You have some great pics. I hope to go there, once everything is finished. That BBQ deck looks really cool.
I see in your sig. you are a former CM, what did you do there?
Nothing overly exciting...really. When I hired in, I really was trying for attractions, but got "placed" (read stuck) in foods simply because the prior summer I had worked in foods at Universal Studios Hollywood (I was 16 that summer and they had me working at the Beer Bar on the Lower Lot...16...I couldn't even legally pour the beer and I was working at that location. Whatever!) Anyway, so the DL Casting Center decided I was "experienced" with foods, so I was placed into Fantasyland Foods. My primary location was Carnation Plaza Gardens, which while covered under the FF umbrella, was actually located at the end of Main Street, on the permiter of the hub, next to the castle. CPG was an awesome location in that it had a burger /ice cream stand but also a covered dance floor. Now granted it wasn't anywhere I really wanted to go dancing on a Saturday night, but it sure was fun to watch the folks who did... BIG BAND and SWING were the name of the game, and the older generation came out in droves each weekend! We had "regulars" who would come by each weekend - even ordering the same meal or dessert each time they were there.

I was a high school & college aged kid at the time, so it was just not my thing then. I happen to love those types of music now, but back then, no way.
I started off like most any newbie, on the cash register selling the food, between both sides - the food and the ice cream. Later I found my way into the kitchen as a cook. I also trained new hires. It was a lot of fun. On your feet the entire time and hard work sure. But I made some great friends there - many of whom I'm still in contact with today - one of which I got to see while out there.
At times when the location was down for rehab, or they just needed help with different locations, or there were special events I worked at other locations in the park, including Village Haus, the old Big Thunder Ranch BBQ, the old Yumz location at Videopolis (the COOL dance place), River Belle Terrace (one of Walt's personal favorites) in Frontierland, Stage Door Cafe (next door to the Golden Horseshoe) - I don't think there were others, but maybe. I remember some special events I worked too, like Elizabeth Taylor's Private Birthday Party - I think it was her 50th...she rented out the park for the evening and the primary party was up at Videopolis...all the guests had to board the train at Main Street and then ride around to the party area as they had to be there first before they could enjoy any part of the park... that was cool. Michael Jackson had a party like that there too that I worked. They were fun times.
