We had to take our cat Charlie to the vet this week... on Sunday morning he peed on our floor length curtains and I had a fit! Then later on he peed on a pair of socks that I'd dropped after doing laundry... I thought he was being naughty... Then on Tuesday night he just wondered round the room crying and squatting down on anything on the floor... like the newspaper, or some papers I bought home from work... we had to keep grabbing him and running him up to the litter tray... poor thing. We took him to the vets on Wed am and he has cystitus (sp) apparently it's common in male cats after something stressful happens (probably the arrival of our new sofas!!) So he's on meds and is back to his old self! Apparently once he gets it once it's likely to recur, and we have to watch him because if he ever can't pee it's life threatening and we have to take him to the vets immediately even if its the middle of the night!!!

Phew! Tuesday was a stressful evening and made me think of how on earth you all manage with sick kiddos!
:wizard: for Charlie. At least he did pee on your new sofas!

Where have you been, Clare? I've missed your English-isms.

Kepp looking you just may find them. Sending some pixiedust: pixiedust:

Kind of.... except I don't WANT any more this size!! :rotfl: Not to mention the fact that I'll have to be more selective, which equals more money (I'm assuming). I'd rather spend the money on something fun DURING the trip!

Alyssa got up smiling this morning so I guess she is doing ok. But she sure looks silly with that steri-strip in the middle of her forehead. Good thing she is only 4 because I would be self-conscious walking around like that. :rotfl: They are sitting and doing a US puzzle, so life is back to normal. Especially if the arguing starts in about 5 minutes. :teeth:

We don't have any drive-ins around here any more.

We have one near the university I went to... it's about 45 minutes from here. I never made it to see movies there, but it always shows 2 first-run movies plus some cartoon short (from.... who knows where, never anything I've heard of!)

Unfortunately, it's getting sold :guilty: My guess is the person that buys it won't be keeping it a drive-in. We used to have several, but they're all disappearing. I'm guessing it can't be too profitable! Ours is only $7.00 for 2 new release films!!!!!! That's a matinee price for 1 at a theater!

Our cat Riley suffers from that. He has had it for 8 or 9 years now. He was actually almost completely blocked the first time and the vet had to do a procedure to unblock him before the meds were started. We have to feed him special food for cats with urinary issues. We used to buy it through the Vet ($$), but Friskies has a line in our Grocery stores called Special Diet that has worked well for us. They make both dry and canned food. I have noticed that he will now have the same symptoms when he gets stressed, but the Vet says that he is not blocked and won't put him on meds for it. It can be something a simple as taking out a suitcase and he will start peeing in all the closets. I usually notice the smell in each room then he will pee on something white and it is off the the vet for us. I wish you good luck with it. It certainly isn't fun.

Poor Alyssa. I get home from work tonight and Nicholas comes running out into the garage, before I even get out of the car, telling me he hit Alyssa in the head with the door but it was an accident. I get in the house and she is laying on the couch with and ice bag on her forehead and dried blood on her shirt and pants. She looked so sad and pathetic. My first question is 'does she need stitches'--she's already had them once. No. John and Nicholas explain to me that she was chasing Nicholas into his bedroom and he goes to shut the door, with the edge of it cutting her in the forehead. So she has about a 1/2 inch gash. Our neighbors, husband and wife, both nurses, come over to check her out. He works the skin back into place to form a nice line and gives us some saline and patches her up with those steri-strips that hold the skin together. They give us a supply for about a week and say she will prob not have a scar (I hope not!). So I've pumped her up with Motrin and just put her to bed. I hope she has a good night. Poor Nicholas feels so bad.

Oh, poor kids! I hope that Alyssa is feeling better this morning and that Nicholas isn't feeling as bad about it. :grouphug: and :wizard: for them both.

Clare HMO's or Health Maintenance Organizations are a form of insurance often referred to as managed care. You must go to certain doctor's in their network and your primary physician must refer you out to other network doctors for any specialty services. Basically they tell you who you can see an if they don't pre approve it they won't pay at all. It isn't a good thing by any means.

Well, that and the fact that Kate and Denise aren't around..... :rolleyes1 ;) :teeth:

Did I mention that we had a Wedding at the restaurant last night? It was the weirdest wedding ever. They were in their late 40's I'd guess. The bride wore a teal colored dress, nothing too fancy. The groom wore black jeans and a Harley Davidson T-shirt. The stood in front of our fireplace and said their vows to a Justice of Peace. They had about 30 guests. We do not have a room that we use for Private functions so there were other people dining in there too. :rotfl2: We all thought that it was a very strange place to be married. We often have part of the room used for groom's dinners, but a Wedding is a first. Oh well to each his own right :confused3

Did I miss that Kate is away this weekend? I remember Denise posting that her Parents are visiting, but I don't recall Kate alerting us that she wouldn't be around? Do we need to hunt her down?

Have any of you seen Over the Hedge yet?

We promised the girls to go to the drive in to watch it tonight and the line to get in was 6 blocks long!! :sad2:

So we told them and our little friend that we would take them tomorrow night and get there earlier!! :teeth:

I just wondered if anyone else had seen it yet!

Let me know what you think. I really want to watch that one. It looks great.

I'm not sure what we are doing today as it is just me and the boys. Chris is fixing the air conditioning on my car and changing my tires. I've already had this car for two summers and he is just getting around to fixing the air conditioning :confused3 . Then he is off to Boston for the Red Sox game. I have to be at work at 4 PM so we might head to the stores in search of something to create Mardi Gras costumes with. I also need to get some containers to plant a few flowers in for my front yard. At least it looks like it will be a nice day. Actually the whole weekend looks nice.

Nope, she didn't go anywhere. At least not that I know of. I think she just meant that she wasn't around on the thread.

I think she is around. She hasn't been posting much for several weeks. I start to think we need to hunt her down and then she pops in for a quick post. I always hate to send her a pm because it gets so full of design requests that I don't want to add to it!

With those awesome costumes that she creates, she would have to!! She must spend hours on each one!!! I always enjoy seeing the pictures of them.
