Does anyone know when the Disney Store starts selling Halloween costumes? I want a Jack Sparrow costume for DS7 (DS10 had this costume last year so he is set) for pirate night on our cruise, and I can't find one that I like. They don't have last year's model in the right size, and I didn't see it on e-bay.

Thanks!

Has anyone else received email from Disney after entering the sweepstakes? I got and email today, it was just more advertising, telling me to add them to my contacts so I don't miss anything from them.

I got the same email.

Whew! At first I thought it was "you hacked our site, bad bad woman" Buut it was just a movie.... :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

Hello! :wave2:

I've been trying to keep up these past couple days, and I want to thank June for looking out for me.

Glynis, having been to DL twice, I'm really enjoying your trip report, because I "know" everything you're making reference to! Can't wait to see the pictures too!

Paula and Denise, your kiddos are so darn cute! :goodvibes

I've never been on a cruise, so I'm no help on that topic!

Marci, thanks for the update on your DH...Jennifer, hope all went well at the doctor today...Kate, glad to know you have a "fix" for your knee(s) lined up!

Jennifer (Tink2020), welcome home. Can't wait to see your cruise pics and I hope all went well at your meeting today!

Happy belated anniversaries to Terry and Vicki

Thanks for all the Cars reviews...still debating on whether or not to take Alyssa, since it's almost 2 hours long.

Please tell me I'm not forgetting any other major events/news!!!

Amy :)

Thinking about booking a Disney Cruise for next summer. This will be our first cruise ever. I've been trying to read and find out info, but I could use some help. I posted this on the Cruise Line forum also.

  • I think it would make sense to get Adjoining rooms in a lower category vs a Family Suite so we'd have 2 bathrooms. Which category would you suggest?
  • Any advantage of going in June vs July? The kids birthday is at the end of June. Would it be fun to go for their birthday?
  • Will there be Double Dip cruises again next summer? Where can I see itinerary plans?
  • I'm leaning towards the Eastern route. Pros/cons for a first time cruise?
Any other information would be greatly appreciated. I am so nervous about booking a cruise, but I think it would be great fun.

Denise,

you will LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the cruise.....  I think going for their birthday would be cool. :3dglasses :3dglasses :3dglasses

I had to rethink the princess border in Alyssa's new room, because I realized her carpet is light blue!

So, this is what I bought tonight on Ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOIBSAA:US:11&Item=4468811943

I've also bought some Tinkerbell and Princess wall stickers at Home Depot, so most of the Disney females will be represented!

I do have to pick a paint color though...light blue carpet and this colorful border...what do you think?

Thanks!
Amy :)

Ok, I promised you all a trip report, so here goes:

Saturday June 3rd:

Today was packing day! I had to get all 4 kids ready to go to my sister's tonight. Since we are leaving so early tomorrow morning, she asked me to bring them over tonight. So, I spent the morning doing laundry and packing and getting them ready to go. Katie and Jacob were excited at the prospect of staying with their cousins, but Mary and Leslie were a little nervous! Frankly, I was too. I know they will be fine, but it's hard to leave your babies!

By late afternoon, I had packed for all 4 kids and myself. I had also made a run to Salt Lake City for a quick appointment with the eye doctor and to order and pick up 2 new pairs of glasses. My old ones broke yesterday, and there's no way I am going to Disneyland with cracked glasses. I really like the new glasses. I guess that I really needed them as my prescription had changed quite a lot. It made for a big headache as I tried to get used to them, but it was worth it.

At 7:00 I took the kids to my sister's house and prepared for the tears and wailing. No such luck! The kids blew me kisses and headed for the trampoline. So much for a traumatic good bye! Back at home, Alan was frantically trying to finish up a freelance job, so I ended up packing most of his clothes as well. It was a long night for Alan and I felt really badly for him. I got to bed by midnight, but Alan didn't drag himself to bed until nearly 2:30.

Unfortunately for him, the alarm went off at 3:30 as he had to drive to SLC to pick up the rental car. We got a really good deal! $139 for the week! Between us and the Bradfield's (the other couple we're travelling with) it was a fantastic deal! I stayed home while Alan went to get the car. I had planned to make a big breakfast for us and the Bradfield's. By the time they all arrived at the house at 6:30 I had Toffee Apple French Toast, Strawberry Breadsticks, scrambled eggs, and sausage on the table. We ate, and visited but were too excited to eat a lot. By 7:15 we were on the road.

We made a couple of stops along the way and ended up in Las Vegas by about 1:00. We had lunch at Memphis Championship Barbecue (fabulous place, by the way!), and then were on our way. It was so hot in Vegas that we were happy to get away. By now, we were all starting to droop, so lot's of caffeine and music were in order. It really wasn't a bad trip, though. We enjoy each others company and had a lot to catch up on.

We arrived in Anaheim by 6:30 and checked into the Anaheim Plaza hotel. This hotel is one block away from the entrance to Disneyland, so it was perfect for us! We got checked into our rooms and then decided what to do. We were hungry, so we stopped in at IHOP to eat and discuss our options. I had yummy broccoli soup and a salad (I'm trying to be good here). We decided to walk to Downtown Disney and see the DaVinci Code. After we ate, we leisurely walked to DD. It's a pleasant walk, in between the 2 parks, and it was a gorgeous night! While we were in DD I stopped in at the Build a Bear Workshop to pick up a set of Mickey ears for Heidi. It was crowded, but not bad at all. However, I was glad that I didn't have to stand in line to make an animal. I found the outfit (there was only one left, and another woman wanted it, too. Luckily, I got there first, and had my big strong hubby to glare at her as she reached out for it), paid for it, and we headed to the theater.

By this time, I was drooping really badly! We sat in the theater, and I fell asleep during the previews. It was all downhill from there. I dozed on and off through the whole movie. I was the only one, though, since I couldn't have any diet coke on the trip. I guess I'll have to see the movie again when it comes to our local dollar theater. Alan and the Bradfield's liked the movie, but agreed that the book was better. We walked back to the hotel with plans to meet in the lobby at 8:00 to head over to Disneyland.

Well, that's our first day. I'll get more later, but now I have to start packing for our camping trip!

Glynis, what a fun time you all had! Thanks for sharing. Enjoy camp. See you when you get back!

Hi everyone..quick post here!!

Kate, hope your surgery goes well. I like your analogy of Nick's room changing like in TS. I have seen this happen here too..kinda sad.

Denise, glad to hear Rees is doing great! I can't be of too much help on your cruise questions..I was looking into doing this as well a few months ago & I was convinced that the 2 cat 9 or 10 rooms would be better than a cat 4 family suite. More space, 2 bathrooms, & less cost.

Glynis, welcome back..looking foward to hearing more about your trip.

Beth, I think you did the right thing..the guy sounds like a jerk.

Tammi, hey I didn't get an email from Disney!!!

Busy weekend ahead...all the kids have separate birthday parties to attend, Daniel has a baseball signing thing at our local sport shop. Free autographs & free ice cream for all the boys in little league, so we can't pass that one up!
BBQ on Sunday at a friends....I still have to put the winter clothes in my attic & there is so much to do around the house...Poor DH got poison ivy from gardening in the yard. We cannot locate the stuff so I am nervous letting the kids out there til we find it.

I was hoping summer would be slower than the school year but it looks to be pretty hectic as well. Just signed Katie up for volleyball & basketball camp - she really wanted to go & she likes both sports. Daniel is going to baseball camp run by the Mets so that should be cool for him. We are planning a few overnight trips (Cooperstown - anyone have any suggestions on this? never been) Hershey or Lake Compounce & maybe a run up to Newport..love love love it there..anyway then the kids have vacation bible school in mid August & then we are off to Disney in late August..then they go back to school!! Whew...

Hope everyone is well..have a great weekend! :wave2:

Have a great weekend Anne Marie!

Need some advice -- my DS Andrew went to football camp at TCU. The college football players and coaches signed his t-shirt. They used Sharpies, but is there anything else I need to do to set the names so they don't fade as fast?

Thanks!
I think you're supposed to iron the signatures before washing.

The only think I know of is very old fashioned, but sometimes old fashioned is good. Soak it in cold water and lots of salt for about 24 hours. Then put in the dryer to heat set. After that, treat it as you would a fine washable.

Here's a brief synopsis of my last two days:

Yesterday at my doctor's appointment I found out I'm one cm. dialated! :hyper: It looks like I'll be able to be induced a week early at this point, which means July 7th (guess I'll have to wait on seeing Pirates 2!).

Alyssa's "water babies" swim lessons start up on Monday, so my friend and I took all the kiddos to the community pool last night to re-introduce them to their surroundings. The water was pretty cold, but Alyssa didn't complain too much.

The weekend forecast doesn't look too great, so I made sure we spent some time outside today. We went back to the zoo for about three hours. I'll try to post some pictures later this weekend. I was disappointed that the new koala bears were sleeping again, but we got to see the polar bears at feeding time, so that was exciting. Alyssa also rode the carrousel three times...thank goodness we upgraded our zoo pass and got free rides this year! :)

We had another house showing tonight and our realtor also called to follow-up on some questions posed by the woman who walked through and took pictures on Wednesday night. Maybe one of these days, we'll actually hear an offer!

I think that's it. Our weekend is going to be busy with painting, moving non-furniture items, and keeping Alyssa happy. We're also having another open house on Sunday.

I hope you all have a great weekend!
Amy :)

I think you should paint it white, then get Kevin to put up stripes with painter's tape and painting them blue so that it looks like the background behind the yellow-hatted Minnie, then do curtains in the check that's behind the green-hatted Minnie. If you feel ambitious, you could applique some colorful hatted-Minnies onto the curtains (or maybe Paula would embroider them for you :goodvibes )

Monday, June 5:

The wake up call came bright and early at 6:00. Alan was angry, but I told him he didn't have to get up yet. I always get excited about being at Disneyland, and like to have some alone time to process the thought of going to my "happy place." I showered, got myself ready, and at 7:30 I woke Alan up. He got ready quickly (it never takes him long) and we were off to the lobby. Bryce and Peggy joined us and we decided that we would try for breakfast in the parks. We needed to get to Guest relations quickly in order to pick up the park hoppers for the day. None of us were really hungry anyway!

It was cool and overcast this morning. Very nice weather for touring Disneyland. Not so cold we needed a jacket, but nice and overcast, no glare. Lovely! We got to Guest relations and after a short wait, Alan came back with the 4 park hopper passes. That's one perk of having a husband in the news game. He can get media passes to any theme park in the US. The downside, is that he can only get them for one day, which means we'll have to do both DL and DCA in the same day. This is doable without kids, so we weren't worried. The gates were open, and the crowds were light, so we got through with no problems. We stolled up Main Street, checking out the window displays (which are really fun for the 50th). We got to the top of the street and found that the rope had not dropped yet, so we got to wait in the first line of the day. Alan popped off for a minute and came back with a fresh pineapple spear for breakfast. Yummy! The rope dropped and we were off.

First order of business: Tomorrowland! We had decided the night before, just to do rides that we wanted to do, so we bypassed the Astro Orbiters. There was no line at Star Tours, so on we went! This is a fun ride, but it really ought to be updated! I was able to point out George Lucas to Bryce and Peggy who thought that was really cool!

Next we went to Space Mountain where we thought the line would be very long. It was a 15 minute wait, so that wasn't too bad. This is a GREAT ride! I love it and would gladly have gone on it again, but the others wanted to try out other rides first. We decided to come back to Space Mountain if we could. On we went to Buzz Lightyear. I love this ride. It's fun and interactive. I've never gone on it with Alan, only the kids, so it was fun to compete against Alan. Surprise, surprise, I WON!!!!! I've never beaten Alan at any video game, but I did this time. It will never happen again, so I had to make the most of it! Too fun!!!!!

Having effectively done all that we wanted to in Tomorrowland, we headed off to the Matterhorn. I enjoy this ride, but BOY is it bumpy. Before, I've always had built in padding on my rear end, but it's all gone now, and I was feeling every bump! Still, it was a fun ride, and we survived our encounter with the Abominable Snow monster. At this point we decided to jump on the Railroad and head over to New Orleans Square. It's always fun to ride this, and we were able to hit the Grand Canyon and the dinosaurs on the way!

We disembarked at NOS, and backtracked a little way into Adventureland. There was no waiting at Indiana Jones, but Alan went to get Fast passes anyway. We figured we'd want to ride this one again and this way, we'd be able to. This is a tremendous ride, and we had a blast! Disney really knows how to do the theming, and waiting in the queue is not a problem here. The only problem was that we couldn't find the bamboo pole that makes the roof fall. Paula, do you know if they took it out? We pushed everything we could reach. We did pull the rope and heard the workers yelling at us. There was a group of people behind us who had never done that, and they spent a while pulling the rope and having a good time with that! As always, Indy saved us from certain doom, and we skipped out of there, thankful to have survived!

Next was a stop at the Jungle Cruise. I love this ride, hokey as it is! We had a great skipper, and she really put her heart and soul into the spiel. I was glad to see that they are allowing them to use the guns again, even if they can't shoot at the hippos. It brings back such memories. When my brother was about 4 he went on it for the first time, and was positive that the hippos were charging the boat. He was so grateful to the skipper for shooting the hippo and saving us all. That's what Disney is all about!

We decided to head to Critter Country to get Splash Mountain, and on the way, we popped into the Haunted Mansion. Again there was no wait, and Bryce and Peggy couldn't get over it! They had brought their 6 kids here during the summer, and had a horrible experience. They kept saying that they wished they had come with us before they brought their kids, as it would have made that trip easier. I wisely held my tongue, since we've been asking them to come with us for 4 years. Oh well, lesson learned. Haunted Mansion was wonderful! The new effects are great, and they really help carry the story out! I love this ride, and find it just spooky enough. I don't really enjoy the Nightmare before Christmas overlay, so it was great for me to see it the way it's supposed to be seen!

On to Splash Mountain! This is what Alan has been waiting for. It's his favorite ride, and he is determined to ride it over and over and over! The wait time was 25 minutes, and I thought that would be fine. Anything over 30 and I don't like to wait. Alan grabbed fastpasses for later, and into the line we went. By the time we got to our logs, we were all excited! By the way, Kate, the last seat in the log will hold an adult and a child side by side, but the rest are single seats. Thought you would like to know that! Bryce sat in the front of the log, followed by Peggy, then me, then Alan. Directly behind Alan sat a woman who was VERY Pooh sized. Alan told me we'd probably get wet what with her weight and his combined. Boy, was he right. We walked off that ride dripping wet and laughing uncontrollably! What a hoot! Luckily, it wasn't cold, and we knew we'd dry off soon enough.

It was at this point that I made the worst decision of the trip. We popped into the store at Pooh Corner, and looked around. At the back of the store is the candy counter. I convinced Alan to buy a dipped pretzel stick. We chose one that was dipped in caramel, then chocolate, then rolled in toffee bits. I went outside to wait for Alan and when he came out, he handed it to me, and proceeded to pull another one out of the bag for himself. My original plan was to have one bite and have Alan finish it, but he spoiled that. To top it off, he also bought a triple chocolate brownie! What was he thinking?!? He broke me off a corner and I ate it, I shouldn't have, but I did. It was heavenly! So was the pretzel stick. I ate about 5 bites of the pretzel, and then I knew I'd made a tremendous mistake. I started feeling horrible. One or two bites would have been ok, but I'd gone way over my sugar limit for the day. I ran for the nearest bathroom and quickly threw up. I started to feel better, but knew that I would have "dumping syndrome" for the rest of the day.

However, I didn't want to dampen everyone else's day, so I put my brave face on, and we headed over to Frontierland for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately for my stomach), it was closed for about an hour. So, it was time to decide what to do. Looking at our watches we realized that it was only 11:00 in the morning. We'd been there since 9:00 and had accomplished most of what we wanted to do for the morning. So, we decided to head over to California Adventure for lunch and afternoon fun!

I'll write more later, but now, I have to leave for a doctor's appointment! See y'all later!

Another great day. Thanks foir sharing!!

OMG!! If she's been in the ICU since Sunday it must be pretty serious. I don't recall her mentioning any preexisting conditions. Prayers are being said for her.
