Just found the thread. Widowed dad of three kids. Brendan 9 and Jessica and Ciara 6 (yes twins).

We went to WDW for the first time last May, and I liked it so much, bought a resale DVC contract. Our first "truip home" will be May 27th, 2010, 8 nights at AKV, 2 bedroom.

How did you get a resale DVC and how much did it save you????

Welcome to you and our other new dads - that's very cool that you liked it that much you bought DVC right away! I love it!

I can't speak for alamode, but Steve if you go over to the DVC boards, they are sponsored by The Timeshare Store, which is one of several timeshare brokers that specialize in DVC resales. There are a lot of different potential deals out there to be had. Buying directly from Disney currently is $112 per point (though there are a bunch of different incentives available if you know an existing member as a referral) that can bring the per point cost down to as low as $92 per point. Disney retains the "right of first refusal" on all potential sales contracts, but you can find a deal, depending on resort, for something like $75-90 per point. Every deal is different - but with resale you could buy in for as few as 25 points, whereas direct from Disney new members must start with 160 points. On the top of the DVC boards, there are points charts as well so you could explore and see how many points you would need for the various resorts, accomodations and times of year. If you want to talk about it further, I'm happy to help you out - just send me questions via PM. We're very happy with our DVC membership!

stopher1 - I was reading your post about being a CM, sounds like you had a good time and saw alot of neat stuff.

Yes, a we drowned some worms at POR's ol' fishin' hole. Hope you enjoy the report...I'll be writing the last installment soon.

I'm in West Grove, which is down in the corner near Delaware and Maryland. I am originally from the opposite corner though...up towards Erie.

:thumbsup2 were only about 11/2 hours from you. i havnt been to sea side hgts in about 25 years, still the same?

The boardwalk is pretty much the same. The crowd is different, mostly teenagers & college kids, it's not as family friendly like it used to be. Only go once a year now for the car show and to enter the raffles on the boardwalk.
