My grandmother's name is Mary Louise also. My other grandmother was Mary Harriet, she hated the Harriet but she was named after both of her grandmothers. We decided on Molly as it is the Irish form of Mary as we wanted to keep a family name but I have to be a little different. Emma was named after my great grandmother.

Out here, Mary is quite an uncommon name right now. There are so few of them. I love a name that has family heritage. My Katie is named for several ancestors, my son Jacob Hunter is named for my grandfather Hunter James, and the twins are both named family names: Mary Louise and Leslie Gayle after my husbands' father (Leslie) and my mother (Gayle).

Hope you all have a great day.

Jo, did your ex come through with a meal today? I've been wondering.

Hope you had a great mother's day! No one deserves it more!

Hey I have a request for everyone -

I LOVE that I could make you all personal signatures and it is very sweet that you put that I made them in your signatures - unfortunately - that appears to be advertising for me and the signature requests are getting a little out of hand!

The signatures really take too long for me to be making them for anyone who wants one - plus it is something special I can do for you all!!

SO - if all wouldn't mind, could you please not say in your signatures who made them? THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

I can't seem to find any of them and I had no idea them came in superhero's also.
I will continue to look.

Are they in the toy section? That is where I have been looking.

I found mine in the Value Toy section. There's a whole bunch of toys that are quite cheap, like 88 cents. They are the not so well made toys. I don't know why the Zizzlingers were there!

By the way, Katie earned enough points to open hers today. She was so excited. She got one of the Snow Whites and Pocohantas. She was thrilled! I don't think she's let go of them yet! Now I can't wait for the other kids to earn enough points to open theirs!

Chuck is so funny!!!!! All of a sudden as he is using his laptop, he says "I've been betrayed! What? Does word pass around the world in 30 seconds? I feel so dirty. Is a lurker like a peeping tom? Do I need to get my trench coat on?"

I told him we needed to get him an id so he could post that. He said that I could do it for him. I told him that I wanted him to know that he is welcome here and that I have no secrets from him. I'm so happy that he is here!!!! He did tell me he figures it is the only way to have a conversation with me. :lmao:

Thanks Theresa for welcoming him!!!!!

Welcome, Chuck!!! You should know that we all think you are a great guy! Anyone who lets Vicki come play on the DIS as much as you do must be very understanding! Come join in the fun! We love to meet the spouses of our friends. Maybe if you come out and play we can talk Kitchensink guy, Mac, Tom and Paul into posting more often. We might even get Jen's Kyle, and maybe Keving back to posting. Come one out, guys. We all miss you!

Glynis - we just fell in love with Julia's name - it just seemed so classic to us - and not very common - her middle name is my maiden name - and I use my maiden name instead of my middle name now (which is Mary) and she loves that!!! B/c her middle name is the same as my parent's last name - it took her a while to grasp that it wasn't her last name and she used to say her name was Julia last name middle name - it was very cute and my parents loved - my in-laws not so much!! :lmao:

Nick's middle name is James - I found out I was pregnant on Christmas Eve and I wish I could tell you that is why we picked it but we really just loved his name - I wanted to name him Steve but Steve refused so then I wanted Steve for his middle name - but then his initials would have been NSF and Steve did not want him to have to initial financial papers with NSF

so literally driving into the hospital parking lot we chose James - we decided that we really admired all the men that we know named Jim and it was a good name - and my doctor who delivered him was James - he had been awesome through a difficult pregnancy so that sealed it for us!!

of course, I heard Julia tell Nick yesterday - "Nick your middle name is James - mommy and daddy named you after the train in Thomas!!!: :rotfl:

I still cry and my kids are 34, 31, 27. My oldest son was saying boodbye to me tonight and he said thank you. I said your welcome and he held me and looked directly in my face and said again "Thank You for all you do"
Of course I cried and am crying now as I write this.

Terry, sounds like you have a wonderful son! And in order for that to happen, he had to have a wonderful mom! I second him in saying Thank You! Good mom's make good people, and the world needs more of those!

Way to be strong, Kate! Did you remind her that she gets to go to DL in October? I'm starting to get so excited for you May 18 trippers. Can't wait to read the "real" trip report, although I think the one Kate already posted may be funnier.

Here's the weekend camping trip report.

We left here at 3 PM, as soon as the boys got off the school bus. We hit rain off and on all the way to the campground. It stopped raining for a long enough time when we arrived and we were able to stay relatively dry while setting up. We got a brief shower around 5 PM, but it cleared up pretty nicely and we were able to have our group campfire. Since at 8 PM some families were still arriving we didn't finish all the skits and songs until around 9:30 PM. Most of the family hurried off to bed at that time. I was not at all tired so my family and a couple of other families sat by the campfire until almost midnight. It was very relaxing the skits were so much fun. It really was a great time. We had rain during the night and apparently it poured while many of the tenters were preparing breakfast. We came out of our camper around 9 AM and it wasn't raining. The mini golf tournament was at 9:30 AM. We had 9 teams made up of the Scouts along with various family members. The groups were mixed up pretty well although somehow my Mom and Chris ended up on Nick's team with one of the other siblings. They won the tournament. It was fun and we got to spend time with people that we probably wouldn't have. We went back to camp and made our lunches. At 1 PM the scouts went on and orienteering treasure hunt. They had to use maps, compasses and follow directions to find the treasure. It was pouring, but they still had fun (I got a 20 minute nap in with Colby :teeth: ) We had our fishing challenge at 2 PM. It was raining so hard that the fish really weren't biting. Only 3 boys caught one fish a peice. I had 5 prizes and only 3 winners :confused3 Since it was really raining I talked to the campground owner and arranged to use the rec center for the group dinner. We cooked under the porch roof and ate inside. It was nice and most importantly dry. Since I had 2 extra prizes I raced around the campground and came up with clues to a scavenger hunt. We sent the scouts out after dinner and of course 3 boys (actually 3 dads) all came running back at the same time. The had to split the prizes between the 3 boys. We handed out all the prizes and went back to our sites. The rain finally slowed down so we had another campfire with some light rain periodically. Everyone had turned in by 10 PM. We woke up this morning to no rain although everything was still very wet. We packed up and our family played another game of mini golf before heading home. We got home around 1:30 and I had to be to work at 4 PM. Very busy weekend, but lots of fun. People were already talking about next year. I really think that all families had fun and there were no conflicts which makes it a huge success.

Deb

Wow, Deb, talk about making lemonade out of the lemons you were handed! Good job! Sounds like you all had a good time. What ever happened with the food assignments? I hope you didn't have to stress too much while you were there.

Hope everyone had a good Mother's Day. I broke my Mother's Day gift Davis made me on the way out of school Friday. They had painted flower pots (Ed Emberly finger art). He and I both stood in the parking lot of school crying. So, his teacher gave me the paint and today Davis and I painted a new flower pot together. Then they all painted a water dish for it to sit in. It was fun. Went out Friday night (they had a parent's night out at Karate) and John and I saw MI3. I was surprised how good it was. And I can't stand Tom Cruise now, but, DANG, did he look FINE!!!!!!!!! And he rode a motorcycle like in Top Gun (flash back to 1986).

Tomorrow is the kid's graduation from pre-school and then we have Rees' IEP meeting at the Elem School (very formal legal proceeding) at 2:30pm. So wish me luck. It'll be a big day for us.

Talk to y'all soon.

Thanks for sharing those stories! I love hearing about how people choose the names for their kids. It's such a special thing.

Deb-

It sounds like a wonderful weekend!!! Even with the rain!!

We picked a canopy up last year for camping and used it yesterday for the party....all the kids had fun having a safari picnic. Thanks for reminding why I picked it up for camping!! Obviously you had some fairly newbie family campers.

What a way to spend Mother's Day!!!

Good luck tomorrow! Take lots of pictures of the graduation. I'll be sending good thoughts your way for the IEP meeting!

Glad that your Mother's Day was good! I love those homemade gifts. Katie made me a set of refrigerator magnets, and Jacob made a bookmark, and a frame. So fun! Alan got me a large pot which he planted with tons of flowers to sit on my porch, then he had the kids put their handprints on it. It's so darling, and I love to look at those little fingers. DH scored big as he bought me a new set of scriptures. My old ones were falling apart, so I really appreciate his thoughtfulness. He also got me a CD by the 5 Browns. They are a sibling group that all went to Juilliard Music School. They play the piano so beautifully! They are originally from here in Alpine. If you ever get a chance to hear them, you should. They play simultaneously on 5 beautiful Steinway Grand pianos. Amazing sound! All in all, it was a very good day!

Oh, and Pal Mickey from Deb is a HUGE hit at our house. They fight over him every night with who gets him in bed. So PM is on a rotating schedule. The only problem is Rees is having a hard time pressing the hands because of the CP. He's very frustrated that he can't play the games better. I think a PM may be a gift on our next trip in Sept!

Oh, and PM has a new t-shirt that says "Donald Duck #1!" :rotfl:

Well, it's bedtime for me! I hope everyone had a lovely day today!

Happy Birthday to Cassidy and Abi!

Another big welcome to Chuck. Stick around awhile.

I'll check in with you all tomorrow. I'm babysitting my great-nephew tomorrow morning, so I'll see you in the afternoon unless Sammy decides to let me have a few minutes to play with you all.

Denise -

that is so sweet!! I imagine that flower pot will always hold an extremely special place in your heart now!!

My favorite piece of art in our house is a framed finger painting that Julia did at 3 - Nick keeps asking if he can do one for us - I guess it is time to go back to the art studio!!!

Did you see MI 1 & 2 - I am wondering if I have to see those before I see MI3

Since it's the girls birthday I wanna share the origins of their names!! :teeth:

We literally played the alphabet game for Cassidy Cheyenne. We liked Cassidy and so went through the alphabet game 4 times before we both liked a name. Cassidy told us today she would choose her name for herself.

Now for Abi:

Cassidy told us that I had a baby in my tummy. I told her no I do not, I am just feeling icky. We get confirmation (original estimated due date was early April) and we didn't have to tell her she said "I have baby sister for my birthday." "No, sweetie the baby will be here for your birthday." No convincing her. At the ultrasound we figured out the baby was due in May. No convincing Cassidy that she could have a baby brother. Sister for her birthday!!! So we told her she got to pick the baby's first name. Abigail's middle name is KateLynn, Kate is what my mom wanted to be called as a kid(Kathleen) and Lynn is Jim's mom's middle name. We went through the baby name book and Cassidy would not listen to any names past Abigail  . We had a friend from South America at the time who was an Abi.

That is actually the short story of Abi's name :lmao: sorry!!

Denise - did you know that you can also squeeze his tummy?

Nick has a hard time with the hands and so we taught him to hug PM instead and that seems to be working!!
