Thanks for the insight. The CM recommended banking them, since I needed to do it by Jan. 31 anyway, and then if I decide I want to use anything else this year, I could just borrow from 2006? Is that correct?

Yes, the package and everything came 2 nights ago, but I have not been able to read through it all yet. Saving it for the weekend. But I wanted to get my ressies made. I didn't know I was going to have to make all these decisions when I called.

I didn't realize you had to bank by Jan 31- and for a first timer... I DEFINETLY WOULD'VE DONE THAT TOO!!! You were smart to follow the suggetion of the CM! And yes- what she told you was right. You can borrow from 2006. And then use your banked points the following year. Basically all you've done is reverse the order of using your points. Just remember to use all those banked points in that use year or you'll lose what you don't use. It can be so scarey and exciting all at the same time because you don't want to waste those PRECIOUS points!

Honestly, I'm not worried any points will go to waste. If you're anything like all the other DVC owners- you use all those points and be in borrowing mode in no time..... and then you'll hvae to buy an add on! I think we're just about there for the add on!

Isn't is fun just picking up that phone and making that ressie?!?!? WOOHOOOO!

Happy reading this weekend!!!

Yes, women can be knighted. They are called "Dames." Very cool, I think!

OK - so we now have:

Queen Kate
Dame Tammi (Duke & Dutchess)
Sheriff Skunka

Any other titles to keep track of? I think I am going to set up an Excel Spreadsheet with everyone's screen name, real name, where they live, etc. Sometimes I get so confused. My old brain seems to be filling up very quickly. I need to dump some of that useless information from my youth (trig is one big example), so there is room for new stuff.

MAC- good luck with the new medication for Mya. I was glad to hear that she doesn't suffer any pain from this.

DEB-Sorry to hear you can't access the DIS from your laptop. I know how excited you were to be able to "borrow" high speed access from your brother.

TERRY-A very touching story. This week was the 3rd anniversary of my father's death and sometimes it being so close to Christmas makes it hard for everyone. I appreciate the reminder to appreciate our loved ones while they are here. Your BIL sounds like he was an amazing person.

LYNN-I must be very lucky with the bus situation. My kids get on within 5 minutes of each other. DD6 rides the K-5 bus and gets picked up at 7:24, DS11 rides the 6-12 bus and gets picked up at about 7:20. We also have one more chance if we miss the first. We live in a small district and all the schools are fairly close so they all dismiss within about 20 minutes also. I know what you are saying about being at work. I spend a little too much time looking in also. It helps for me to close the browser too. I'll check back at lunch.

PAUL-I like the new signature. It befits your title.

BETH-LOL - Never heard the Hitler is a Jerk line (I do know the entire Batman song though). I'll chime in next:
When there's too much to do
Don't let it bother you, forget your troubles,
Try to be just like a cheerful chick-a-dee

GLYNIS-Thanks for the recipe. Did I miss some info? How did things go at the Dr. yesterday? I bet he was impressed with your weight loss to date. Are you on for the 1/2 marathon? Have fun bowling. I used to be on a league. I spent a lot of time trying to figure out why I was paying to humiliate myself in public. My goal was 3 games over 100 in 1 night.

TAMMI-Gosh Tammi, you could transfer any extra un-used points into my account :p . Are you planning a big trip for next year? You don't want to lose them (they should be good until July 31, 2007). One other thought would be to use a 1 bedroom instead of a studio. I really like having the washer/dryer right there in the room. We take less clothes and I don't come home with a suitcase full of dirty stuff either. Plus, we like to eat breakfast in the room. (Plus 2 TVs, you don't have to watch The Disney Channel all week.) Just a couple of thoughts.

I'd "sing" the rest of the Hitler is a jerk for you, but I'm not sure it's appropriate. Of course, we did sing it in elementary school. :rotfl: My guess is that we had no idea what we were singing.

Beverly-it does get confusing on everyone--i just try to keep everyones info straight--but then i get all confused!!

I have one started on paper. As I was reading the monster thread, I was getting confused on who everyone was. So many names, so much to read, so little time. :hourglass Vicki

I made my DVC ressies! Yay for me! Oct. 18-22 at SSR in a studio. I will call back on March 19 and start making ressies for BWV or BCV, if they have room. Or should I just wait until the March 22 when I can make ressies in their entirety.

This DVC stuff is confusing. I'm sure I had the CM aggravated when I couldn't decide to use my pts for this yr, which need to be banked by Jan. 31. We got a use yr of August. So, I had her bank my 200 pts. Then in Aug. we will get another 200 pts. This trip will cost 64 pts. Then I will have 336 pts. left. Did I do the right thing?

Seems like I have a lot of pts. I need to plan another trip on top of this one. Who wants to go somewhere?

I would make the ressie at SSR for the whole time you are planning on being there and then later on (March 22) switch the ressie to the other resorts. We have done this afew times to take advantage of the 11 mos window and to avoid getting left out in the cold in case the dates at the second resort are not available we can still stay at our home resort.

Tammi, while I agree with Paul that having a back up at your home resort is very important, I might agree that you do the day-by-day reservations starting March 20 (19th is a Sunday) through the 23rd. The reason I suggest that is that October is Food and Wine Festival at Epcot and from what I hear, both BCV and BWV fill up quite quickly. I wouldn't want to take any chances with those reservations if that is where you really want to stay.

I am the Dame! ;)

Yes, we are planning a big trip in April 07 for Alyssa's bday, and will prob take my mom/dad with us, so hopefully we will still have enough points for a 2br. I am hesitant on the 1 br because I have heard once you start that, you never go back to the studio!!

Before I forget, have a wonderful trip, Jen! :sunny:

Paul and Beverly - that is what I did, made my ressie at my home resort (SSR) and at my 7th month window, will start calling another to do a day-by-day ressie. I would like to stay near the boardwalk if I can, but I won't be upset if I can't get it. I'll just have to save it for next time! Thanks for your input.

I can't say for sure because we started with a 2BR :rotfl: , (had 6-7 ppl.) but one of the main reasons we bought DVC was because we don't prefer a "regular" hotel room for the 4 of us (YMMV), let alone trying to deal with a sofa bed, so we always planned to use at least a 1BR. I think it's great that you can use a studio because that saves more points for the next big trip! I am sure no matter what you do, you will have a ball!

Paul - no offense regarding the reservation options, just my thoughts.

Things may change as our kids get older, but while they are still little, we can make due with a studio.........I think.
