I booked my air today for my free dining trip August 31 - September 5. I usually don't like to book this early but was afraid that with gas prices the way they are, fares would only go up. I didn't do too badly.

Outbound from Westchester County Airport (about 1.25 hours from home) leaving 8:20 a.m. and arrriving at MCO 10:55 a.m. Homebound leaving MCO at 6:20 p.m. and arriving at Westchester 9:00 p.m. - both non-stop. $434.20 total for two of us.

Now that it's booked, it does seem more "real" somehow. This trip was not planned at all until free dining came out.

Have fun. :)

Hello all...

I am finally done packing!! We head out tomorrow at 5 am!! First trip w/out kids in a while....

I hope everyone has a good week...

Here is my favorite Pal Mickey picture so far...Pal Mickey visiting second grade. My Christopher is the one holding him. I got such a kick out of the teacher getting in the photo too! :teeth:

MVMCP TICKETS
and
MNSSHP TICKETS
both are on sale. And the times have opened up for LTT and CP. You can call now.
Thanks Denise! I'm officially going on October 5th! I was the guinea pig for a new agent. :rolleyes1: I trust them, but I'm definately double checking my tickets when they come in to the office!

I thought Nick was doing better but now he is throwing up - looks like we could have a fun night!

I got my report from the MRI tonight - it means nothing to me - I looked up what they said was wrong with me and it says surgery could go either way depedent on how severe it is and how the doctor typically likes to treat it - what concerns me most is the first time I saw the doctor he said surgery wasn't always a good option for this - so now if he has quit PT and thinks I might need surgery - how bad is it?

DH called and the CM told him the MVMCP dates aren't out yet and the tickets aren't on sale.

Just so I am not totally negative tonight - I got this costume for Julia at a garage sale for $5

she looks so cute in it and she knows it :teeth: which means she is pretty funny to watch! Nick being the ham that he is had to jump in a few pics - please excuse the diaper - he is so hot he doesn't want clothes on

Hi all. :wave2:

Another hectic day here. Thank goodness tomorrow is Saturday. The kids don't have anything until 3pm so we can sleep in (which in our house is only til 8am, but I'll take it!)

Today is day 10 of my 100 day diet challenge & I haven't fallen off the wagon. I am proud & amazed at the same time. I even got in a good brisk walk for 45 minutes this morning. I am hoping I can stay in this for the long haul..I want to look nice in my Disney pictures in August.

I haven't had a chance to read all the pages yet but I skimmed quickly & wanted to say to...

Denise,
Prayers for Rees :grouphug:

Kate,
Hope Nick's fever is gone. The kids are so cute. Thats a great garage sale find! $5!!?? Wow.

June,
I feel the same way..it's not official until I have the air booked!

Jo,
Good luck with the move.

Julie,
Sorry about your trip, but glad to hear you are going in December.

Deb,
Hope Colby is ok now.

Poohangel,
Sorry to hear about your SIL.

And for any of you here on the DDA that I missed I just wanted to say Hi & hope all is well.

Poor Nick, hope this passes soon. :wizard: :grouphug:

Hope you knee is not as bad as the doctor thinks it is. :wizard: :grouphug:

At what age would you let your kid go to a day camp and what age would you let your kid go to a resident camp? A camp where you don't know the adults but all have went through background checks, etc.

I went to day camp until I was in 3rd grade. When I was in 4th grade, I started going to camp for a week.

Our Girl Scout Camp here allows girls going into 2nd grade to come for the week. For awhile, we allowed girls going into the 1st grade but determined they got too homesick and they were still a little too young. I probably would not have allowed my girls to go to camp for the week until they were going into 3rd grade but they didn't get into Girl Scouts until they were older.

Good Morning Everybody;

Sorry I haven't been around lately, I have missed you guys SO MUCH!!!!

I am getting ready for Kyle's First Communion on Sunday, luckily the party is at my in-laws house but I still have a ton to do!!! I am right now as we speak in the middle of boiling eggs for deviled eggs, and potato salad, wish me luck!!! I have used all of your advice on how to make the "perfect" boiled egg and hopefully it will work!!!

Cody's care has been monumental!!! I could have never imagined all that we would have to do for him, it's like having another child!!!! He tore the top layer of sutures out over the weekend and we had to get those re-sutured again now we are back to square one as far as how long the stitches will have to be in for, he has to wear one of those hoods that looks like a lampshade 24/7 that is SUCH a pain, he has MANY meds. that we have to give him, and we are supposed to be giving him showers twice a day because he has developed a staff infection. On top of that I think he is depressed, he is SO mopey and he wants to get out of our room SO bad, we had to section off an area for him and put down lots of towels and sheets because he is still bleeding and draining a lot!!! Thanks for all of your well wishes and hopefully this recovery process will get better and he will be back to normal SOON!!!

Last night I took Carli to the pet store to get a hamster, she missed the one that we were watching for Kyle's class SO much!!!! She seems to do very well having a pet of her own, we made her sign a contract agreeing to take care of it , and do her chores around the house, and most importantly stay in her bed all night, this last one is SUCH an issue w/ her and I think having an animal in her room helps her sleep better!!! We'll see!!! She named her Maya Minnie Honey, but she decided that her nickname will be Cinderella :lmao: !!! The hamster is a baby teddy bear hamster and she is actually very cute!!!

I'm sure some of you all know this, but I had to cancel my trip w/ the DDA to Disney World!!! I was extremely depressed about this this week, I was SO looking forward to going and meeting everybody!!! I have never had a trip away from my kids before, and I can't tell you how much I was looking forward to getting away and having some fun with friends!!! Sadly though it just wasn't meant to be, after all that we paid in the last few weeks for Cody, and for this party this weekend, I just couldn't go in good conscience. It was becoming a MAJOR issue w/ Dave and I, Dave said I would have to choose between this trip and our families trip in December, obviously I had to choose the family trip. Hopefully in the future there will be another trip to go on w/ everybody!!! Thanks to all of you guys going on the trip for including me in your plans and also for understanding why I had to cancel, I hope I didn't mess up any of your plans and I know that you all will have SUCH a GREAT TRIP!!!

When I cancelled the airfare I couldn't get a refund but a credit towards another flight, so I went ahead and booked our airfare for December :woohoo: , so at least I have that to look forward to!!!!

I will let you all know how the party and everything works out, and I promise to get back to posting regularly next week once everything settles down!!!

:wizard: To anybody that needs it!!!!
:grouphug: To everyone else that may need it!!!!

Unfortunately I haven't been able to keep up to speed w/ everything that has been going on, so if I need to know anything let me know or PM me!!!

Julie

Julie, I'm so sorry you had to cancel your DDA trip, but of course sometimes things just don't work out the way we hoped for. I hope Cody is starting to mend, and that the party goes great. :wizard: and :grouphug: Congrats on the December trip, at least now you have that to look forward to.

Ellen

Kate, Julia is :goodvibes and poor Nick you can see how sick he is in the one picture.

Kate - I don't know what it means, either, but I DO know that you have to think positive and do whatever the doctor tells you, and that includes taking it easy! I know that's hard to do with two little ones, but you'd be surprised at how helpful Julia can be in doing little errands around the house to spare you a few steps - kids DO like to feel useful. Also, keep a basket at the bottom of the steps to put things in that have to go UP and another the top for things that need to go down, and either make just one trip, or let Steve do the carrying. Enlist any help that you can get so that you can let that knee get the rest it needs. I know it's hard for a person who can do it all to NOT do it all, but the use of your knee in the years to come is more important than a little dust, or even piles of laundry - send it out!! Then you can just sit around all day and play with the kids, design and DIS (well, at least sit around a little more). The most important thing is to have a positive attitude and not to try to outguess the outcome. Don't cross any bridges until you come to them. The doctor will tell you exactly what needs to be done when you see him next. Worrying about it all weekend will not change a thing, so just enjoy and THINK POSITIVE.

My 10 yr old (boy) announced yesterday that he thinks he needs an MP3 player or a mini ipod. It appears that his classmates have them.

Deb

That's what my 10yo sister said at Christmas. My mom ended up deciding to do so and spend a little more than she usually did because this is one of the few things that "all" of her friends have that Mom sees as okay for a kid. Cell phones, the clothes, etc Mom isn't going for. At least with this she can help weed out some of the too adult songs from the country music Rachel likes to listen to.

My house threw up on itself and DH  comes home tonight for two nights (yeah!). Along with the fact that I have a bur up my ___ (the area the sun does not shine), because I weighed in this morning only to find I did not gain or loose ANYTHING!!! So that made me a bit misaligned. :guilty: Then I went to Joann’s fabrics to get some stuff for one of my SSP and they wouldn’t take my coupon because the item was already on sale. (this is the first time that has happened; usually they take the item back to full price and then give you the coupon) AND the lady behind me tried to cut in front of me in line.

:grouphug: !! I hope that your day has improved. Enjoy your weekend with DH and your chance for some ODTT.

Yes, I know...EEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!!!!!!
