The DDA Trouble Free Zone Part 7

Warning... This is a drive-by posting. I am now caught up and hopefully didn't skim the posts too fast last night as I was falling asleep at the computer. ;)

It took us 5 hours to pack everything up from Kristin's dorm yesterday. Well, it was already packed; just had to be carted down three flights of stairs and fit carefully into my car. The weather gods were kind to us and the rain held off until we got home last night with my car laden down with her life's important things. I have no earthly idea where they are all going to go in our house this summer! It certainly looks like all the things that were in her room from HS days are still there and there are boxes and suitcases and bins of things that still need to be brought into the house. I just don't know! But what I do know is that she will make those decisions, not me. As long as it is in her room, I don't care.

I am in a very reflective mood this morning. I think possibly since tomorrow is Mother's Day and this year I won't have my Mom to send flowers to or talk to or go see that I am transferring some of that emotion onto other things. Like... I cannot believe Kristin is now a college junior. She is halfway done with her first step away from home and it just does not seem possible. The career path she has chosen will probably take her far away from us for weeks/months at a time. Kathrin is an hour away now and easily accessible if necessary or wanted. But she is also talking about a move if her company opens a branch in a larger city. We are faced with the possibility that neither of our children will be close by, so I see myself through my Mom's eyes I think.

But, before you all think I am sinking into an emotional funk... We have finalized our summer travel plans and they do NOT include a WDW trip. None of us can stand WDW in the summer months. We are headed to Boston in June, the Outer Banks of North Carolina in July and New York City in August. Also in July I have the DC DDA meet and a Yamaha National Music Camp and Concert at Catholic University (also in DC). I am teaching composition and piano full time this summer too. So, not a lot of time for being reflective :)

I hope to be back on here after I am done teaching this morning and spending time with Bob and Kristin today. Kathrin is coming up for Mother's Day tomorrow so we will all be together. I can't wait! But, please be kind and don't post too much. I am fighting with Kristin for computer time since hers is not unpacked and set up yet. :rotfl:

Enjoy your day, ladies (and gentlemen!).

My middle name is Lynne, and when I was in my early 20's my best friend decided to change the spelling of my first name to Robyne. Thought it looked better. And to this day she stills adds that e. Which of course I don't mind, it is just when my named is spelled Robin that I hate. I have an aversion to the letter "i" I think. Emma's middle name is Elyse and everyone thinks it should have been Elise. And Molly should have been spelled Mollie.

ETA: My sister's name is Sara Anne. Most people spell her name Sarah Ann. My mom wanted her all 3 of her names to be 4 letters.
I share your aversion to an "i" too :)

My name should have been Claire - but Dad spelt it wrong on my birth certificate so I'm "Clare-without an i" when people are writing my name down!

If I someone writes to me at work calling me Claire I just don't recognise it as my name - they might as well call me Michelle! :)

Would you hate me if I told you it is 81 degrees here, and the sun is shining, and the kids are running through the sprinkler?

::yes::

we had three days of hot weather here and now it's gone back to cold and wet and grey... :sad2:

Ok - tea sandwiches?? :confused3 I assume they don't have tea in them and are called that as they are small sandwiches with the crusts cut off to go with your afternoon tea?

All our sandwiches look like that over here and we tend to call them by their fillings, ie cucumber sandwiches or cheese sandwiches...

Sorry it just struck me as funny seeing an english item not called by its english name :rotfl:

:rotfl2: Here's the description of what we had from allearsnet.com menu:

Buckingham Palace - Our traditional tea sandwiches, scones and jam tarts complimented by fresh strawberries and cream, or a selection of freshly baked pastries, along with your choice of tea. $17.50 per guest

No matter what we call they were really great. :teeth:

I'll have to upload photos of the sandwiches from the Earl of Sandwich. Those were awesome!

I agree that Taylor and Elliot outperformed him the night before - and honestly I think Chris did not have mass appeal - I think you either liked his style or you didn't - Simon told him that the best about him was that he didn't compromise and although I admire that - I think that his lack of growth and not going beyond his comfort zone in the end hurt him~

Those zizzlingers look really cool! I just had a look at eBay and they're selling the individual already zizzed princesses - so you know what you're getting. They have a few unopened ones too...might have to put in a bid :teeth:
Clare - I haven't made it to the post office yet - (I AM SO SORRY) but the upside to that is if you want me to pop some zizzlingers in there I can!

Did anyone else watch Saved by the Bell?!?!?

It always seemed to be on at my sorority house!! It was so odd to see sweet little Kelly become *****y Valerie on 90210!!!

I  saved by the bell... and 90210... don't remember Kelly being in the latter though... Although I watched 90210 before SBTB so that might explain it... off to find pictures...

ETA: couldn't find any - maybe she was on 90210 after I stopped watching it... :confused3

I loved saved by the bell...

the funny thing is, my friends and i will still watch the repeats, even though wehave seen them all by now..over winter, we had a snow day from college and my best friend brad came over and we watched them...

We've been taping The Amazing Race all season, but we've only watched the first episode.

Sometimes I'll watch the last five minutes of Days of our Lives and General Hospital, but I'm pretty bored with both of them right now. Looking forward to Anna's return on GH tomorrow though.

ok I watch waaaayy to much tv! I've got

Monday Smallville

Wednesday Nothing
Thursday Charmed Lost (which we download on Thurs am)
Friday AI show and results
Saturday CSI NY
Sunday Desperate Housewives

On top of that I watch Deal no deal Monday to Saturday (but we TIVO it and skip through most of it) Eastenders (soap) on Mon Tue Thur Fri and Hollyoaks (soap) Mon through Fri

That's about 14 hours  :faint:

I've also been tivoing Grays Anatomy (season 1) to watch once my assignments are done next week!

I'm glad I can skim over a page first before attempting to read it!

ER is still on my Tivo waiting to be watched! All I caught from previous posts is "crying" "Neela" and "have to watch season finale".

I'll watch it as soon as I get home and mark this page so I can review again!

I have a feeling I may be doing such skimming and bookmarking in the next two weeks as we head to the AI finale  :) :goodvibes

I think Chris will get a record deal soon and I will buy his CD because he sings the style of music I like listening too.

I don't think you necessarily have to win the show to be successful :goodvibes

Thanks for pm-ing me! I wasn't ignoring your post I've been catching up bit by bit all day and I always hit the back button straight after I've posted a message instead of looking to see who's posting in the "present" :rotfl:
