Good Morning DDA

My DS, Austin, leaves for youth choir tour on Sunday. I wanted to post the stops they will make next week just in case it is close to anyone.

Sunday, June 4th
1st Baptist Church in Springdale, AL

Monday, June 5th
Bethany Baptist Church in Whynot, MS

Tuesday, June 6th
Edgewater Baptist Church in New Orleans, LA

Wednesday, June 7th
Memphis Baptist Church in Dothan, AL

Thursday they are staying the day and night at Edgewater Beach Resort in Panama City and then heading back home on Friday. This will be the 1st time Austin has been away from home for that amount of time without at least a family member. He is really excited about it but I am just a bit worried but I know he will be fine.

Let me know if anyone lives around any of those churches and will be able to see the musical/play.

Lynn

Oh, what fun! I always loved trips like that with performances. He's not coming near us, but tell him that we hope he has a fantastic experience! :goodvibes

Yes it is our first! I am excited, for the most part. I have to get through my test tomorrow, then I'll be moderately excited. We also have some stuff to take care of around here for moving, jobs, etc before we go that has me a little more stressed.... so it might take a bit longer to get REALLY excited for this one. But I'm pretty sure by Saturday afternoon when we're on our way, I'll be ecstatic!

I hope all went well with your tests.

Have a great trip!!!:woohoo: :beach:

OMG!! You are not going to believe this! Here's a story of how small our world is!!!!

After TeresaJoy posted about seeing Kate, I sent her a pm when I saw that she was from Michigan. I told her I was from the U.P. and asked where she was from. She sent a nice note back saying where she lived, that her husband had attended Michigan Tech in the UP and where did I live in the UP. I sent another one saying that Chuck & I had met at Michigan Tech and the years that we were there. She sent another note saying that her husband was there at the same time. What a small world, she says! She went on to say that he used to hang out with Bob & Liz x, Dave y, Chuck & Vicki z. Imagine my surprise when I opened the pm and saw my name in the middle of her post. I couldn't read it fast enough.

This is our long lost buddy & his wife. We attended their wedding. I just asked Bob a couple of months ago if he had their address because I wanted to start sending Christmas cards again and their last one came back. He didn't have it. I just got off the phone with him and he is excited that I've found them too.

Bob & Liz were our neighbors in married student housing when we first got married. Dave, Bob & her DH were best buddies. Chuck was a grad student and worked a lot of evenings & Liz was a nurse that worked nights. I can't tell you how much time we all spent together over those first two years of my marriage. We hung out all the time. After we moved to Holland MI, they all met there to hang out one year. We got together for their wedding and Dave's wedding. These were very close friends. I'm so excited to have made contact with them again. I can't believe I did it through the DDA.

Can you tell I'm like this right now????!!!!!! :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

OMG!! It is so nice to see your family! When can you come to the UP? Dave & Bob were just talking about you two weeks ago. Dave says he hasn't heard from Brian in a while either. We all need to get together again!!!!!!!! I still can't believe this!

I am in TOTAL shock! Brian and I have been wondering what happened to Chuck and Vicki! I was so excited at getting Vicki's PM I unplugged my laptop, and ran it outside to show my husband! He couldn't believe it either!!!! I am SOOOO EXCITED!!! Partly, to find out that Chuck and Vicki are Disney nuts too!!!

Let's all sing, "It's a small world after all, ....."

Please pray for Phil right now. I don't know what is going on as I'm at work, but he sounds like he is on the verge of a total breakdown. It is being caused in part because some combination of the high calcium and Vitamin D they had him taking has been keeping him so drowsy for over a week that he can barely function. Now he seems to have come to the end of his rope over these feelings. Luckily, he is of good enough mind that he has made an appointment for this afternoon with a psychologist. For now, I just need him to get himself and Terra into the city and to me safely. He won't be driving so there isn't a danger there, but they can get to me faster than I can get to them and I think time is of the essence as too relieve as much stress as possible as soon as possible. He has asked me to go to the doctor with him so hopefully I can help convey what has been going on lately if he can't. Thank you for any prayers and pixie dust you can spare as this is all a little scary.

Tia, I just said a prayer for your family right now (although I didn't see when you posted this). I'm so glad he is willing to talk to someone right away.... that's such a tremendous step and help in situations like this. I'll continue praying for answers, and for peace for all of you! I know we've talked in the past about my family history/involvment with anxiety disorders.... so I understand how trying this can be for everyone! Feel free to PM if you need anything! :grouphug:

Glynis I hope you have a fabulous time at DL. DOn't stress over the food, if you drink water and walk a lot you will be fine. I ate lots of junk (even ice cream) last Sept and I lost 3 lbs due to walking and water.

You just enjoy every minute of it!!!!! (take more notes for the PDZ, we might have missed something for adults).

Ok, DDAs -- I'm off to bed soon, but if I could request a few prayers that would be great! My test could use a few, but that's really less concerning than all the other stuff I have to get done before bedtime tomorrow. We have some things to take care of before we leave, but some involved parties aren't really cooperating enough to allow me to set sail stress free. :guilty:

I'm sorry I can't provide more details, but God knows what's up.... and maybe Tinkerbell does too? :confused3

Nothing is wrong with any of us.... in fact, there is nothing but good stuff going on in our lives (well, after about noon tomorrow
wink.gif
) -- there are just a few things that have to fall into place before we leave and are unable to be contacted without $7.00/minute phone calls!

I plan on checking in tomorrow and/or Saturday, but if not then I'll talk to you soon!

in the event you are still in need of PD and Prayers.... here you go...

Well I am off to bed...Dh's flight out of OH was delayed due to thunderstorms which have now made their way to NY..loud thunder, heavy rain, & lightening here now. Hopefully he will be on his plane soon & home safely. Talk to you all tom'w.

I hope all went well and he made it home.

Hey everyone! Thanks to my FANTASTIC husband, I had a few minutes to catch up!!

The NCLEX is done at least  I'm pretty torn on it. I mean, I think I passed for one (fairly safe assumption) reason. It cut off at 75 questions. You can most certainly fail in 75 questions, but I'm told it gives you the beneft it of the doubt and lets you keep testing until you REALLY prove you're incompetent if tha'ts the case. Most people that stop at 75 pass. However..... the questions sucked. You know when you get something narrowed down to two choices and guess? Well that was like 70 of the 75 questions :rotfl: It didn't take an hour even though, so that was nice. I'll let you all know when I find out (in the next few days).

As far as the other thing going on, DDA prayers are reigning it in a bit anyway. Continued thoughts would be greatly appreciated, but I feel confident enough to at least tell you what's up, with one thing happening already this morning!

In mid-May ..... we bought a house!!! I didn't mention it here because of all the bumps we hit along the way with the mortgage. I was terrified something else was going to go wrong, so I didn't really want to focus on it much (anymore than I already was IRL). Even until today, we hadn't got a straight answer on our closing information. Pretty much, people are stupid. When we set a closing target date (June 9th), it was suggested by the people involved, knowing darn well about our trip. Now all of a sudden they are freaking out that we won't be accessible up until the day before.... so I'm a little nervous.

We did finally hear this morning that we have an appointment set up for the 9th at 10:00am. My mortgage guy was working his butt off to have everthing finalized a week early (today) so that he would not have to contact us at all during the cruise (and make us spend even more money and time trying to communicate via email). We're still waiting on his call, but I know he's doing his best. And the financing was preapproved, so there shouldn't be any problems... but it will be nice to know it's 100% completed and awaiting our return.

So I'm supposed to have my entire house packed, plus the cruise stuff (and hope they don't get mixed up), plus take this test this morning, take my sister's homeschool team to their Olympic day (which thankfully got rained out and rescheduled  ) so I was pretty much pulling my hair out yesterday.

But while I was gone, Kyle got up early and packed virtually EVERYTHING here for the house!!!!!!!!!!!!! He's great :teeth: So I have a few errands to run, and need to double check the cruise stuff, but then I should be all set.

So if you want to continue praying, just pray that we have no surprises waiting for us when we come back. It's still a little scary knowing that we come back less than 12 hours when we're supposed to meet, and who knows what could happen before then!!!! We're pretty thrilled about the house though.

So that's that. I'll check in again either later tonight or tomorrow morning before we leave. Talk to you then!

Kate -- did you get my PM? Call me please about the ears, if you have a second! :goodvibes

bicycle sorry!!
he will be doing either 10 or 25 miles..

My brother loves bicycling. He does long trips like from Tampa to Orlando and back in the same day. They are moving to Denver, CO over the summer and I was telling him the difference in the altitude. It will take him a while to get used to it. Enjoy your biking trip.

Hello my DDA friends. I have not been on in a few weeks. I have still not got my house straightened out. How can anyone have so much stuff? I am organizing a neighborhood yard sale and it will be June 26 so I will be getting rid of some of this stuff/junk. Whenever I get my office put together I will post pics.

I got my Castle picture back and it is awsome. My husband who is not crazy about disney even said it looked classy.

Nice to see you, have a good yard sale!!

WTG, Jen! If it cut off at 75 and you took about an hour, then you PASSED!!!!!!!!! That's exactly what it did for me. I was a nervous wreck afterwards, but everyone assured me in this scenario you are good to go!

And congrats on the house! Isn't Kyle a sweetie to pack it all up? Go and enjoy your cruise, relax, have fun!!!!!!!!! Then when you get home move into your new home and start a magical new chapter in your life.

I'm sending you giant hugs and loads of Pixie Dust. I'm so happy for you!!!

Vicki, Here is what I found

The travel initiative requirements will be rolled out in phases. The proposed implementation timeline is as follows:

*
December 31, 2006 – Passport required for all air and sea travel to or from Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Bermuda.
* December 31, 2007 – Passport required for all land border crossings, as well as air and sea travel.

Current Requirements for Entry Into Canada

Visas are not required for U.S. citizens entering Canada from the U.S. You will, however, need:

1.
Proof of your U.S. citizenship such as your U.S. passport (For information on obtaining a U.S. passport, check with one of the regional passport agencies located throughout the U.S.) or certified copy of your birth certificate issued by the city, county or state in the U.S. where you were born. If you are a naturalized U.S. citizen and do not have a passport, you should travel with your naturalization certificate. A driver’s license, voter’s registration card or Social Security card is NOT valid proof of citizenship.
2.
Photo identification, such as a current, valid driver’s license.

We live a few hours from the canadian border too. My understanding is that the date for passports has been moved to 2009. It had to do with businesses that cross the lines. I'm not 100% sure though.

I had my knee surgery today and it was a breeze. We have a new surgery center and they had me in and out in less than 21/2 hours. At the hospital two years ago when I had this same surgery it took almost 5 hours to get in and out.

They also used some differnt kind of anesthesia and i felt great and very alert when I awoke from surgery. I was very impress.

I will be on crutches until Sunday afternoon adn then will be able to walk normal.

I had a torn meniscus and that part was removed. Everthing went great. I am on pain med as I am typing this so if I sound strange please excuse me. LOL

Delinda

Good to hear things went well w/ the knee surgery
