Don't be like me. A couple years ago I make a last minute run to the drug store to buy DW a card. As I'm standing there looking at cards with all the other losers who waited til the last minute, I hear a familiar voice say "Whatcha readin'?" It was DW. She had been shopping next door, saw my car, and immediately figured out what I was doing. She asks for the card right then and there, reads it, and puts it back. She says, "I just saved you four bucks. Let's go." Busted. The other slackers got a good chuckle as I slinked out the door.

Shopping completed. At the Disney Store, of course. This trip in October is going to be a surprise, but I can drop hints for the next seven months, right?

Oh, and for those still shopping, Disney plush dolls are buy one get one free (at least at my Disney Store.)

My wife and I actually both agree that Valentine's Day is a stupid holiday. If I haven't made her feel special on the other 364 days of the year, chances are I'm not going to make up for it in one day. So we just sit back and relax, then buy all the candy for 50% off on Feb. 15th.

I contacted Dave's nephew at work today and he doesn't seem to know of anything that could be wrong with him. They live in the same town so, in a way, I guess that's good news! Maybe he is just having PC problems. I noticed his last post was about a week ago on an OKW thread. If anyone hears from him, let us all know!

In totally unrelated news, is there a Dis Dad's group for home school dads here? I ask because: a) I don't want to talk with a bunch of girls about home schooling woes, and b) I have some garbage I need to vent about that a home schooling dad would understand.

Thoughts? I fear making my own thread. Thar be sharks in them waters...

I've not seen one - but we homeschool. If you want to PM chat/vent that works. Of course, I don't mind clogging up this thread at all, but the other dads might, not that I'm really worried about such things. Fire away!

Yup, it's going to be a great night.

Let me just say my heart and prayers go out to the family of the young man who was killed today. This is a completely tragic event. I hope they are able to find peace in the days to come.

I agree...they sent him off for one of the happiest and proudest times of his life and this tragedy happens. They keep replaying the accident on tv and I hope that his family does not have to see that. He hit very hard.

So, who do you think is going to light the torch. I am thinking Gretzky.....we are tuned in and waiting to see how this one compares to the opener in Beijing

I love the Olympics, especially the Winter Games. Very sad to hear about the luge accident. Saw it replayed and had to turn my head. I love the luge but the course is way too fast. Very sad.

Have to go to watch the opening ceremonies. Go USA!
