I'm asking for prayers for my neighbor. Her 24 year old daugher passed away on the 14th from a massive stroke. She left a newborn baby boy.

Prayers being said.

Good morning! Hope everyone is having a great day :sunny: I just ordered the 3 piece Mickey luggage, does anyone have these? I also got the 20 dvd set off of Ebay, I can't wait to watch these! Can you tell I am having withdrawals here lol

I mentioned in the past about my youngest ds having some problems, well unfortunetley things have not gotten any better. Riley has always been a very active child & when he was in 2cd grade his teacher suggested that I get him tested for adhd. I did not take this advice, I just figured he was being a normal boy. Maybe I should have listened, I don't know. I have done some research on it & alot of the symptoms sound just like him. I have a meeting with the school today & he also has a Dr appointment to be tested. I do hope that we can get this figured out, I am just so confused as to what is going on with him. I feel guilty as well that I did not do something sooner. I could use some :wizard: that we find some answers & get Riley on the right track.

Channon I am so sorry to hear about your neighbor, I could not even begin to imagine :grouphug:

Kate, Tammi, Kristine, Marti, Paul, & Matt I know you will have a wonderful time! I am so jealous, wish I were going soon. Look forward to hearing your reports & seeing some pictures :cool1:

Amy I am sorry about your dog, but am happy to hear that you & Matthew are ok.

I know I have missed alot, I may not post often but I read everyday & think of you all. Here are some :grouphug: & :wizard: for those in need.

Janet -- I have two boys with ADHD and dyslexia. They've both been tested, and go to the largest school in the nation for bright children with learning differences.

Anyway, if you want to PM me with any questions, I'd be happy to help out.

And don't feel guilty -- your initial reaction is a very common one. Since my kids have been at this school for 5 years, I've heard many stories and developed a large support group on this topic. The important thing here is that you are getting him help.

Glynis -- I always get lots of good comments on yogurt parfaits (vanilla yogurt, strawberries, and Grape Nuts) served in baby food jars.

That's a great idea! Thanks!

Do you know how to make word searches? A cousin is going for his 1st ever trip with us in December. I would like to have one made that will tell him he is going, but also have things about WDW too.
Check out the links on this thread to make your own: Printables

Or try themouseforless.com for Disney word searches already made.

You are welcome!
Another thing I love to do for my closest friends/relatives having girls -- I normally pick up gifts for the baby that I think they can use/will like and keep them until the shower. (A first Barbie, my favorite baby blanket, etc.) Then I go to Toys 'R Us and buy a baby doll stroller or baby doll bassinet. Put the items in it with different colors of tissue paper and a big bow on the handle. It makes a cute presentation to stroll it in during the gift giving.
Have fun with all this planning!

Keep the faith!! Remember, there is a buyer for every house...and I agree with dropping the price...you'll have to adjust until you get the people in. (I know-it's very hard!!!!!!!) But you WILL sell!!!!!

Listen to the realtor. She knows what she's talking about!

I don't think it is odd, at all. I am sure we are a much more diverse and varied group than the people who live on your street. After all we live in different countries or on opposite ends of the same country so we have different experiences and opinions.

For Ahead of Time
Could you possibly get everyone who is invited to make a quilt square ahead of time and then sew them together and make a quilt. Everyone would make the same size square. Obviously lots of pink but each person could decorate their square as a momento for the new baby.

Along the same lines have everyone make a scrapbook page. All about being a girl, could be well wishes, could be introducing yourself to the new baby etc. Assmeble these in a scrapbook ahead of time. Make sure you specify a size.

Pamper Pond
Have everyone bring an object to pamper Mom, it could be nail polish, bubble bath, body wash, gift certificate for a restaurant, certificate for someone to watch the kids, whatever people come up with to pamper the Mom to be. These items all get put into the pamper pond. The pamper pond could in actuality be any object the items get placed into. Everything that gets placed into the pamper pond must be for Mom's use and it must pamper and treat Mom.

Games
Dirty Diaper
Get a bunch of disposable diapers and various candy bars. Melt each candy bar in a bowl. Dump or scrape each candy bar into their own diaper. Label each diaper with a number, letter or color. Record what candy bar corresponds to each symbol you have chosen. Do this ahead of time.

At the party give each person a piece of paper with all of your chosen symbols on it. Pass the diapers around each person must guess what candy bar is in each diaper and write it on their piece of paper. The winner is the person who gets the most correct.

Empty the Bottle
Fill several baby bottles with soda, juice, etc before the party. Pick several people from the party to be your participants. See who can empty the baby bottle the fastest. They must leave the nipple on the bottle.

This might fall under the embarassment category, so perhaps you don't want to play it. When the Mom to be gets there at some point have her wrap a piece of yarn around her stomach and chop off the size that wraps completly around.

Pass a skein of yarn around at the party, everyone chops off a piece of yarn the size they think the Mom to be's belly is. Compare each person's to the one that was wrapped around the Mom to be.

Perhaps next time I shouldn't try to type and paint at the same time. Too many projects. I am off to bed. I hope those of you going to WDW, have a great trip and don't forget the sunblock.

Thanks. These are great ideas!

My assignments are in :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

The last two were really hard as the questions were so badly worded, and every time we asked for clarification we got a different anwer, so I'm not sure the tutor even knows what his own question means!

But I did the best I could and they've been sent - so its not worth worrying about them now until I get the results back! :teeth:

So I'm now going to enjoy what's left of my week off without being glued to my laptop... pity the :sunny: has just left and the rain has returned :rotfl:

And we just got two lovely new sofas delivered - gotta go help DH saw the other two up so that we can get them out of the house and take them to the tip :)

:yay:

Congratulations on getting the assignments in!

That's gotta feel really good! Enjoy the rest of your week off!

2 new sofas!?! That's great! Enjoy them, too!

A great pink punch recipe is Strawberry Ginger Ale and Vanilla Ice Cream scoops. Make some ice trays with the ginger ale w/ 1/2 of a strawberry frozen in the cubes. That keeps the punch from getting watered down as the cubes melt. Pour the ginger ale in the punch bowl and then scoops of vanilla ice cream in the punch.

Lynn

That sounds good! Thanks!

It's been a busy few days around here. Things always start to get crazy in May as the last concerts of the year, etc. are squeezed in.

Saturday was Miles' birthday party for his friends. We had it at the local gymnastics center with "Magical Inflatables" which are huge inflated animals for the kids to play in. They start the party with some gymnastics: tumbling, trampoline, and rings. Then they inflate the Inflatables and let the kids go crazy (within reason). Finally, we had a room for cake and presents.

This is the cake that I made for that birthday party.

And here is the birthday boy on the rings.

Yesterday, I sent cupcakes in to his classroom. This may be the last year that I can do that. The school district is writing a healthy foods policy that will prohibit sweets/fats and limit classroom celebrations to once a month. Ignore the Easter themed cupcake paper. Even the best moms occasionally forget that they are out of the regular papers. Since I was baking around midnight, running out for more wasn't really an option. I doubt the kids even noticed.

Beth

Looks like fun and the cake/cupcakes look scrumptious!!

Yesterday was his actual birthday, so we had cake and presents at home with just the family. Since his third birthday, his requested cake has been chocolate cake with strawberries on top. Last year, he wanted them to be choclate-covered strawberries. I got a little fancy dipping the berries this year.

Here is are a couple of photos of the cake covered with the strawberries.

lovesdumbo and Chanon, thanks for the links.

Beth great cakes.

I bought three pairs of sleep shorts and three t-shirts to make him some summer pajamas. I think that they came out cute. It was also a chance to play around with the transfers before I make all of our Disney shirts for August. I couldn't find any Disney sleep shorts, but he liked the ones that I bought.

So, that is why I haven't been around much lately.

I think you only get them if you walk through the woods. Jeff and I were cearing out the underbrush under some oak trees were we plan to put our picinic table and bar b q pit I was sitting on the ground trying to get all the weeds and stuff out. so I think that is how I got bit bye them.

hmm I thought you might say that... here's why I was asking.

I went to NYC for a few days in September a couple of years back. Two days after I got home I had what I thought were mosquito bites on my knee and my ankle. The next day I woke up with itchy bumps all up my legs and on my arms. I thought I had chicken pox and went to the docs but he said they weren't. Said he'd never seen anything like it... nothing in his text books... had a blood test that came back negative... the bumps lasted a few days and we're really itchy...

To this day I still have no idea what they were... some mystery American illness I bought home... or something was eating me... just wondering if this could have been it...

:)

We had great fun sawing the old two in half! We had to do that as we couldn't get them back out through the front door :rotfl: Luckily the new ones are slightly smaller so they came in just fine - they're a very grown up cream with huge comfy scatter cushions... very comfy... when DH got up to go to football I was plumping them up and he laughed and said I needed to add it to my daily Flylady list :teeth:
