The difference between online reservations and calling

I like online. It's nice to be able to put in a time and place and if that's not available be able to see all the options available around the time specified. It's also nice to have a print out of the reservation. My DH did some of our ADR over the phone and the CM re-read them to him and she had PM instead of AM for one of our ADR's and if my DH didn't catch it we would have been SOL. So I personally think online is the way to go.

Well, we booked after the 90 day window so with that in mind -- I prefer calling because it seems faster for the CM to check. Their system seems to let them view all available times for a certain day, unlike the online system which you have to put in a specific hour. Also, the online system makes you re-enter your info for every restaurant. (Maybe that's just because I haven't created an account though)

I imagine if you are planning to do your adrs on the day though online may be faster specially if you can't connect to a CM.

For me the big difference is that calling works while the online reservations seem to just experience alot of technical difficulties.

I was able to call in and get the reservations I wanted without a problem while almost every time I have tried to use the online system for anything it fails and I receive an error message.

If you are trying to get "hard to get" reservations, I would seriously recommend calling. At least if you call you will have a chance to get what you want rather than fighting with technology while someone else is talking to the CM and getting the reservation you may have been trying to secure online for hours. (Of course this excludes the time between online reservations and phone reservations opening up.)

Good luck!

Big difference - online, they will show you several other options for your time, if your choice is not available.

A human person would not be able to do that as fast as the online system does....

Both of those are also possible when you book over the phone.

I booked on the 4/3 promotion last week. It happened to be the same day as the 90 day window opened. I could book an ADR for the first day, but I could not get the system to book any following days of our stay. Was this normal or just my inability to figure it out? So I called and got the remainder of the days' ADRs.

The one I did book was really easy. I would have booked the whole trip if I could have.

The online system is great when you can get it to work. I still don't trust it 100%. I like the conveience of it, but it does have glitches. I still call to confirm all of my reservations.
