but when it came time to actually prepare for the reviews - all of the data in the system was gone, companywide - can you say idiotic?!?

I'm guessing the IT guy didn't get a bonus either, huh? :rotfl2::rotfl2:

(full disclosure: I'm an IT guy.:rotfl:)

Ok, so I'm not going back the 3 pages to find the multiple posts I want to quote from - but here's my little "review rant" too... - we just had ours last week 1) should have been 5 weeks ago; 2) performance really doesn't matter at all - like others have said, I basically need to walk on the water AND raise someone from the dead in order to get anything more than a 1/2 cost of living adjustment this year - absolutely stinks. 3) the reviewer is no longer my boss but decided he wanted to still be the one to do it for whatever reason... whatever - but stupid in my opinion; 4) the system this year was completely changed to an online system where you enter your goals and then report the progress on them throughout the year - but when it came time to actually prepare for the reviews - all of the data in the system was gone, companywide - can you say idiotic?!? 5)the bonuses this year were taken away completely across the board - even though many of us truly deserved them... personally I secured over $18M in new lending for our books and my region was profitable... but it just wasn't good enough apparently. Never mind that someone else did a worse job, got a better review and a promotion.

Wow you got a 1/2 cost of living adjustment? We lost that about 10 years ago. :confused3

Hey now, I'm the reviewer for my guys..but I do it right:thumbsup2:rotfl2::lmao::lmao::lmao:

Our "Executive Leadership" is the main issue:confused3

popcorn::popcorn::popcorn::

:lmao:

On the reviews, I had mine on Monday. Not a huge surprise as my boss and I talk daily and get along pretty well. Only disappointment is that our pool was allocated X % but then both corporate and our business unit kept "holdbacks" so they have some slack for later in the year.

Please count me in on this Club. :cool1:

Welcome from a VA guy that is visiting your fine town this week!

:lmao: you know you have been married to long when. you meet your dw for dinner. you cut her off in the parking lot to get out first. she passes you while you wait for a light to turn. the next light you flip each other off. she goes one way i go the other way and i beat her home.:lmao: she did beat me into the shower.:mad: had to let her win at something.:lmao:

:lmao::lmao::lmao: Sounds like something my DW and I would do!

Too dang many. It's even better when two DDs (7,5) get to press their talking button over and over again. The Chipmunk girl that both of them received says "Oh, it's beautiful". So, after hearing it a few dozen times, I say to DW, "how about I shove it up their butt so when they fart, you'll hear 'it's beautiful'". Both children heard it - and repeated it - :eek: - waiting to hear from school anyday.

:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

I think DW is getting the last laugh on this one. DVC = yes, under one conition. a BIG ONE. HUGE!

I have to quit smoking.........

Good luck :thumbsup2 and a prayer for you that quitting will be a bit easier.

4) the system this year was completely changed to an online system where you enter your goals and then report the progress on them throughout the year

Sounds exactly like the system our company put in this last year. It's idiotic because the goals that are 'passed down' to me are completely irrelevant to my position, but I am supposed to come up with 'tasks' that will measure how I am meeting those 'goals'. Sure, I have nothing better to do with my time. It's not like anyone expects me to get any ACTUAL work done. :rolleyes1 If I did all of the 'HR' stuff that we're given I would never get anything done. (nothing personal if any of the Dad's work in HR :lmao:)

Ya think? :lmao::lmao::lmao:
I'm in IT too Barry, and I can only imagine what would happen to 'that guy' if this were to happen at our company. :scared1:

Our reviews are coming up in the next few weeks. I expect to get the "you're doing a good job" spiel, along with "the company is freezing wages again this year, subject to review later in the year". :rolleyes1 Oh well, since I don't yet have a degree I'm at the bottom of the totem pole any way. So, the measly 'cost of living' increase doesn't amount to very much... :laughing:

I quit but have started again. How about a challenge? Taking DD and 6 GFs next weekend so it is not going to happen next week but what about the week after? Can we do this? You in? Willing to make a wager if you are interested.

Yeah, but we used to get both cola & then merit increases on top of that... it's just been going down hill for years now.

I understand that, our last Merit increase was in 2006. We have seen nothing since then. But again I work for one of the 3 Domestic Auto Companies so technically since we have not made money in the last 5 years we probably dont deserve the increase. :confused3

You mean you didn't trip her on the race into the house. you must really love her! :lmao:

Sounds like my younger son, they were doing an assignment on time and he brought home some of his completed work from in-class work. The questions were on how many hours you spend doing certain things. He wrote he spends 12 hrs a day watching tv and sleeps 6 hrs a night. The teachers comments were just one word "WOW!". I told my wife we would probably get a call any day now.:lmao::lmao:

That reminds me... I have tried to order the DVC video on 3 separate occasions on the Disney site.. and still no DVD! Wonder if my DW has been intercepting them... :scratchin

Hey Don...I think I have 2 of those DVD's...I could send one to you... :ssst:

*shudder* If I smoked, that'd get me to quit cold turkey.

Reading all these stories about performance reviews lends credence to a pet theory of mine: is there a single person who has had a good experience with their HR department?

Ok Guys I need a little help here.I have a decision to make here.

Looking at trip in Dec 2010.Would like to go Nov 24 through Dec 4th, this would allow us the most time with taking the kids out of school the least.The problem is I know it gets mobbed Thanksgiving and that weekend.So if its that crowded would the kids enjoy it? ( is it worse then Aug crowds). We have been there before the same time frame but stayed away from the parks until the Monday following Thanksgiving,but this time we would like to do the parks as soon as we get there.

The other option is to go Dec 3 through Dec 11th this would involve taking kids out of school one more day ( Kids are good students in elementary school one in jr high(she is straight A) ).Would it really hurt to take them out that one extra day?. :teacher:

With both options I have to take them out of school which I dont really like to do ,but have change my thinking to allow it.
Option one gives me a little more time there but does not put me there with the rest of the Dis Dads.:eek:
I think both options have a chance of being there when the parade taping is going on.( which with the 5 kids I am not sure the crowd will go over to well with them)

I think I am leaning to the 3rd - 11th

oh what to do??:confused3:confused3

To add fuel to the whole appraisal fire, since we were going down hill all last year, some genius HR VP decided that we were not going to prepare goals for 2009. So what do you think we had to do in November? Come up with results for goals that we never had. Basically we had to back into them. So since we had no Goals then it should have been easy and everyone should have had a MET goals on their Appraisal right? Wrong, there are people that were hand picked to go into the "NEEDS Development" category. Those people are now being reviewed by the new CEO and may end up getting let go. What a crock, thankfully I am not one of them since I always have goals in case something like that happens. :)

If this economy does not improve soon for the Automotive companies it will only get worse.

So how was dinner?! I take it you fight over who pays the bill too? :rotfl:
