At Christmas my in-laws asked if it would be OK to take my son to WDW in July (he will still be 4 and on his 5th visit). Of course I would never deny the little man on trip to WDW. My wife calls me today at work, asking if we could go since father-inlaw found a good airline price. I think I was set up for this one. I told her she could go since she has a 4 day no exp pass left from a couple of years ago when I could not get off, they have a time share and really would not cost anything. I declined knowing this will help the Dec. trip + the fact of 1- I don't fly. 2- I really don't like Fl in July and most of all I really don't want to vacation with the in-laws:lmao:

Ohhhh... the classic Disney vs. In laws debate.
Since mine live 40 minutes from WDW, i really can't avoid them while vacationing with there.
You're a bigger man than me - if anyone in my family is going to WDW, I'm going with them!

Mine live 10 mins. from my house, they are here all the time. I did it with them once, don't get me wrong I really like them, but felt I was held back. Mostly the issue's are the flying and heat in July!:lmao:

I did the in laws with us one year to Disney and it was the worst vacation I ever had in my life. Mark it down...it will NEVER happen again!

I agree with it could be a debate. I did two trips with both parents and In-laws. They all thought Disney was a one or two day thing. I did not educate them. They spent time with the grandchild and it was like the Jim Carrey line, "OK, Bye Bye now." They were special trips with the Grandparents but then we were off to enjoy ourselves.

I'm 40 hours away from our trip!!!

Hey DisneyFed ... take care of things down there. I'll be there Friday!!!!
Have a great time and give Fed our best! Disney Daddy-0, too.

Slow day today, huh?

Anyone want to make a friendly wager on the next time KTME get's any sleep? Vegas is putting the over/under at 2.5 weeks. :rotfl2:
Welcome home, little Gabe!

:rotfl2:Last night was the first night that Gabe was home....no sleep! It is all well worth it though.

As far as taking In-Laws to Disney....NEVER! That is my happy place.

I agree with Barry--nobody in my family goes to WDW without me! :lmao:

However, I think I luck out in this department. My in-laws are in their 70's and barely survived going on the cruise with us. There's no way they could handle WDW. Whew! :rolleyes1

:rotfl2:

Sounds like you might need us to send a steady stream of Starbucks/Dunkin Donuts gift cards your way, to keep the coffee coming. Or maybe we can hook up an IV of Red Bull to your veins. :lmao:

This brings back memories. My son didn't sleep for the first 6 months. My wife would get up and nurse him, then hand him to me to try and rock him to sleep while we each scraped an hour of sleep here and there. She said she always knew it was time to come relieve me around 3:00 a.m. when, after an hour of the baby screaming, she heard my frustrated cry, "Will you PLEASE shut up!" :rotfl2:

As you know, being a Dad is full of beautiful, sensitive and glamorous moments such as these.

Thanks Mike! 13 hours before we leave!!! :dancer:

have a good trip!!! we took my in laws in 86, the year after we got married. NEVER HAPPENED AGAIN!!! :woohoo: they hate florida!!! :woohoo: its to hot and to buggy!! im a lucky man!!!:lmao: but they will go to cape may 8 times in a summer and go into the crusty atlantic ocean and get sun burned.:thumbsup2

Now this is a sunrise I can get used to seeing every morning. Screen shot taken from an Animal Kingdom live stream over at another website. I'd post the name of it, but the DIS appears to *** it out. :confused3
No animals this morning, but I did see a few giraffes yesterday.

Live streams from the World by people who keep their EYES ON the EARS! A very cool site! :rotfl:

Have done Disney a couple of times with the In Laws but I think that the last time was THE LAST TIME! DMIL gets a picture in her head about this perfect vacation but, as you guys know, vacations never go exactly as planned and everyone has their own idea of the perfect vacation... She also likes to sleep late, and doesn't like crowds, walking for long periods of time, or heat. Did I mention that this was in June?!?

And Kevin, Sorry to read that Gabe had a rough start, but Congratulations on your Baby Boy! I hope that Mom and Son are both doing great!

We have never done WDW with the in-laws, and only this last trip was with my own folks... it was not a bad experience, though it certainly could have been better somewhat too. In the end - we wouldn't mind doing it again with them...the question would be, would they want to do it again with us? In the end - I'm with Barry - if someone in the family is going to WDW - I want to go too.

We have done DL with the in-laws, and those times are definitely times I don't necessarily want to repeat...though we probably will subject ourselves to that once more later this year. But they are local to DL, so they can go home at the end of the day (or when they feel they are done) and that will be just fine with me! :rotfl:

Sounds like a win-win situation for you! You get a few days home alone (eating pizza, drinking beer, and leaving stuff around...basically living in a true "MAN ROOM") and still get to go to dis in Dec. Awesome...

My in-laws dropped a hint not too long ago that they were considering joining us on the Dec 2010 trip. I squashed that idea pretty quickly. For that trip in particular, I'd like to just have the kids and wife to worry about as I introduce the little ones to WDW. Plus, if they were to join us, someone would have to start a "Dis Dads in December with in-laws" thread. :rotfl2: In the future though, I'm glad to have them come along. They're fairly well-off, generous and lots of fun. The only downside ist that it's a pride-swallowing experience every time they insist on paying for stuff. But hey- I can only fight them on that for so long. And if they want to subsidize a WDW trip, that means I can return that much sooner. :woohoo:

I've been Twice with MIL and FIL.

Once wih Maw and Paw.

Needless to say they "slowed us down", bu tI'm glad they got to experience that time with the Grandkids...and the other way around. :goodvibes

oh...and they also paid for it. :thumbsup2

Yes it might be, but as you say - you can return that much sooner. For me, I have learned to just smile and say thanks whenever my IL's want to pay for something. It wasn't always that way - but hey, after 3 kids... you bet I'll let them pay if they offer!

We did a quick 5 day WDW trip with my mother-in-law. She is awesome though. I get a kick out of when my DW and her get into arguments though. I just sit back and laugh. It's comedy! :lmao:

Better to be in your own house than in that hospital!

Congrats!!!!! BTW!!!!!!!

South bound and down, loaded up and truckin',
we're gonna do what they say can't be done.
We've got a long way to go and a short time to get there.
We are aSouth bound, just watch ol' "DisneyDadC" run.

Keep your foot hard on the pedal.Never mind them brakes.
Let it all hang out 'cause we got a run to make.
The Mouse is a thirsty in Disney, and there's beer in World Showcase.
And we'll bring it back no matter what it takes.

Ol' Smokey's got them ears on and he's hot on our trail.
He aint gonna rest 'til were in jail.
So we got to dodge 'im and we got to duck 'im,
we got to keep that minivan a moving'.
Just put that hammer down and give it hell.
