Got my first infraction today. Apparently, I was a little to opinionated in a thread about people complaining that there were other people's children allowed to eat in restaurants at WDW. Go figure:confused3

On the way home from work the traffic report on the radio said that there was a 45 mile backup on the Parkway with people coming to the shore. It took me almost a hour to get home (I take all backroads) usally takes me about 25mins. Guess I'll be trapped at my house till they go home Mon night:headache::scared1::mad: This is just the start.

We used to go to LBI every summer, but we would try to avoid travelling on the weekends for that very reason. I always felt sorry for the people who lived there because it gets so crowded on the Parkway. This weekend, especially, is going to be bad. Not only is it Memorial Day, but it is supposed to be in the mid-80s on Sunday and upper-80s to low 90s on Monday. My sympathies to you, but at least you can say you live at the shore.

On another note, we are taking the Auto-Train to Disney in August for a variety of reasons. Any experiences out there? Tips or suggestions?

Thanks,

ClearScreen

We take the Auto Train when we go. Bring a sub or something to eat with you, the dinner is not so great.

Are you riding Coach or Sleeper:confused3

I've done it 4 times now and will be doing it in Dec. again.

When you get off in Sanford you are about 39miles from WDW:woohoo:

Thanks!! Now that's the exact advice I wanted. I had a feeling about that. My wife thanks you as well and we will definitely be bringing a sub (AKA hoagie, grinder, wedge, hero, etc. depending on where you live) or chips or something else to munch on.

We are getting the family bedroom sleeper for the 4 of us. My DS is in love with trains and is more excited about the train ride than Disney. He always asks me how many trains I saw each day and how many I rode on - I take the train and subway to work in Manhattan. He wants me to show him YouTube videos of the AUto-train and the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad every night.

He also has nut/seed allergies so planes make us nervous. We feel like we have more control with him on a train and particularly a family bedroom. I know that Disney is super about food allergies.

Thanks again,

We have only riden Coach, I think they offer steak for the sleepers, don't know how is. The reg menu is Beef Tips, A fish and for the kids it's Choo-Choo nuggets, you can tell it was in the microwave.
Breakfast is not to bad, they have pre-packed bowls of cereal, juice, coffee, bagels & fruit.

There is a Mickey D's near the Lorton station, check in starts at noon till 2, they do not let you on the train till 3, there is a small playground there. Train leaves around 4.
Alot of stuff to look at out the window, you won't believe the crap people have in there back yards, and what is dumped along the tracks:lmao:
If you have any ? let me know.

Oh Yeah! There is a small bar on the train, found it's alot cheaper bringing your own.

Ok, I'm here...

Will have nice digs once I'm in my permanent room....only in "temp" housing at the moment:lmao::lmao:

But I have the internetz.....you guys have a safe Holiday Weekend..

FED

Glad you had a safe trip Fed. :thumbsup2

Only Toll Roads I know of in the South are in Florida.

I've used the one from Orlando to KSC.

Also all this talk of Roundabouts. In the South we call them Raceways and guys in fast cars with numbers on the side race on them for money. :lmao:

There are a few toll roads around Virginia near D.C., Richmond, and the Virginia Beach area. Luckily, The only one that I have been on in the past 10 years or so is the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel. I think that one is $10 heading north to the outer banks and no charge coming back.

Sure is quite in here today?

Holiday weekend? May have to brew some Dole Whip.

If you do, make sure to pour some in your DVD drive and reply to the thread so that we can all have a taste! :lmao:

Geez, next they'll start letting kids on the rides, then the whole place will suck!

Thanks for the support. I only have about 10 subscribed threads, and will occasionally bounce to the Dining Reservations or Theme Park forums. But, if we stopped, we'd miss the standing on the bus threads and skywriter threads.

I have worn those shoes...:lmao::lmao::lmao:

Sometimes you just have to do what's right:thumbsup2

And then everynow and then, they pull out the bangstick:lmao::lmao::lmao:

The Sea SHell Motel is still there, in Beach Haven I think. We usually rent a house from a friend. Growing up in NJ, you always know someone with a house down the shore who will rent it for a week. Very different experience going down with the kids as opposed to renting a house for the summer with the guys from college - you drink a lot less when you want to be drinking a lot more.:thumbsup2

You'll really impress me if you ever saw the Nerds at Joe Pops or danced on the bar at Nardi's.:banana:

Good stuff.

I have to go to work Sun & Mon 5hrs each day:mad: only good point is I'll get paid for 23hrs:woohoo:

Have more than 10,000 pounds of ice in my freezer box for the weekend with another 2,000 pounds coming on Mon.

Secret to the coldest beer (soda) in town, if you are using one of those buckets, put 20lbs of ice in then add water fill up around half way, add beer, then another 20lb bag of ice, keeps the water ice cold for along time after the ice is all gone:banana:
