Hey

the doctor has no idea what is going on and decided to send Nick for a CT Scan - so we headed to Children's Hospital and he was uncooperative and freaked when they put him in the machine so he will have to be sedated - unfortunately he had eaten a few hours before and he has to go 8 hours without eating - so we could wait until tonight to see when they could fit us in or go back tomorrow at 12:30

we decided to wait - I think it is good the doctor doesn't feel the test is urgent - and she told me she really does not expect the test to find anything but she really wants to rule out all the "yucky stuff: (her words) first

I am doing my best to keep the negative thoughts out - but they of course creep in every once in a while

she told me obviously the first concern is a brain tumor with the symptoms - but he does not present as a child with a tumor - his motor skills and function is normal - but she would rather be safe than sorry

So I am in for a long 24 hours as I am sure I will not sleep well - please keep Nick in your prayers!!

Always!!!! I'm sure that you will have a rough day and night of it, but try to keep calm. I'm sending positive thoughts and prayers your way. In the meantime, cuddle with Nick and try to go over everything for the last several days with these symptoms. Sometimes it helps to write everything down and look for a pattern in them. You might come up with something that will help the doctors.

Poor little Nick! Those tests can be really scary for a little kid. I hope that all will be ok with him tomorrow. Will Steve be able to go with you tomorrow?

I see Kate got home before I did - she called me on my cell phone to let me know as she was on her way to the hospital. Now I have to go back to read and catch up....

Wouldn't that be great!?!?!?!?!

Hey Marti---did you hear this???

It would be great if:

I had a husband that would purchase the dining plan and two:

Until recently you couldn't purchase the dining plan with DVC, but I hear that's different now.

Oh Jen! I'm so sorry your treasure hunt didn't go as planned... you put so much effort into it too! At least DH was suitably sheepish about it and you now get to be excited together :yay:

Ugh. Well.... he knows, so we're enjoying the idea of being excited together! :teeth:

Otherwise -- Let's just say that the scavenger hunt didn't go as planned, as he got all grumpy about it :confused3 It's a long story, but he just wouldn't get into it. He was a serious party pooper! I think it was mostly because his last rotation is the month absolutely from hell, and he's been in a rotten mood ever since he found out he couldn't change it. He's driving to Georgetown (so...120 miles a day, on $3.00/gallon gas) for 12 hour shifts (so being gone for at least 14 hours a day) in a field he has no interest in.... not a happy place around here, to say the least :rolleyes1

We got about 1/3 of the way through the clues and puzzle pieces and he was so daggone irritating about it that I (after a minor tiff) just put the pieces together, made a little book out of it, and gave it to him that way. At which point he felt REALLY, REALLY bad... especially after seeing how many pieces there were, and knowing I had more planned.

I waited until the next morning to show him the rest of the clues, etc and tell him that I had other people involved as well. He felt even worse, but was over the brunt of it so now it's just in the past... and we're looking forward to the trip!

Don't worry -- I gave him an extra earful for the work you put into it, and he really WAS impressed by the clues. I'm sorry it didn't work out as well!

Jen, sorry it didn't go as planned, but you are going to have so much fun! I did a scavenger hunt once for John all over the town I lived in. at the end was me in my b'day suit. Now he was VERY excited about that hunt!

EEEwwwwwwww :rotfl2:

Paula, your dog is beautiful! And look -- you're a designer now! ;) that wasn't so hard, was it?

Sending prayers. I'm sure it is nothing serious, but it doesn't hurt to check it out. They may be very surprised to see his sinus' inflamed. Get a copy of the CT when you go. I do know how to read a head CT and you can describe stuff to me if it is going to take a while for them to get the results.

Hi, everyone,

I haven't been on since Thursday, but have been reading along as I can, and have been thinking of all of you! Here's some :grouphug: :wizard: for those that have been feeling ill or down. You guys had me :lmao: over some things, which I can use right now. :cheer2: for all those with trips planned. What I wouldn't give to escape to WDW right now!!!!

...

Thanks for letting me get that off my chest! Hope everyone's day is going better!

Thanks for checking in! I'm sorry that the assitant didn't work out, but it DOES sound like it's for the better, in the long run. I would hate for you to have to just babysit her all day, adding more work instead of lifting some! I hope your friend is able to make the summer a little more smooth for you, and that a new full-time assistant is in the picture ASAP! :wizard:

Absolutely... :grouphug:

ok - what's with all the fun and frolicks! I'm trying to catch up here!

I just pulled a complete Kate...

Logged on at page 1880 of 1901 and thought - cool 11 pages to catch up on...

Then couldn't work out why the end was sooo far away...

Doh! :rotfl:

So I'm back on 1890 and calling it a day as CSI has just started.

Have a great evening - see y'all tomorrow.

:wave2:

Denise-
I really, really like POR- a lot!!!!! And come on, I am a total princess princess:
I have always used WDW transporatation, but I agree with getting a car for a comfort zone if needed. (My DH spends 3 hours each day in the car commuting so he prefers not to drive when on vacation but to each his own :goodvibes ). We never had an issue with the buses, but we weren't there during free dining either so I am not sure how full the resort may get and what impact it would have on the buses.

The boat to DTD takes about 20 minutes. It runs fairly often at night and a little more sporadically during the day. Vicki- do you have better times for this? We never waited more than 10 for one last fall when going down there at night.

That being said, what is the price difference to just downgrade to a wing room at CR? (or is the $1800 already taking that into consideration). Do what is best for your family and will make everyone the most comfortable!

Kate- I am so sorry about Nick!! I am sure the tests are precautionary, but I will be thinking of him!! :wizard:

Tia- So sorry about your trip :( But at least you still have free dining in the fall, right? :grouphug:

Lindsay- It never ceases to amaze me how many people in the working world there are like that!!! I know I am a SAHM now, but I was definitely a 60+ gal back in the day. The right assistant is out there :wizard: that you find her/him!

Hi to everyone else!! I was at the mall food court today and Gloria Jeans was advertising some new caramel nut drink and the teaser was "We fit a turtle into a straw..." :scared1:
EWW!!!!!!!!

How would you get to early character meals? Take a taxi? Would that be the quickest route? since we'd be saving so much money, maybe rent a van for the week? Or just pay for a taxi those few times? I don't want to have to go the MK and then get a bus to the resorts or go to DTD to catch them.

How long is the boat ride from POR to DTD? Does it run fairly often?

We were at POR during MNSSHP last October for 10 days (during free dining). The resort is lovely & there is definately room enough for you 5 (We are 5 also & it was great). The landscaping is lush & the kids liked the ducks, frogs, & lizards walking about the place. We had a blast riding the surrey bike all around & the pool was fun.

All that being said, I thought the bus situation (for our time there) was horrible. We waited a long time for the buses to come in the a.m. The line..well there was no organized line per se but a mob of people trying to all get on at once. The most agressive got on first. We waited & ended up standing every single morning..The wait coming home was crazy. One night we were outside MK at closing. Everyone was tired & the POR bus line was so crowded it took 3 buses to come until we were able to board. We stood every night coming home as well. Some very lovely people did give up there seats for my kids which was a life saver at the end of the day. After the first few days of this we said next time we'd either stay where you can walk to at least one park or rent a car. That's why we chose BC this August..I like POR but unless I have my own car I wouldn't wait on those lines again.
Money is a huge-O factor for us too but the convenience is truly priceless.

If you have an early breakfast I would take a cab. Just go to the valet & they will call you one..very fast & efficient. The boat takes about 20 minutes or so from DTD ->POR. We did it a few times & waited no more than 20 minutes.

Just wanted to give you my thoughts & I hope your trip is very enjoyable.....JMHO

ETA: Alligator Bayou has the trundle beds. Building 14 & 15 are non smoking & right next to the food court/main building & close to the bus stop. We had building 14 & it was very easy to run over to the market for a refill on our mugs for coffee or soda. We had a standard view, ground floor which was just fine..I also have to say that the staff at POR are some of the friendliest we have come across at Disney. Since we were there during free dining, the foodcourt & Boatwright's were always packed but all the sit down places were crowded while we were there so it was not just POR.

If you have any more questions, feel free to post or PM me.

Port Orleans Vets! Need some advice. Which one is the one that will accomodate 5 people? Which buiding is the best? Water view or regular? Pros and cons with my kids? How are the buses?

If Rees has to have surgery and/or the court case, money is tight. May be a good idea to switch resorts. Please give me tons of good advice!
I'm not a vet but when we called they told us POR Aligator Bayou was the one that would accomodate 5. We have water view but I would also like to know if there is a specific building to request. Have you guys heard if you'll have to go to court?

I had a couple odd things happen this weekend and I wanted to get everyone's thoughts on the second one.

First-we saw two different proposals this past week. The first was at the Rockies game and was so sweet with both the girl and guy end up crying. The second they both end up crying also but different reasons. This one was at the Nuggets game on national tv the guy gets down on one knee, long proposal, beautiful ring...the girl runs off the court and the guy leaves the opposite direction dejected. Poor guy.

Second- this one kinda creeped me out afterward. We had a piano recital and one of the mom's of one of the young men who played came up and commented on how much Cassidy has turned into a young woman......talking the physical sense her, how she was getting the curves in the right places. :confused3 This woman and I are friends and I was so uncomfortable...felt like she was sizing Cassidy up for this young man. She did come back and go to mundane stuff. These two will be in marching band together next year. Would you have been creeped out? or am I really nuts?
I felt sorry for the guy just reading about it. To get turned down is hard enough but on National TV?
As for the mom that is kind of weird I mean I've never heard a mom talk about how a child has "filled" out. But maybe she just talks without thinking and thought she was complimenting her. :confused3

Thanks everyone for the kind words about Alyssa.

Off to soccer. If you could send some PD this way that Nicholas wins, he would be so greatful. They have only won one game so far.:guilty:
Alyssa looked darling. :goodvibes It looked like a nice time.
:wizard: for Nicholas' team that must be hard on them to be losing so much.

Then I just said the wrong one

Actually it's too bad that it doesn't have the trundle bed. I love POR but if I had young kids I would prefer POFQ. That is my only concern with recommending POR to Denise. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE POR but it is spread out. That is something that I love but I'm not sure would be a good thing if I had young kids.

I can't answer your question about early meals at resorts, as we didn't have any. I don't know what time the buses start running. Check out priceline for vans. Last I knew, they do it different for car rentals than airline tickets. You can find out the price before you agree to buy.

The boat ride from POR would prob be about a 1/2, and it stops at FQ on the way. I'm guessing it runs every 10-15 mins or so. We took it down there one evening and then the bus back.

Lindsay, I'm sorry that things didn't work out with your new assistant. Sounds like it's a good thing in the long run, though. You'd hate to be saddled with her when things got really rough!

What does this do to the Hawaii trip? I certainly hope you are still going to be able to go! You really need the down time!

I'm still planning to go. At this point, it leaves my parents in a lurch (it's their 2BR timeshare, and if we canceled at this point, that extra room would just sit empty), plus, the thought of getting away for a couple of days is the only thing keeping me going right now. I'll have HSIA so I can log-in every day to my office as necessary, plus my BlackBerry works on the island, so it's not like I'll be unreachable.

All the partners I work with/for have been very accomodating, so I can't complain there. They realize how stressed and stretched we are at this point. (I have one-of-a-kind job security right now!)
