:cheer2: Congratulations that's quite an accomplishment. I read Medea once long ago isn't it a tragedy?

Yup... and that is one reason it is so funny that her first role in a college Main Stage Production is NOT a comedy ;)

(By the way... Kristin says thanks to all her DDA aunts and uncles for their congrats)

Morning everyone!!

Boy that was an interesting night last night! Thanks for the early morning laughs!

I called off yesterday with a MAJOR head cold...fever, coughing, sore throat, aches...late last night the it seems the fever finally broke. I still have coughing, but hoping cough drops will help. I'm SO TIRED of hot tea. That's all I could handle yesterday. I'm attempting a few sips of coffee right now (and it doesn't taste good), and maybe some toast. So I'm gonna attempt to get ready for work.

You are about 2 hours south of me. Then it would be another approximately 3-3.5 hours to Rochester.

Beth

Thanks Beth, that's not to bad.

Thank you to everyone especially Denise for a good morning laugh fest. :teeth:

I have a proud Mom moment to share too. As you know, Kristin (DD19) is a theatre performance major in college. Every spring the entire department is required to audition for the following semester's Main Stage productions. This is a highly competitive time as they only do 4 shows a year on that stage and there are about 150 performance majors vying for those casts.

The plays being produced next semester are "The Nerd" (a comedy) and "Medea" (... not a comedy ;) )

Kristin assumed that if she was to be cast she would win a role in the comedy since that is one of her strengths. Well... guess what... ::yes:: ... you got it... she is in "Medea." She was cast as one of the Chorus.

The director is a Visiting Artist from the Royal Shakespeare Company who is quite young and a little out of the box, so Kristin is more enamored with the production now. The callbacks were rigorous and she is fascinated by the tack this director is taking so far. The role of Medea will be played by a very talented hearing impared grad student. She will sign her lines and they will be interpreted in the spoken word. I cannot wait to see it!

I am so proud of Kristin and her hard work to get this part and am looking forward to watching her grow as an actor through this new opportunity. If I could, I would buy all the available tickets and invite you all to Tammi's house to stay so you could be there for opening night.... :rotfl2:

Congrats to Kristin!!!

Oh it was great!!! I went to my DS's school this afternoon & it couldn't have gone better. I brought my little DD with me since she only has half day preschool. So I meet the teacher in the hall. We walked to the room & she stands at the door & tells the kids that they have a special treat today..2 secret readers! I walk in with & my son jumps up yelling "Mommy, Mommy!" & comes running to hug me & my DD.

I read the story to the kids & they really listened well. I always wanted to be an elementary school teacher so things like this put me in my glory. Anyway, after the story I told the kids that I brought cauliflower for them all & they all laughed & went "ewww" but then I brought out the goody bags with fun stuff & candy & they all said "you tricked us" & laughed. They were all so cute. My DS got to hand them out to his classmates & I could tell he was really proud to do so. He got a special sticker from the teacher & he was all smiles. He said "You are such a good mommy, that I couldn't make a mommy better than you". :faint: I was in tears. Some days that little boy can drive me to the nuthouse  but he was just so sweet today.

Thanks for asking.

That is so sweet!

So I was up and read along for most of the posting party last night, but I was just so frustrated with real life that I didn't feel like posting. As many of you know I am heavy involved with our local cub scouts program. Well last night was our monthly pack meeting which I was asked to run as the Cub Master had to work. I literally spent all day organizing the awards, putting together materials that needed to be covered and working out the craft projects for the evening. This on top of continuing to plan for our Pack camping trip next weekend. I have put so many hours into writing letters to businesses to get donations, follow up calls, putting together events at the campground and all the little details that needed to be worked out. Now the rest of the Pack will never have any idea how much I have done to make this camping trip special for the kids. So back to my point. The meeting was at 6 PM. At about 5 I get an email from a Parent of one of the boys in my den that he will not be coming as she is behind in Real Life (and who isn't?) Then another Den leader calls to say that he is stuck at work and could I hand out the awards for his Den too. Somehow we actually get a decent turn out and the kids are attentive. So I tell them about all the upcoming events and all the plans and donations that I've gotten. I had made up a sign up sheet for the rest of the items that we would need as a Pack to pull off the Group Dinner (40-50 people) and misc supplies like wood for the campfire. I had hoped that each family would sign up for 2 things and that the people with campers would offer do make the hot/cold dishes as they have the space and equipment to do so. Man was I wrong. This is what They signed up for:
Family 1 Seafood Lasagna (they have a camper)
Family 2 Taco Salad (they are tenting, how are they planning to heat this?)
Family 3 Mac Salad and wood (camper and they were actually paying attention :cheer2: )
Family 4 Plastic ware (tent)
Family 5 dessert plates (tent)
Family 6 watermelon and chips (large camper, *** can't they consider the tenters for this?)
Family 7 dessert (tent)
Family 8 dessert (tent they have 2 boys that are scouts)

Already on the sheet was what Chris and I were bringing which is coffee and fixins, 5 Gallons of orange Powerade and hot chocolate mix. My mother is bringing Lasagna and a blueberry dessert. I also have to pick up and bring all of the donations which include all the hamburger, hotdogs and buns as well as all the event prizes.

I don't know how I should feel or what I should do about this. We are only having one meal together because we have a lot of events planned throughout the weekend and Group meals take much longer than family style meals. I'm thinking that we don't have enough food for the group meal and certainly not much variety. With the amout of wood that was offered we should be able to have a fire for a few minutes one night :confused3 I'm not sure why we should have to do everything and bring everything. I told Chris after the meeting last night that I am just going to send out an email that lists what we have and see if anyone volunteers for anything else. If not my camper is fully supplied so my family will be fine and the rest can worry about themselves. I know that this is a long rant, but my panties are really in a bunch about this. After last year I had decided not to plan it again, but the Pack had so much fun that they asked me to do it again and being such a pushover I said yes.

On top of that Nick and Chris have a different Boy Scout overnight campout this weekend and I have to get them ready for that too.

Well, I'm off to the store to get the rest of the supplies for this weekend as it is supposed to rain on Saturday so they need waterproof boots and rain suits.

Because there was some doubt that I could make it. My best friend Rose has been battling breast cancer and they are throwing her a HUGE party on -- you guessed it -- Saturday May 20. Paul, Matt and I were the ONLY non family members invited, and I'm slightly crushed that I can't make it. Its a surprise for her - so I can't even call her to tell her how bad I feel. Then my uncle died and its been heck around here. But I am definitely going - I just never put it back in my signature.
:wizard: for Rose that she wins her battle. Maybe you all can take her out and do something special together after you get back, to make up for missing the party.
