind of thing next to impossible - but this would be a solo trip, so I knew I had to try to connect. Sure enough he was available. But then I had the bad news that the dates of my meeting needed to change. He had jury duty... but what does he do - he is able to get it postponed... for me!
Talk about a cool dude. The last time I was up here I wasn't able to get together with him... but no way were we going to let it go by a 2nd time. And not only that - but I may have even gotten him convinced to join in the fun in December, too. That remains to be confirmed by him - but - it's a possibility...
Anyway - here are a few pics from our evening and time together. Thanks Christian for picking up the tab - and you're welcome for the appetizers I provided with my Safari Club card. Sorry guys - no volcano though! Maybe if we hadn't had that awesome spinach artichoke dip appetizer...
Here's Christian with his sweetheart of a daughter, who even gave me a hug when we were saying goodbye

After dinner his wife Margie (sorry if I botched the spelling there Christian) took a couple of pics of the two of us, in our not quite matching but still very similar and very cool DDC shirts (also pretty exclusive, since we're the only ones who actually were successful with our orders from Zazzle. MiJo sure got a great deal though from Vista! Can't wait to see pics of yours Mike)
Christian went for a larger font, smaller Goofy and his vitals on the back. Mine has a smaller font, larger Goofy and all the info on the front only... tomato - tomahto. They're both pretty cool in my estimation.

And finally, here is one of the charming, super cool Hill family.

It was very, very cool. Did I say that already? Oh well, I'll say it again, it was very, very, very cool after 2 years.

Let's just say close to matching - but both super cool!![]()
Thank you for the kind words and for taking the time to get together during your short trip here in Detroit. It was great to finally meet you, and I look forward to December.![]()
Thanks for trying! I'll just have to find someone with a Dole Whip machine and stop by for a DIS Dads visit. The sales rep. was in today with the answer, who carries them. Unfortunately they are not availible in this region, she said they were availible in the southern region that would include Fla., but was unable to find out if any stores carried them. It could be exclusively for WDW![]()
Thanks for stopping by, O' Fearless Leader!Hey DDC! Just wanted to say hello. Don't vote me out for being AWOL. I'll do better!![]()
It was great that you guys could get together! It might be the only time 2 DIS Dads with Goofy shirts meet up. Still no reply from Zazzle to my emails. My VistaPrint stuff has left Philly, which is only 50 miles south. So today was an awesome day. I'll just say that straight out.

You traded ice cream, whipped cream, brownies and fudge for spinach and artichoke? Good call.Sorry guys - no volcano though! Maybe if we hadn't had that awesome spinach artichoke dip appetizer...

I may have to make up a reason to come down.Looks like you guys had a great time!
If any of you are going to be in the Kansas City area, I'm happy to show off local BBQ.
Barry is a celebrity over on the DIS Dad's pages. You should 'lurk' over there and check out some of his 'work'!![]()
Just in case any of you are not following Tim (that's nice)'s Trip Report (and why wouldn't you? It's well written, has great pictures and an adorable family) I've posted a small, randomly selected quote from it to post here.
(See Tim, I told you it would go to my head)
I remember that stretch from September, they ever going to finish it? Normally don't go more than 5 over, it only saves me 30 or 40 minutes on a 9 hour trip and the ticket isn't worth it.
Last fall right as we were gettiing close to Orlando had cars on both sides of me and the semi in front of me blew a tire on the trailer. I have never seen anything like it in my life, had chunks of rubber bouncing off my windshield and no where to go![]()

Still, funniest story I have is the guy I pulled over on his way to WDW....that's a great one!!!!
