Just returned from our S.C. trip and spent 3 days at DLR. Just a little background info here... I used a combination of ridemax and hydroguys tips to try and maximize our DLR experience. I did not utilize ridemax in a traditional way but used it to create spreadsheets showing the average wait times at each hour throughout the day for each ride and then designed an itinerary which kept us from walking back and forth across the park but allowed us to ride as many rides as possible in the time we had. Here is the full report.

We stayed at the Ramada limited suites on Harbor. I hate to say this but I was very disappointed in this hotel. The hotel was described as being 2 blocks from DLR. In actuality it was over a mile and was not walkable with 2 kids under 6. We decided to use ART to get to and from the park. The hotel was also under some sort of renovation and so guest laundry was not available, the front lobby was torn apart during check in, and 2 of 3 ice machines were not functioning. In addition the pool was neither indoors or out but located in what appears to have once been a covered parking area and the pool was not heated!!!! The jacuzzi was heated but the jets did not work and it was essentially useless as well. We only swam once during our stay because of such. Our room was supposed to be a 3 room suite consisting of 2 bedrooms (one a king and one 2 queens) and a living room with fold out couch, coffee table, fridge, and desk. In reality our room was 2 rooms. One had the 2 queens and the fridge in it. The other was what I can only believe to once have been the living room and the hotel decided to shove another queen bed into the corner. Space was cramped and the decor was outdated. Overall I rate this hotel a 2 out of 5 only because the prices were good and they did provide a continental breakfast which consisted of danishes, cereal, oatmeal, fresh fruit, milk, juices, and coffee. I would not recommend this hotel to other DISers.

Thursday June 28th:

We Arrived!
wevearrived.jpg

We used our early entry day right away on thursday and woke up at 5:30am to get ready and get to the park. (Devildad's do not get up at 5:30am and tend to be grumpy...) We had to catch the very first ART bus in order to get to the park early for a good spot near the front of the line. First bus was slated to arrive at 6:20am. It arrived about 6:35am. We reached the park at 6:40 and found ourselves behind a large group of groggy EE'ers. By the time the park opened for EE the line had doubled so we were actually in the middle. We made it through the gates at about 7:15 and headed for Fantasyland. There were CMs lined up on mainstreet and in the hub directing Nemo traffic and a lot of stampeding towards nemo even at 7am. Between 7:15 and 8:00 we were able to ride in this order.

Exiting the teacups it was actually 8:05 and the lines around us were starting to build. We decided to Storybook Canal Boats next and had about a 15 minute wait. From there we rode every ride in Fantasyland except for the EE ones we missed which we rode later in the day before 9am and we headed off to toontown.

We arrived in Toontown about 10min after 9am and I grabbed RR fastpasses while the family made their way to Mickey and Minnies houses. Ridemax stated that Minnies house already has 45 minute wait times by 10am and to do it first... However, we had 0 wait at Minnies (she was not at her house during this time though). We did have about a 15 minute wait to see Mickey and visit his house. While we were waiting in line Minnie and Goofy scampered past us towards Gadgets Go Coaster and Mrs Devil took the little devils over to get autographs while I waited in line.
minnie-goofy-kids.jpg

Once they returned we were just about to the front of the line.
mickeyfamily.jpg

My advice is to do Mickeys 1st and hold off on Minnies until afterwards. After Mickeys we headed to the gadget go coaster but it was down. So we visited the other toontown attractions such as chip n dales, and goofys and headed back for Roger Rabbit.
gmakidsjailed.jpg

Mrs Devil chose not to ride because she was feeling sick to her stomach and preferred not to spin around... we had zero wait with our fastpasses at 9:45am. Coming off RR my wife had located Pluto next door and we hurried over for autographs.
pluto2.jpg

At 10am we made our way to the Princess Fantasy Faire. We got in a line that was neither short nor long and proceeded to wait, and wait, and wait... The line moved extremely slow and after about 30 minutes of waiting without moving I flagged down a castmember and asked her what the wait time was for this event. She said "from this point, I'd say over two hours". WHOA! We decided to ditch the PFF for another day (we never did get back). The castmembers suggestion was to get in line first thing in the morning even though it does not open until 10.

Thanks to poor planning by DevilDaddy we had lost 40 minutes of our day on nothing so we decided to hit up the Jedi Training Academy. The kids desperately wanted to ride another ride at this point so we took the train over to tomorrowland from toontown. Neither child of mine could be coaxed into becoming Jedi's so we just watched. It was a great show and the master Jedi was entertaining and funny. However, they did select about 50 kids total - which IMO was way too many and the show seemed to lag during the fight sequences because of the amount of young jedis. But I'm sure that had my kids been participating I would have had a different outlook. All in all it was a great time.

Now it was about 11:30 and the park was filling up. We decided to head back to the hotel for lunch soon and figured we'd try and find one last ride and grab splash mtn fastpasses before leaving the park. We lucked out and pretty much walked on to Star Tours which became DD5's favorite ride (she loved the "silver captain".) I grabbed fastpasses for SPlash with a return time of 4pm and we met back at the bus stop.

We intended on returning to the park at 3pm for the early showing of the parade but we overslept from our nap. We returned at 5ish and went straight to Splash.

Devilwife stepped off the curb on mainstreet wrong and rolled her ankle bad. She pulled a ligament and we thought might have broken a bone. This will manifest itself later.

DD5 quickly started having second thoughts about Splash but with a little coaxing she agreed to ride it. We made a deal that dad wouldn't make her ride anything that would be too scary and if she didn't like a ride she wouldn't have to ride it a second time no matter what... that seemed to help. We waited about 15 minutes in the fastpass line but the normal line was 55 minutes at this point so once again FP saved the day. We got our own log... with DS5 sitting in the front, 250lb gpa sitting second chair (to get us all wet..his evil plan), gma sitting 3rd, DW sitting 4th, a skipped chair, and DD and I sitting in the tandem seat in the rear of the log. I did not know that they had changed the seating since I was last at DL and had promised DD she could sit between my legs while waiting... when she found out she had to sit in her own seat she freaked and I nearly had to skip out on the ride with her... but the tandem seat saved us. Personally I liked the old splash seating better.

After splash it was 5:30 and we had to check in at Blue Bayou at 6:15 so we had about 45 minutes to kill. We rode winnie the pooh with a 5min wait. then walked down to the jungle cruise and rode that.

At the BB we checked in on time at 6:15. I asked if we could request a waterside table and they responded by saying it would be an additional hour wait. We declined and figured oh well... its a new experience and any table will be good. We were seated at our PS time of 6:30 and our table was waterside. My wife ordered the crab legs and I had the prime rib. Neither of us felt our food was 4 star by any means. The service was good but not great and we did have to wait for refills for quite some time. But the ambience was amazing and although I don't think I would do it again I would recommend dining here at least once.

We exited BB around 7:30 just as early comers were staking out spots for the first Fantasmic showing. By this time DW's ankle was hurting pretty bad and she couldn't put much pressure on it so she decided to stake our claim to a 8ft patch of concrete right down front near the railing. I decided to set off to find some asprin and an icepack if at all possible. DS and gpa stayed with DW as DD and gma left with me. We boarded the train once again and rode it around the park until we reached main street. At main street we fought our way through crowds already staking out fireworks spots until we reached the first aide office. Unfortunately they can't give me medication to give to her and she had to be present... They told me where I could buy asprin but I couldn't locate the shop and DW started calling by this time demanding that we return soon because the crowds were building and moving in on our territory. So we hit the train and choo choo'd our way back to New Orleans.

Fanstamic was incredible. Both kids sat with their eyes wide and jaws dropped the whole time. DD can be heard on film screaming "I love you mickey... I love you peter pan... I love you Cinderella...etc etc" the whole time. After Fantasmic we stayed sitting waiting for the crowds to move out before attempting to mobilize our injured mom.. but we ended up sitting through the fireworks as well. We saw the majority of the actual fireworks from N.O. but the characters we obviously blocked from view. We did get the sound through the speaker system that was in place for Fantasmic.

After Fantasmic we hit the Haunted Mansion and PotC. We were going to stop at Indy and see if our kids could ride but Indy was down (which it seems it always is) and so we walked right up to the measuring stick. DD was just tall enough according to one cast member and just too small according to another. She stood under the marker with her little head just scraping the bottom of the 46" stick. The cast member that thought she was too small was pulling her hair back tight and sliding a piece of paper between her head and the post to show us why she said DD was a no go. Then they spoke for a minute and decided that she could get on to Indy the next day (just wear thick socks). But then we had DS attempt to make the height requirements and there was a good inch or more... they are a package deal, so no Indy.

We grabbed a churro and some popcorn in N.O. square and boarded the railroad back to the main gates. I had to trick Mrs Devil into going to the medical office by telling her we were getting a souvenier I thought she would like. The nurse looked at her and said she sees a lot of twisted ankles and my wifes looked pretty bad. She wouldn't say whether it might be broken or not but did confirm the ligament damage and gave us an icepack and some painkillers and a free wheelchair for tomorrow. She warned my wife to ice it every 20 minutes for the next 24 hours and to stay off it as much as possible. From there we hobbled our way to the gate. We exited the park around 10:30.

Day 1 we rode almost all of Fantasyland, all of Toontown, Critter Country, and New Orleans Square. We also hit Jungle Cruise, Star Tours, and used the railroad quite a bit. We saw Fantasmic and ate at BB as well.

Day 2 - Friday June 29th.

We woke up.. which was not easy for the little devils after walking non stop until 11pm... and proceeded to get ready. My plan was to be on the first bus to DLR at 7:00am but we actually didn't make it until 7:30... we boarded the bus at 7:40 and arrived at 7:45. This forced us to adjust our entire day because we were going to attempt to ride Nemo first thing by being early to the park and making the determined walk to nemo first... we decided in line to check the nemo line when we got in and if it was already over 40 minutes we would just skip nemo altogether. Nemo was 45 minutes at 8:15 and we declined to ride it.

We started in Tomorrowland and I grabbed autopia fps first thing. We then rode buzz lightyear, astro orbitor,
astroorbitor-gpaty.jpg

and star tours with no wait. By this time it was past 8:40 when autopia was slated and we made our way over there. Mrs Devil was not feeling well at all thanks to her ankle and she did not ride astro orbitor nor did she want to ride autopia. So she waited for us, which I assured her would be quick because we had fast passes. So we marched up the entry way and found a CM. I asked them where the FP line was and he said that the lines will split further up and to just hand my FPs to the CM at the turnstiles. We hit the turnstiles inside of 2 minutes and I held out my FPs. The CM looked at them and looked at me and then said "Sorry but we're not accepting fastpasses this early. There isn't even a wait." Well then, why turn on the FP machine at 8am if you don't want people using FP before 10? Oh well.... she said there was no wait. She lied! We waited over 15 minutes just to get to the cue. I was visibly irritated I guess but none the less we rode, I pushed the pedal and the kids took turns steering our way through autopia.

From here we sort of abandoned the itinerary and decided to return to fantasyland to ride the rides we missed the previous day. We rode the carrousel,
kingarthurscarousel.jpg

Mr toad, snow white and pinnocchio. We just skipped casey jrs circus train altogether.

It was now closing in on 11am so we decided to break for lunch. Walking down main street we found Mary Poppins and Burt and got in line to meet them. There was an asian woman ahead of us with a large group of about 6-8 kids. She seemed bilingual but english was obviously not her primary language. Anyway, some lady spotted the line and then the characters and dragged her two kids in line behind us. She immediately started loudly talking about how slow this was going (she'd been waiting a total of 15 seconds) and then started counting out how many people and groups were in front of her. When she got to the asian lady she actually walked around us and tapped her on the shoulder. When the started woman spun around this dumb broad said in no polite tone "Are you sending them up as a group or are you going to have them go one at a time?" The poor lady looked around and then stuttered "group". This rude woman then said "Good". and walked back behind us. So the asian kids spend a total of 60 seconds up there just taking pictures with no interaction at all and then it's our turn. I send my kids up there together with their autograph books open and pens ready and each heads to Mary Poppins first... The lady behind me says "Come one... one can get the other guys signature first... lets go". So my kids get their books signed and we start taking pictures, the rude woman again verbalizes her dissapointment in our timeliness. So fed up I spin around to tell her off and my wife squeezes my wrist ever so intentionally. Luckily I stopped short of verbally beating this woman but I did look her straight in the eye and say "Haven't you heard the expression... patience is a virtue." She shut up momentarily. But she still pushed and shoved her kids towards the characters. It was sad really because we all felt rushed by this rude woman and the characters were really interacting with my kids well. As she was marching up the stairs and my kids back down a lady bug landed on Burt's sleeve. He spun around and grabbed my kids by the hands and started to show them the lady bug. This lady started to tell him off! So, I just took my kids and had them say thank you to Mary and Burt and we went on our way. (sorry about the rant)

By now Mrs Devil needed something in her body (she has a sugar imbalance - not diabetes, but similar i guess) and gpa was getting irritable. No one knows why, but he stated that he needed a diet coke (the devil family lives off coke) and so we veered into Frontierland to find a coke and a pretzel or something. Well the kids got sidetracked by a man named Farley the Fiddler, who played cowboy songs and nursery rhymes too on his fiddle and sat down on a stores front steps to listen.
farley3.jpg

They had a great time with Farley, he was a real treat and signed their books and everything. Mrs Devil found a pretzel and coke but gpa was no where to be found. We located him down the path a few hundred yards at Rancho del Zocalo... he said he needed lunch right then and couldn't wait until we left the park so he bought us all lunch. It was typical of what you might expect at an amusement park or food court but hey it was free lunch!

After lunch we grabbed BTMRR fast passes and broke for an afternoon nap. This was about 1pm.

We returned at 4pm and rode BTMRR and then immediately went to find a spot for the parade of dreams. Mrs Devil found a great spot in the hub near the "friends" statue. Only, we were on the east side of main street facing the sun which after 30+ minutes of waiting became bothersome. But, the parade was fantastic and we were up close and personal with many of the floats and characters to the point where the majority of them either waved, blew kisses, or came over and shook the little devils' hands.

We made the mistake of heading into tomorrowland post parade and attempted to eat at Red Rockets. It seems like everyone else in the park had the same idea and the line for pizza was longer than any ride line we'd encountered that day. After pizza we rode Star Tours one more time (kids couldn't get enough and I convinced them prior to riding that this time it would probably be boring because the pilot probably has it figured out by now.... then as soon as we make that wrong left turn into the restricted area my DD would say... "Nope dad... he's still a crazy driver! Hold on to something!")

We then moved through N.O. square again visiting PotC one more time and the Haunted Mansion before shuffling into Adventureland and visiting the Enchanted Tiki Room.

In these two days we did every ride in the park except Space Mtn. (which DD would not ride and in retrospect DS would have loved but we thought he would be too timid for it) Indy (which neither kid met the height req.) Go Coaster (which was down) and Tarzans treehouse (which was closed) and Casey Jr. (we just skipped). And Pirates Island... which we would have liked to go on but poor planning put us in the area during times the island was closed.

We saw Honey I Shrunk the Audience, Fantasmic, Parade of Dreams, Fireworks (partially). Ate at Blue Bayou, Rancho del Zocalo, Redd Rockets Pizza. And interacted with over a dozen characters.

We left the park on day 2 just before 10pm due to Mrs Devils foot and the fact we had conquered the park!

Awesome trip report!!!

Sorry about your wife's ankle. Did she use the wheelchair on your 2nd day?

I appreciate the feedback on BB -- worth it once. I still am going back and forth on whether we want to attempt this restaurant with our almost 2 yr old. I may make PS's and then just decided at the last minute.

Day 3 - Sat June 30th (California Adventure)

We started day three by hitting Disneyland at 8am. We stopped at the flower garden for some pictures and the mad hatter showed up and signed our kids books. He used their heads as a table and when they giggled told them he thought they did not make very nice tables at all and needed to find a new line of work. He was cute but had a lot of comments/jokes the kids didn't get but left us adults laughing. We then roamed main street shopping and looking and took more pictures in front of the statue.

The kids wanted to conquer the "fastest ride in the west" again so we headed off to BTMRR and waited about 10 minutes in line. From there DS5 really wanted to do Splash Mtn again so we went to Splash. DD refused to go again... (she loved the drop the first time, but absolutely hated the storyline and breir fox, so she refused to ride again - DD loves the stories and ambience of the rides, DS loves the thrills and could care less about the rest). So DD took gma on Winnie the Pooh seeing how gma didn't ride with us the first time. The rest of us went on splash and got soaked... it seems like there is more water in the flume during the early morning hours and as a result you get more wet... the wait was about 15 min.

At this point in time it was after 9am so we quickly stopped off in Fantasyland for one more ride on Dumbo before meandering our way back down main street and out of the park.

At about 9:40 we entered the gates through CA and reviewed our gameplan. Gpa was ticked because he didn't believe me that CA didn't open until 10am and a couple of rides seemed operational (Soarin to be exact). Mrs Devil and Gma took the kids to get in line for Playhouse disney's first show while Gpa and I hustled to get FPs for Soarin and GRR. When we hit GRR they had a rope set up and about 30 people were waiting for rope drop. So we waited along with the crowd. At rope drop (proving I was correct) we grabbed FPs and headed back to meet up with the family.

Mrs Devil and I had a friendly disagreement about going over to ride Monsters Inc first thing... we compromised and agreed that I would go check out the wait times while she held ground as the first person in line at playhouse disney. There was a 20 second wait time according to the cast member so I called Mrs Devils cell and told her to move the whole fam damily over to Monsters Inc. We rode that with a 22 second wait time to be exact and immediately went back to Playhouse Disney. We were maybe 20th in line at most at this time. We waited another 10 minutes or so and they opened the doors. The family sat front and center while I stood in the corner and tried to capture everything on film. I recommend this show if you have small kids, otherwise it is skipable.

After playhouse disney we decided to check out TTwC and were not disappointed. We waited about 5-10 minutes is all. DW and the kids sat down front on the floor. I sat with the gparents about 5-6 rows deep, front and center. It is a must see! Someone had a baby with them that started crying and Crush said "Check it out dude... someone's speaking dolphin." The whole thing was cute. During the q&A portion of the show my DD had her hand raised as high as she could and was never picked. However, Crush seemed to call on a lot of people who didn't even have questions or their hands raised. I would suggest noticeable clothing if you want to interact with Crush. It seemed like a lot of people chosen were wearing bright colored hats and picked by crush for having such... for example he would say to the cast member, Check out the dude with the red dome... or something along the lines of having a octopus stuck to their head if they had the jack sparrow wig on... things of that nature. Anyway, be prepared for your kids to exclusively use the words, righteous, cha', and dude for the remainder of the day.

Next was Soarin. We had about a 5 min wait with our fastpasses. We were all amazed at how realistic and thrilling this was. Mrs Devil and I both dislike heights but this ride didn't bother me much after the initial lift. She actually fell to the ground afterwards and couldn't get herself to stand up. But she said it was the most exhilirating experience she has ever had. The little devils loved it too... They kept leaning over their chairs to try and see things we had passed by. More than anything in the world my family knows I would love to move to SD or Catalina and own a yacht. So when we coasted over the coast and you see a boat powering off into the horizon the kids screamed "Dad, they stole your boat". On a side note, there was no mist during the water segments or orange scents or anything that I had been led to believe was included to enhance the realism. Not that it needed it. Possibly my favorite ride in either park!

From soarin we hit GRR and then it was time for lunch at Ariels Grotto. We had PS and our wait time was short although it was not as swift as it was at Blue Bayou. It took about 15 minutes from our PS reservation to finally get buzzed. We moved down the staircase and were met by Ariel. The CM with her told us they only allowed one photo per group, which was tough because my daughter wanted to take a picture for her mom as well. They did let us take our own pictures with Ariel as long as we promised to be quick but only one official photo from Disney.I was a little dissapointed that Ariel had such little interaction with her guests. From there we were seated and our server was incredible. He was sweating bullets from literally running from table to table with drinks, bread, etc. But it seemed like he was always at our table with refills, waters, etc. We all had something different off the menu and were all impressed with the quality of our food. In fact, both my wife and I felt that the service and food was better than it was at Blue Bayou. We had 4 princesses in attendence: Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Mulan, and Belle. Belle was our tables favorite and spent 10 minutes talking about books with my daughter. She even invited Princess Angelisa to come visit her at Beast's castle and see the library where they could spend all day reading books... the tough part is to now figure out how to let Princess Angelisa down easily. And my DS stopped thinking about Spiderman for an afternoon and crushed hard on Sleeping Beauty. He has a thing for blondes... All in all a 5 out of 5 for Ariels Grotto.

After lunch we decided to head back to Soarin once again. We had grabbed FPs on our exit last time so we planned on using them. We got side tracked by Its tough to be a bug. Which DD did not like... she didn't like Honey I Shrunk at DL either and has some issue with 3D. Anyways, she got cranky and restless and so I exited the theater almost instantly with her and missed out. DW thinks it was the greatest though and the rest of the family enjoyed it. We reached soarin and this time the wait was longer even with FPs. We waited about 15 minutes or so. Again, everyone loved it! Although DD closed her eyes this time at the golf course. Again Mrs Devil had a near panic attack but was still enamored by the experience.

After that we saw Aladdin. This was our favorite show family wide. An excellent production and the genie is amazing. I was worried he was going to try and impersonate Robin Williams too much, which wouldn't have gone over well... but he didn't. He really owned the role and added little one liners in there about current pop culture like myspace, and paris hilton. The show was amazing. We were in line about 30 minutes prior to starting and were lucky enough to get seats that were just in front of the balcony overhang in the orchestra. I recommend getting in line early. Its worth it!

After Aladdin, Mrs Devil and fearless Tylar (DS5) and grandma took on ToT. DD5 would not ride this one and I knew her limits well enough to not push the issue so we waited for them outside. Gpa chickened out altogether and went to find himself another diet coke... Mrs Devil said the CM told her that DS is the youngest kid she's seen take on the ToT. He told me his butt kept lifting off the seat the whole time. He also freaked out his mother by forcing her to open her eyes and showing her that he was going "no hands".

From there we headed to paradise pier. We rode the golden zephyer, jumpin jellyfish, orange stinger, and carrousel, and then somehow let the kids talk us into riding the Sun wheel... not only the sun wheel but the inner gondolas that slide and swing. There is video footage which will be buried and never again seen of DW and DS sitting on one side of the gondola and DD and I sitting on the other side and our gondola starts to slide down the track and swing and both parents freak out and grab at anything to survive while DS rocks back and forth laughing and saying "open your eyes momma, look down dad, look down!" and DD giggles and claps while she proclaims "I'm not scared". Needless to say.. that was the one and only time we will ride the sun wheel. Not cool! Other than the sunwheel though we felt that Paradise Pier (which we realize is modeled after Santa Monica and countless county fairs/amusement parks, etc) was a bit to amusement parky for us. The rides seemed cheap and quick and provided no disney magic or real worthwhile experience... it was a disappointing area to us. We did not get a chance to ride California Screamin because DS was not even close to tall enough and DD wouldn't ride anyway. Maybe next time

We snatched a ride on GRR one more time on our way back towards the front of the park. We then had dogs at the hot dog stand across from Disney Animation Studios and did some shopping right nearby. After which we grabbed prime real estate for the electric lights parade. They still have the old Pete's Dragon float which took me all the way back to being 8 years old and at DL my very first time. It's amazing what memories can get lost in your head and retrieved by a single sight or sound.

After the ELP CA was closing down. We were going to pop back into DLR for the fireworks but decided we were tired and to top it off Gma and Gpa had to drive to Riverside that evening to stay with Gma's brother and sister. And, us Devils had a long drive to Santa Monica/Van Nuys area to make so we caught the fireworks from the bus stop. Our very last ride was the ART bus back to our car.

She did not use the wheelchair. Partially because she felt it would be hard to manuever around the park and also because she does not want to appear helpless or handicapped and felt that it was unfair to people who really needed wheelchairs. Although she would have been better off with it. By the time we left LA for San Diego she felt much better but was still limping a bit.

We saw so many people in the motorized scooters/wheelchairs who didn't need them at all while we were there. It was sickening, and many of them were flat out rude with it. We saw a guy in his late 20's to early 30's get up and out of his rented power scooter and run around the carousel chasing his kids with a camera. He then proceeded to sit back down and scoot on over to the next ride where he stayed in his chair and bypassed the line.

And at Fantasmic there was a large lady in a powerscooter that drove right down to the rail infront of everyone who had been waiting for over an hour and nearly hit two small kids. The CMs had to ask her to move her chair to the back of the section and she gave them attitude about needing it and being discriminated against... she then parked the chair and walked over to a open spot and sat down... it was disappointing how some people can take advantage of other peoples situations.

What did you all order while at Ariel's?

My Dad had the Meatloaf... he loved it.
My Wife had the penne pasta and shared with my mother... liked it and she is a picky eater.
I had the burger - it was on par with fuddruckers, red robin, or any gourmet burger joint. I like it a lot.
My Mom ordered the surf n salmon blt and shared it with my wife and they both enjoyed it.

Kids both had the octadog and cheese... it was cheap but they were way too caught up in everything to bother eating anyways.

For dessert everyone had chocolate cake except me and the kids... we had parfaits (because even though its dreamworks and not disney... donkey doesn't lie when he says "everyone loves a parfait...") But we all had a bite of the cake... rich and delicious.

Great trip report, we were there the same time as you! And I don't like those swinging cars on the Sun Wheel either.;)

Great trip report! Glad you had a good time.

Reading trip reports makes me anxious for my upcoming Sept. trip!

"fam damily" :rotfl: Man, can i relate.

(i'm the nut barking to my family.."no, no....Dumbo is AFTER PP....get over here now!)

I agree with you on Soarin'....just an amazing ride. My kid and I rode it 4 times in 2 1/2 days.

I wish ol' Mary Poppins would have reprimanded ms. pushylady....like only SHE can. & Good thing devilwife had a firm grip sundevil's wrist. (were there marks left?) :rotfl2:

Also agree with you on Aladdin. To me, it's a $20 per head type quality show (granted just 45 min.) & not to be missed.

How'd you like the "dark" FL rides (Alice, Toad, Pinocchio & Snowy, PP)...I find that older, opinionated, attention to detail (anal :) types (like me) tend to like them. :lmao:

Great Report Devil Daddy. :thumbsup2

:)

Great trip report!! Your kids are like mine: ds6 likes the fast rides, and dd8 is the ride wimp. And I noticed your whole family went on GRR. Your dd wasn't afraid of it? Wow! Here's hoping I can get my dd on it.

Another question: were there babies/toddlers at the Aladdin show? The last time I was there, I remember everyone being rather quiet throughout the whole performance. I'm not sure the baby can keep quiet that long.

I'll have to write up a trip report when we get back from our trip. :)

No no, there were no marks... Mrs Devil did have a hold of me like she holds our rottweiler (like she was preparing to turn me loose) but alas she never let go.

I think everyone in our family liked the dark rides. Of course, some more than others. I think Peter Pan was a real hit with my wife, and Mr. Toad is always one of my favorites. But everyone seemed to enjoy... on Alice I shimmied my way over the lap bar and sat backwards in the front seat so I could videotape the kids in the rear seat... their eyes tell it all, a thumbs up from the whole family.

My DD was surprisingly rather brave this trip. I made her a deal before we even set foot in the park so that we would both know what the expectations were. She agreed (without being forced) to ride every ride I thought she was brave enough for at least once. If she didn't like it after the first time I would not force her to ride again, regardless of the ride... That seemed to help her out because
A. She figured I wouldn't put her into a situation she couldn't handle, and
B. It prevented all those last minute "I changed my mind, I dont like this ride" moments.

She was apprehensive about riding GRR but went anyway the first time. That's when she banged her head against the back of her seat pretty hard and she told me upon exiting the ride that she didn't like GRR and wouldn't ride again. The rest of the family wanted to ride again in a few hours and we were headed for the fastpass machine (which both kids understood the concept of quickly) and she started to wimp out... but we talked and discovered that she didn't like GRR because she "bonked" her head and decided that if Dad protected her head the second time around she'd give it one more shot. It's not a real intimidating ride and neither kid had a problem riding it the second time. I think your DD should be fine, just let her take a look at some sections of it prior to riding so she knows what she's getting into.

At Aladdin I can't recall how many babies or toddlers there were... but I'm sure there were some. My kids can't sit still or keep quiet for more than 10 minutes though and they both made it through the show without disturbing anyone. Snacks help! We gave them things to chomp on which kept their mouths full too. My advice would be to go to Aladdin regardless... if you decide the littlest ones can't handle it you can always excuse yourself and exit the theater. But I can't see myself telling anyone to pass on Aladdin.

Make sure to write a trip report when you get back!

Just wanted to say I loved your TR! Sounds like everyone had a great time (sprained ankle aside, of course.)

Loved your Ariel's dining experince; this is something I am unlikely to experience with my two boys (and believe me, I've tried to convince DS6!) :rotfl:

And how strange that you didn't experience the "smell-o-vision" on Soarin'! I swear, it really exists!

And I swear I can picture you on the swinging gondola on the ferris wheel! I myself was smart enough (bok- bok-bok!) to avoid that one. :lmao:

Thanks for allowing us to experinve it, too. :thumbsup2
