Hi Everyone!! We got back into town Sunday afternoon from our trip to the Southwest. We had a really great trip and loved everything that we did and saw. I can't believe I am over 400 pages behind, so there is absolutely no way I can catch up. Can anyone provide a summary of the last 12 days or so?

Our trip took us to Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon, Lake Powell, Bryce Canyon, Zion, and back to Las Vegas. Everything was perfect, until I threw my back out on the way home in the Chicago airport. So my back is killing me and it is hard to sit at the computer. I went to the chiropractor today, and it actually was way worse after. I had to call my DH to drive me home it hurt so bad.

Also I have offered to make autograph books for a co-worker who is leaving Sat. for a WDW trip. His daughters are 3 and 1 (celebrating her b-day while there). I hope I can do it in time, with all the catching up I need to do, and with the back problem everything is more difficult.

I will be trying to keep up again... I hate not being able to read all the old posts.

I wish I could say I am glad to be back, but vacation was a lot more fun than coming home to work, housework, back pains etc.

Ellen

Ok, Ellen, you have to tell me how you liked my state? Did you like Bryce and Zion? What about Lake Powell. Would you recommend Utah for a vacation spot for DDA'ers?

It's good to "see" you again! I've been wondering how your trip went. Good to have you back!

Jennifer, your friend and family are in my prayers.

Vicki, the shoes look great!

Heidi, you are quite the watch collector. They are really cool.

Just got home. Rees did well. Doctor is adding another med for his anxiety, but we are going to wait until after all the GI stuff is figured out. And she wants him off his ADHD meds for the summer to see how he does. Good appointment.

I am so glad to hear that Rees had such a good appointment. Continued prayers for the things to come this week. :wizard:

Hi everyone!

Crazy day here... this is the first time I have been able to check in all day. Did a quick skim of the last 10 pages or so...

The day started at 6:30am when we woke up to our roofer (11 of them to be exact). up on our roof ripping the entire thing off. They were supposed to come Friday to do the new roof but they came today instead!!! DH went out & spoek with them & they came today since the weather was good. we had 3 days of heavy rain here in NY this past weekend & more to come at weeks end they predict. Anyway, I get the kids to school & the little one to dance class. I notice she has like a blister or stye in her eye so I run her to the pediactrician who then sends us to a pediatric opthamologist (now she's still in her dance costume) That Dr. says is a reaction to bacteria in the eye & that the blister is an inflammatory reaction to the bacteria. Off we run to the pharmacy to get her eye drops & a lotion for the eyelashes to protect from future bacteria. Thanks heaven DH was home due to the whole roof thing & he picked the other 2 up from school. Ok run & make dinner,..boxed mac & cheese..6pm run my oldest to ballet. Back home by 7:15 I eat my ww's tuna cassarole thingy & then my oldest dd's friend comes over to watch American Idol. Put the younger ones to bed...9pm her friend (our neighbor) just left & my oldest just went up to bed. Whew..I am pooped.

And by the way gas is $3.59 a gallon here in NY. :scared:
Wow, I'm pooped for you! What a day!!

I've got a few pages to catch up on, but I thought you might like to see what I've been up to the last couple of days. My job for the travelin' Pals was to make them blankets. I did that yesterday and had a bit of material left that I thought would make cute sleep pants. I tried to find a pattern last night, but no luck in the 10" size for boy dolls. I ended up creating my own today and made these sleep pants. I need to locate more material in my basement in order to send a pair of pants and a pair of shorts with each one. These are what I have done so far.

Vicki - Since you have Mickey's schedule set, make sure that anyone with kids has the chance to get Mickey before I do. I think the kids will appreciate him more!

All set. Everyone (with & without) kids is getting Pal Mickey. Some with kids are getting him twice.

Jacob's birthday is November 8. Wow, they are really close.

It would be so cool if you could come out for some skiing. Like I said before, I don't ski myself, but I do enjoy hanging out in the lodge drinking hot chocolate. I also enjoy shopping in the factory outlet stores.

Let me know how those plans shape up and we'll try to plan a get together!

Those look good! How does the Berries and Cream compare to the DP Cherry Vanilla? I LOVE the new Coke Cherry Vanilla, but don't care for the DP ones. However, give me a Sonic Cherry Vanilla DP and I am in heaven. What does the Blak taste like? I haven't seen it either.

Yep, Bengalbelle has him in Feb. 2007! :rotfl2: I just added you to the list. There are three pals that will be travelin'. I might have to add a 4th!
Well if we are going that far in advance, put me down for April 28 - May 6, 2007 for Alyssa's 5th bday trip, please!

Honestly, I think people just want to get to know you better. We're that way about everyone who posts here. I've never heard the name grizelda before and it's not in either of my baby name books. What's the origin of it and does it have any special meaning?

OMG - my cousin lives in San Pedro - what a small world - I bet you know each other!!

You should find somewhere else to buy your gas though b/c I just talked with her this afternoon and she told me her gas is at about 2.85 a gallon there

my favorite place to go eat when we are there is Kokopelli's - do you like it?

I also like San Paulo's - have you eaten there? Her best friend was a waitress there in High School and still knows the owner so we can drink there for free!! :thumbsup2 Maybe that is why I think the food is so good ;)

Do you play golf - I have played at Paa-Ko before - what do you think of the course?

Where exactly do you live - I can't believe you live there - most people have never even heard of it!!!
hhhhmmmmm.......I'm not surprised!

Hi DDA! I have a whole lot of pages to catch up on, but I got the following in an email today and thought I would share, since it is sort of the way the DDA is - touching each other's lives.

One day, when I was a freshman in high school, I saw a kid from my class was
walking home from school.

His name was Kyle.

It looked like he was carrying all of his books.

I thought to myself, "Why would anyone bring home all his books on a Friday?

He must really be a nerd."

I had quite a weekend planned (parties and a football game with my friends
tomorrow afternoon), so I shrugged my shoulders and went on.

As I was walking, I saw a bunch of kids running toward him.

They ran at him, knocking all his books out of his arms and tripping him so
he landed in the dirt.

His glasses went flying, and I saw them land in the grass about ten feet
from him.

He looked up and I saw this terrible sadness in his eyes

My heart went out to him. So, I jogged over to him and as he crawled around
looking for his glasses, and I saw a tear in his eye.

As I handed him his glasses, I said, "Those guys are jerks.

They really should get lives.

" He looked at me and said, "Hey thanks!"

There was a big smile on his face.

It was one of those smiles that showed real gratitude.

I helped him pick up his books, and asked him where he lived.

As it turned out, he lived near me, so I asked him why I had never seen him
before.
He said he had gone to private school before now.

I would have never hung out with a private school kid before.

We talked all the way home, and I carried some of his books.

He turned out to be a pretty cool kid.

I asked him if he wanted to play a little football with my friends

He said yes.

We hung out all weekend and the more I got to know Kyle, the more I liked
him, and my friends thought the same of him.

Monday morning came, and there was Kyle with the huge stack of books again.

I stopped him and said, "Boy, you are gonna really build some serious
muscles with this pile of books everyday!"

He just laughed and handed me half the books.

Over the next four years, Kyle and I became best friends.

When we were seniors, we began to think about college.

Kyle decided on Georgetown , and I was going to Duke.

I knew that we would always be friends, that the miles would never be a
problem.

He was going to be a doctor, and I was going for business on a football
scholarship.

Kyle was valedictorian of our class.

I teased him all the time about being a nerd.

He had to prepare a speech for graduation.

I was so glad it wasn't me having to get up there and speak
Graduation day, I saw Kyle.

He looked great.

He was one of those guys that really found himself during high school.

He filled out and actually looked good in glasses.

He had more dates than I had and all the girls loved him.

Boy, sometimes I was jealous.

Today was one of those days.

I could see that he was nervous about his speech.

So, I smacked him on the back and said, "Hey, big guy, you'll be great!"

He looked at me with one of those looks (the really grateful one) and
smiled.

"Thanks," he said.

As he started his speech, he cleared his throat, and began

"Graduation is a time to thank those who helped you make it through those
tough years.

Your parents, your teachers, your siblings, maybe a coach...but mostly your
friends...

I am here to tell all of you that being a friend to someone is the best gift
you can give them.

I am going to tell you a story."

I just looked at my friend with disbelief as he told the story of the first
day we met.

He had planned to kill himself over the weekend.

He talked of how he had cleaned out his locker so his Mom wouldn't have to
do it later and was carrying his stuff home.

He looked hard at me and gave me a little smile.

"Thankfully, I was saved.

My friend saved me from doing the unspeakable."

I heard the gasp go through the crowd as this handsome, popular boy told us
all about his weakest moment.

I saw his Mom and dad looking at me and smiling that same grateful smile.

Not until that moment did I realize it's depth.

Never underestimate the power of your actions.

With one small gesture you can change a person's life.

For better or for worse.

I have a question about boys:

Cause I just don't understand them!!! Julia was never a physical child - she likes to run around and dance

but Nick - wants to fight and play star wars and jump off things and turns ANYTHING into a sword - he likes to hit - you know like Karate and stuff

He's not being malicious - that is just how he plays -

is this normal and if so how long is it going to last?

My boys definitely did all of this and more. I had to give away all the Power Ranger videos because they drove me nuts reinacting them. My boys and nephews still love to go for the plastic tub of guns, swords, knives (most of which were bought at WDW or the Disney Store) whenever they get tired of their video games, and they are 10, 10, 8 and 7.... On the positive side -- they are still willing to give their mom a kiss (while in the privacy of their own house).
