The Dells

Don't second guess! The Dells is a fun family vacation! It can be a bit cheesy with its touristy shopping but lots and lots of fun things to do....read the above posts thoroughly! Also Devils Lake is a beautiful park. It will be very crowded during the summer but keep your reservation....you'll love the park for camping. We always do the Dells in the winter and stay onsite at The Wilderness. You can make a vacation just out of that place alone!! So I'm not a summer expert..... Have a great vacation!

Another Wisconsinite here! Wisconsin is absolutely wonderful in the summertime! Devil's Lake is an attraction to be savored. You can hike and swim and kayak/canoe/sail in the lake (no motorized vessels). Scuba diving/snorkeling and fishing are also great here.

If you're a baseball fan, beautiful Miller Park home of the Milwaukee Brewers is about 2.5 hrs away. The Brewers play rain/shine as there is a retractable roof. Also the Milwaukee County Zoo is fun place to spend the morning and is just a couple miles from Miller Park. You could easily do the zoo in the morning and catch a ballgame in the afternoon and drive back to the campground in the evening. Or...you can also "camp" (no trees-just parking lot) at Wisconsin State Fair park if you wanted to stay overnight and do more things in Milwaukee such as the Milwaukee Public Museum or the Harley Davidson Museum.

Another Wisconsin Dairy Farm Girl here, and an avid Disney Fort Wilderness Fan and absolutely love all our State has to offer you. Try Door County, just north of Green Bay. Tour Lambeau Field. A wonderful County Park called Bayshore County Park, W & E, right on the bay. beautiful, wooded, and a great price away from the crowds. Go bike riding up in the Door. The Dells is a fun place, and you have received lots of great info. Take a tour of a Cheese Factory, taste our wonderful cheese, smell our "dairy aire" and enjoy our slice of heaven.

I loved Fort Wilderness, too. I really wish we could go back at Halloween or Christmas. Unfortunately, it is a bit too far for a short trip! If only Disneyland would create a campground...

If you like to hike, go to Parfrey's Glen. It is beautiful, wear comfy waterproof shoes as you have to cross shallow water. It is very close to Devil's Lake.

If you like beer and are anywhere near Chippewa Falls, stop by the Leinenkugel brewery. The tours are free and adults will get tickets to sample the beer in the Leinie Lodge and the kids will get tickets for pop (Coke products). Leinie Lodge is a nice log cabin gift shop.
