You know, I was thinking as I read the last few posts, that our children are so lucky! From what I can tell about all of you, you are loving, caring mothers who want only the best for your children, and all the other children around you. That's an amazing thing! Something to be proud of! I admire all of you for all the volunteering you do! You all inspire me so much! I just hope you know how important you are, not only to your own kids, but to so many other people. I just wanted you all to know how much I admire all that you do.
Well put, Glynis!! Thank you.

Kate -- you absolutely should be able to vent frustrations on here. This thread has been a true blessing to me and my family! I have appreciated the different views I've received when I've posted asking for advice or PD. Particularly my sinus problems (the worst of my problems disappeared after I had our airducts cleaned at work -- no more mold!!) and my DH's search for a new job.

Here's some :sunny: and :wizard: that the planning goes smoother and that you get plenty of help.

Gina!!! It's great to see you. You need to come back to the thread. We've got so many new DDA members that you have to meet. How have you been?

I agree. :thumbsup2

Could I please have some prayers and pd for my dad, who is undergoing a heart cathaterization (sp?), probably as I type this. He had a stress test last week and there was some blockage, so now they are doing this to figure out the next step. They may not need to do anything, insert stents or do surgery, depending on what is found. He had a heart attack, about 15 yrs ago, and an angioplasty. A year and a half ago he had stents put in for blockage, and now maybe again. Hopefully it will all go well.

Absolutely! Prayers and PD to your Dad :wizard: :wizard: and to you! I'm sure it's hard not being able to be there, and having to wait until someone calls. Hopefully they will not have to do anyting too invasive and it will be quick so that you don't have to worry long.

Good Morning DDA!!! I worked late last night. The nice weather is bringing people out to eat later :bitelip: We normally got our last rush aroud 7 PM, now it is 8 PM. I caught up, but didn't post as I didn't have the patients to deal with the server busy message at midnight. I see lots of different sides to the volunteering argument. Here is my point of view. When the kids first started school I was involved in everything, PTSF (PTO to some of you), volunteered int the classroom on a weekly basis, was an ELF volunteer which was several hours a month and got involved with the Cub Scouts. My plate was pretty full and Colby wasn't born yet. By the time Colby came along I found that I had less time so I participated less, then the afterschool activities began and I had to be the transportation and support system for the boys, more time out of my day. I now keep my volunteering down to being a room parent which means I bake and help with organizing class parties etc. I am also key to our Cub Scout program and have been asked to take over as Cub Master after next year. I already lead one Den, Assist on a second and do all of the Pack ordering. I also organize many of our events. I a lot of ways I am already functioning as the Cub Master. Because everyone knows that I have a hard time saying no, I get many extra volunteer requests. I have even stopped attending PTSF meetings as I always came home with some project that needed doing and added more stress to my life. Even though I don't attend meetings if they find they are short something they will still send me emails and put me on the spot. I have to guess that they are not sending every parent the same emails. I guess my point is that if people know that you do or have volunteered they take more liberties with asking you to do more, where as if you aren't overly involved they leave you alone. Does that make sense? I do not think that I will take over the Cub Master position when it becomes open as I plan to go back to work full time once Colby is in school and I don't want to start something that I will not have enough time to run properly. I don't know how parents that work full time have the time to run the kids around, volunteer, keep their houses picked up. They must have some secret that I don't know about, but I'd sure like to know how they do it. I'm home all day and my house is never completely cleaned. Maybe that's the answer, never be at home and it can't get messed up :confused3 Well this turned into a long post and I am certainly not flaming anyone because I have been on both sides of the argument and understand being able to volunteer verus just not having the time. Then their are those parents that I am thankful do not volunteer as they would not be good role models for children anyway. Just because most everyone can have a child does not mean that everyone should. Some people are just not cut out to be parents and we all know a few of them :sad2:

Tammi, prayers for you dad this am. Keep us posted. Be back later.

Not much on the schedule today. It rained all night last night so it is too wet to go outside. Molly and Jake are getting ready to watch Dumbo. We have to watch it every day sometimes twice. At least when we watch a movie I get to play on the computer!

Emma's soccer practice will more than likely be cancelled. So we will head out and get our birthday present shopping done instead of tomorrow morning.

Tomorrow night, my sister is taking the girls overnight so Eric and I will hit the movies and dinner. It's a toss up between MI3 and The DaVinci Code. He wants to see Xmen but I have no interest. I am very excited as the last movie I think I saw in the theaters was The Polar Express. Yikes!

It's called a housekeeper!!!! I  mine. Granted, no one cleans as well as oneself, but just having the carpets vacuumed, the furniture dusted, the bathrooms cleaned and the floors mopped is enough for me!!!

Good Morning DDA

My DS, Austin, leaves for youth choir tour on Sunday. I wanted to post the stops they will make next week just in case it is close to anyone.

Sunday, June 4th
1st Baptist Church in Springdale, AL

Monday, June 5th
Bethany Baptist Church in Whynot, MS

Tuesday, June 6th
Edgewater Baptist Church in New Orleans, LA

Wednesday, June 7th
Memphis Baptist Church in Dothan, AL

Thursday they are staying the day and night at Edgewater Beach Resort in Panama City and then heading back home on Friday. This will be the 1st time Austin has been away from home for that amount of time without at least a family member. He is really excited about it but I am just a bit worried but I know he will be fine.

Let me know if anyone lives around any of those churches and will be able to see the musical/play.

Well, I'm back from book club. It was really interesting tonight. The book we read was told from the point of view of a boy with Asberger's syndrome. One of our members also has a son with the disease, and it was interesting to get her take on the book.

Lindsay - enjoy Hawaii! You so deserve it! I can't wait to hear all about it.

Jennifer - enjoy your cruise! You and Kyle are going to have so much fun!

Kate - :grouphug: to you as you try to figure out all the VBS stuff. I'm glad that you feel you can vent here. Makes me feel like part of the family. Our church doesn't do anything like VBS, so to hear you all talk about it is a new experience for me.

Denise - Good luck on the doctor's appointment tomorrow! I'll be sending good thoughts.

You know, I was thinking as I read the last few posts, that our children are so lucky! Before I went to sleep I reminded myself to ask Glynis about the book. I think that's going to be on my list of reads.

My book group is reading The Tortilla Curtain. Not sure how I like it yet.

A friend told me yesterday to put down all my books and stop reading because I have too many stressors in my life. She said she's had to do that a couple of times. I usually can read 2 or 3 chapters an hour right now I am at 10 pages so maybe she's right.

We don't :rotfl2: We got home last night from a "rained out swim meet" at 9:30pm. My DH made the comment that the house was a mess. The 2nd half of the swim meet will be tonight and hopefully the rain will stay away. I have no plans on Saturday except for getting my hair done at 1pm so I know we will be able to get some picking up and cleaning up done then. He doesn't make the comment about it being a mess to complain thought. He is a very helpful husband and doesn't mind helping with the housework. He understands that I am just as busy as him.

We have ducks in our neighborhood and well it is mating season so everynight around 10:30 or so all I hear are them going at it. The water splashing around and the quacks drive me bonkers. What cracks me up is that there is one female and 4 or 5 males and they are always together. Couldn't pay me enough to be a duck.

Hope you were able to make it 3 in a row!

Nope, I probably jinxed it!!!
Plus my girls went to bed at the same time as I did but were giggling and talking....sent them out to the living room. Perplexes me that they get on each other's nerves during the day but as soon as it's bedtime they are in the same bed and all lovey dovey. :confused3
