I've seen something in the past - can't remember where to be honest - that is laid out as a challenge for anyone going to WDW. The idea is that you have a day during your holiday where you have to meet certain targets e.g. go on particular rides, have your photos taken with specific characters.
I was thinking it would be fun to set up our own UK Dis Challenge, but need your input as to what we all think would be achievable. We want it to be fun - not impossible, but also a challenge - not easy.
So what do you reckon?
We could even have different challenges that involve a specific park, and a big challenge that involves all 4.
So what could these be - and would you give the a go while there to get your name in the Hall of Fame :thumbsup2

I've never heard of anything like this before - sounds intriguing :)

The only thing that would rule me out is if the mandatory rides required were the scary type where cowards like me who can't be persuaded to go on Tower of Terror if you paid me a fortune - ever - in a million years - and then some....were included.

Those are pretty much the only thing I'm not game for, but if it was made a 'ride either/or' scenario then I think it could be fun!

This sounds awesoooooome! I've read a few people who do it and we totally want to do like a 4 park challenge on day on our next trip.

Reading Disneymad's post I think perhaps we need a couple of challenges, as we would want to make it a headliner kind of thing.

I think we'd have to maybe rule out TSM as the lines can just be too insane...?

I agree - it needs to be something that everyone can do if they are willing to go for it, and TSM would make it impossible I would think.
Maybe we need to do one that focuses on the headliners (e.g the mountains at MK amongst other things) and another that is more geared towards those that don't do big rides.
We could also do one for kids that concentrates on the smaller rides and characters, maybe a boys/girls one and then the Big 4 for the big kids :goodvibes

Is 3 rides per park too much? Could we include characters in that or would we need to have a seperate one for each?

oohh this sounds fun, im in:goodvibes
how about pictures with mickey, minnie a princess and a n other?
complete a kim possiblechallenge?
ride a rollercoaster (kids could do barn stormer) and two trains (BTRR and the train around MK?/monorail?)
eat something only found at wdw?
do a show (nemo/or any at HS)

Or maybe just 2, a 'Big Cheese' challenge that could include the thrill rides and then a 'Family' one (that doesn't have to be family, but rather just family friendly). All the thrill rides in the big one effectively rules out many kids anyhow due to height restrictions etc anyhow. That way there's something with the E rides and there's something for all the wimps like me...er, obviously I mean something people can do with their kids. Could start simple, then can always add in new challenges along the line if it proves really popular? :)

In shock news I like the suggestion of eating things only found at WDW, LOL.

Could have some challenges like riding something after dark (BTMRR, Jungle Cruise, Expedition Everest, that sort of thing).

Have your picture taken wearing 3D glasses at each park.

Hmm, will ponder some more...

Would it not be best to have a selection of different challenges? More work and imagination to set up, but this could include a range of ages, groups and families.

There could be some ride challenges, some character challenges and some photo challenges. If there is just one, then it will always exclude certain people, but if you let each group/family pick their challenge then they can go with something that suits their party. Also, having several to choose from would mean that if you liked one, you could do another one or more.

You could add in a Write Your Own Challenge too. A party could hit on an idea, for example, this year I want DD and I to have our picture taken in each WS pavillion trying on a hat from that country on one of our Epcot days. That would allow us to share a new idea to add to the list.

Well bear in mind I've not actually heard of anything like this before so was just making my blind comments from the OP - don't really know what I'm talking about, hehe.

Initially it was said as a 'Challenge' - singular, with the only mention of multiple in that there was one at each park and then perhaps a 4 parks version.

Obviously if someone's willing to put in the work to make multiple challenges then that's cool, but on the other hand, if there really is going to be a 'Hall of Fame' then you can't have too many challenges otherwise I'm thinking each Hall of Fame is only going to have 1 or 2 people in it...so not really much of a Hall.

Or am I really off base about how this would work?

Some items/challenges could be as follows (you would need to take a photo of each:
1. Trade a pin with a cast member.
2. Have a drink at club cool.
3. Have a dole whip
4. Meet 10 or more characters
5. Have a photo taken with a disney villian.
6. Buy or receive a Disney themed Button
7. Take a photo of the flag in a set country.
8. Take photo of 10 hidden mickeys
9. Get Mickeys Autograph
10. Photo in front of all 4 park icons. AK- Tree etc.
11. A photo of you wearing mickey ears.
12. A ride on any type of Train
13. A photo of the 3D glasses
14. A water ride, this can include the boat rides like Its a small world.
15. A photo in the telephone booths in uk.
16. A photo of a wild animal.
17. A photo at a resort other than the one your staying at.
18. Eat a mickey shaped item (cookie, ice cream)
19. A photo in each country in epcot.
20. A show photo, this could even just be a photo of you going into a show.

And i am sure we can all come up with much more.

I think it could be done over the whole holiday and should include lots of simple things to do. If a ride is closed or attraction you just need to take a photo of the sign stating this.

By the way i think its an excellent idea.

No not at all. We are all pretty much making this up as we go along but I am definately into the idea of having more than one challenge to enable families to take part, and the more adventurous of us do the Big 4. I do agree that having too many would complicate the issue - and maybe even dilute the achievement when people do complete them.
I also think we need to have at least one big challenge that is exactly that - a challenge. One day, all 4 parks, specifics to be sorted at a later date :thumbsup2
Keep the ideas coming guys - we'll have this up and running in no time.

One more thing - what proof would be acceptable that people had really completed things on the same day :confused3

I am so up for this, i am a born commando tourer, and love a good mission:thumbsup2

Trust ..... and a concience (ask Jimminy Cricket to keep an eye out ;))

Just thinking of something along similar lines, the Unofficial Guide's Ultimate Touring Plan. What the guests have to do is to keep a log of information of time of day, wait times, etc. It may work with a set sheet which has to be completed with the relevant information.

Me and my brother did a challenge when we went in Feb, if you look in my trip report in my sig. On The final day, we had done all the parks so decided to do the following all in one day:-

Epcot - Soaring & Test Track
MGM - Tower Of Terror & Rock & Roller Coaster
Magic Kingdom - Space & Splash Mountain
Animal Kingdom - Everest & Rapids

In all honesty, we didnt complete the task, even though the park wasnt busy, we got really distracted through out the day and ended up staying in Hollywood studios!
