MrsHeg -- congrats on your daughter's graduation, and thank you for sharing the pictures. I think it really hits home when you see personal pictures that someone is willing to share.

Here's a recipe for a dip that is always a hit. I don't know if you are willing to use ones that need to be cooked first, but if you are, here it is:

Artichoke Dip

4 ounces cheddar cheese, grated
4 ounces parmesan cheese, grated
1 14 oz. can artichoke hearts, drained
½ cup chopped green onions
½ teaspoon garlic salt
½ cup mayonnaise
Paprika for seasoning

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix together cheeses, artichoke hearts, green onions, garlic salt and mayonnaise. Sprinkle paprika over the top. Bake for 20 minutes, or until bubbly. I have tried this with low-fat ingredients, and it is still good.

Good luck with the party!

But I don't wanna raise my hand as it hurts too much. Somehow I bruised myself right above my breasts and am very black and blue. Raising my arm is quite painful. I wish I knew what I hurt myself on so I could hurt it back. I know way too much information.
Feel better soon, Becky!

Hi, Paula! Night all. This DaVinci Code book is good. I want to stay up and read, but I've got to get some sleep. I was up till 3am last night doing research on Rees. See y'all tomorrow after the kids dentist appt. Oh, and PD for Rees please. He stresses out so much at the Dentist. They are going to give him laughing gas to calm him down. Poor kid.

Good morning everyone! I thought everyone might need a laugh today. This video was posted on the CB but I know a lot of people here don't venture over there so I thought I'd post the link. You'll need sound so if you're at work turn the volume down a bit so you don't get caught ;)

This guy has some good moves! I especially like the part after Kung Fu Fighting :teeth: .

I did some reading last night trying to catch up but I didn't take notes so I'm off to try to catch up again. Hope you all have a great day!!

Now that was a great start to a day. Thanks for the laugh. I had to save that in my favorites and I'll be passing it on!

Thanks for all the replies thus far...

I have no doubt in my mind that Emma will not be going on the trip. And Eric will support my decision what ever it is. He is one that has gone overseas by himself as a child as has his sister. To them it is a natural thing. I had a similar trip with my grandparents as Vicki's DD's to Niagara when I was little. I loved travelling with them and was ok to be without my parents for extended periods of time. But there was never an ocean between my parents and me.

I really appreciate all the comments. I guess I needed to get my thoughts out there and have them validated. And who knows a year is a long time from now. Maybe will we have hit the lottery and be able to go as a family.
I'm having issues with my in-laws wanting to take Christopher(5) to Central Texas for a week this summer. I can't even imagine them asking to take him out of the country. I totally trust my in-laws but I think he's too young to be so far from home without at least one of his parents. I don't blame you a bit for not wanting her to go.

There is a politician in New Hampshire whose name is Richard Swett, but he campaigns as Dick swett :rotfl: :rotfl: What where those parents thinking?

I would say knowing Paula she probably has 5 or 6 SSP's and is playing us all off each other because we think we know the 1 or 2. :lmao: :lmao:

HEY! Who told you! :rotfl2:

All current SSP’s will be revealed by 1 Aug. (why so long? I am only one person and can only work so fast). ;)

I had to laugh...I'm watching Martha Stewart and she was talking about meeting a girl named Lauren who is dating Ralph Lauren's son. So if they got married she'd be Lauren Lauren. I thought of y'all!

I'm not going to bore everyone with pages of my PPP so I'm off to try to get some laundry done and I'll check back later. My brain isn't working well enough to take notes and do it all in one post.

I am behind again trying to get caught up at work but I really need some advise. Please tell me if I am I over reacting to this:

Saturday was my birthday and Lizzie was upset that she didn't have a gift for me so I asked DH to take her to a small local bookstore when he went out to run a errand. When they came home I heard DH & Lizzie discussing a Soduko book they bought for me (I am a numbers gal so I would have really liked it). When they gave me the gifts there was a presidents sticker book from Lizzie (my DH is a history buff and he said I could do it with Lizzie and maybe I'd learn something too-nice huh?) and an early reader history book about 2 local girls who scared off the British by playing the fife and drum from Joe & Emma. I had told DH the trip was my gift so he didn't need to get me anything. I asked DH later what happened to the Soduko book and he said he couldn't find it when they were wrapping the gifts. Lizzie had taken it. It is now on her desk. I told her that she really hurt my feelings by taking a gift that was meant for me-especially when she knows what I have planned for her birthday. I'm really hurt by her but am I expecting too much from a 6 (nearly 7) year old? I'm really mad at DH for allowing her to get away with this and for allowing her to treat me like this. How can not see how bad it is for her to think this behavior is OK? Now I don't even really want to go away with her. I am considering canceling the trip and using the Southwest credit to purchase air for the family trip. I've spoken to Lizzie about it several times but she still hasn't given up the book that isn't hers. I don't think I should just take it from her. DH said he's spoken to her twice but I don't see how he ever let this happen in the first place.

Is this all just about a stupid book? I think it so much more. I just don't know what to do/how to react.

She is definately testing her limits. This is an issue that your dh needs to deal with. If you hadn't overheard the conversation then you wouldn't be hurt at all, but he knows the whole situation and should put his foot down and dish out the consequences. If she gets away with this, knowing how it has hurt your feelings then there will be more to come in the future. JMHO.

Paula,
I don't have a clue what your ssp's are but I've heard you mention your fancy sewing machines before. What kind do you have? A friend of the family has one (I can't remember the name but I'd know it if I heard it - I think it starts with a J) and she can scan pictures in and it will sew? the picture. I'll have to take a picture of the purse she made me and post it. It's awesome! I would love to be able to do stuff like that. I can sew window treatments and simple Halloween costumes but that's the extent of my expertise.

Hi MrsHeg, we have not met yet for I have been in DDA timeout. (ok, it was only a few days of being unable to get on line for long, but it feels like timeout)

Congratulations on your DD graduation.

I have a very simple recipe for summer; you could use it at the reception.

Tortellini salad

Roman lettuce (or what ever kind you like)
1 package of pre-made (fresh) chicken and herb tortellini
Croutons
Tomatoes
Ranch dressing

Cook the tortellini and then let it cool (you don’t want the salad to wilt)
Mix the room temp tortellini, tomatoes, croutons, and lettuce with a light amount of ranch and BAM! You have a great side dish or even main dish you can serve with garlic bread. Great for summer because it is not hot and is very filling.

Off to get Ellie ready for school.

Ok DDA, I don't usually ask for PD and certainly not for trivial things like the weather, but it is looking like a washout here for Friday and Saturday which is our camping trip for 40 people. I really hope that we get a little sun, ok just not rain would be perfect. I have a campfire scheduled for Friday night complete with each den performing something for the group and of course s'mores. Saturday is packed with a mini golf tournament, orienteering challenge and fishing tournament as well as our group meal, prepared by the Webelos. I could really use all the pixie dust you can spare to pull off a weather miracle for the boys and families. Thank you so much.

I am happy to report that I am working on the last design request in my PM box! :Pinkbounc I also have the costumes altered to send to Denise and Pal Mickey is ready to head out on his vacation. He will be visiting the Figs in Atlanta :thumbsup2 So the costumes will be traveling with Pal Mickey. While getting the Zues and Hades costume out for Denise I realized that I have an absolutely adorable Pegasus costume that is a size 2T (if I remember correctly) that would be perfect for one of our little DDAers. Is anyone heading to MNSSHP and needing a Disney (homemade) costume for a little one? It is perfect for a girl or boy and I can post a picture if you'd like. I'd be happy to share.

I agree with Deb esp. that your husband has to deal completely with this. He is the only one who really knows all of it and is really the only one who should be doling out consequences.
I know that you are hurt but would you be this hurt if you hadn't overheard their conversation about the book? It sounds like there is some hurt there from something else, not just the book.

Is this all just about a stupid book? I think it so much more. I just don't know what to do/how to react.

Your question was am I overreacting and I am going to have to say yes.

She is 6/7 years old.

If I am correct the gifts were from her - if the book was supposed to be from her and she decided not to give it to you - that is within her rights and if your DH did not discuss it with her or take the book back that is between them.

IMHO - you have no place in the discussion. Had you not overheard about the book, you would not know about it. I do think that your DH should have told her, "if you don't want to give her the book, that is fine but then I am returning it or you can pay me back for it."

Cancelling your trip seems more like a way to hurt her than to punish her. If you are going to do the punishing then it should be more along the lines of - you need to pay for the book or return it - if you refuse to do both - then I am going to cancel this meal at WDW to pay for the book. Odds are she will give the book to you then.

I think you will have bigger behavior issues if you cancel your trip to WDW - cause I am guessing that is the biggest punishment in your arsenal - is this the worst thing she could have done? Cause if she does something REALLY bad - what are you going to do then? I think human nature is to think well if I do somethine little - I am going to get a HUGE punishment - then I might as well go for the gusto!
