Then today one of the little boys, Ty, I babysit for, he is my DH's coworkers grandson, ended up in the hospital. He is 19 months and the info that I have gotten is that he has strep infection, I believe this is what I was told, of the skin.
The poor little guy! Prayers and pd for him so he heals quickly. Alyssa has had strep infections but hers have never gotten that bad. More just like a diaper rash. But we have prescription cream that we use at the immediate sight of one coming. Once you have one, they reoccur easily, and this is something she will have to deal with all of her life now. Especially if she ever has children. Did they have a hard time diagnosing the problem as strep? Is that why it got so bad? When we originally took Alyssa to the doctor, she looked at it and said diaper rash, so we treated accordingly, and it didn't start getting better. Then when we went back in she was seen by another doctor who immediately knew what it was and did a strep test. After researching it on the web and seeing graphic pictures of how bad it can be, we were very lucky. Keep us posted on how he is doing.

Oh we so need to stop this!! I didn't get a honeymoon either!! Unless you count a night at a hotel after being stopped by a cop. Let me just tell you that was the highlight of my wedding weekend.

I would love to go and one day renew my vows. In my dreams is where I will see it happen. :cloud9:

After the wedding, we stop for the night at a hotel and start getting ready for bed (me in the special night wear) DH goes into the bathroom and sees a cockroach so he kills it and flushes it.....down the commode. It overflows and we had to get dressed and move into another room :lmao:

Hi Kristen. We miss you! Hope to have you back and posting soon.

I've been meaning to post this for a couple of days, but just can't seem to find the time. I'm taking a 5 minute break from RL to do so!

This is just a good safety "reminder" for all of us. Consider this your DDA PSA for the day.

One of the lawyers I work with witnessed an attempted car-jacking Sunday afternoon. It happened at 2:30 on a bright and sunny afternoon, in a busy parking lot with plenty of people around, in an affluent part of Dallas. (For Marci and Jennifer - NorthPark Mall. For those that don't know Dallas, NorthPark is "the" mall in Dallas, and is adjacent to one of the wealthiest parts of town.)

My friend was coming out of Nordstrom's, walking to her car, when she observed a girl fall out of an Infiniti G35 parked across the aisle from her. She then saw a hand reach down to attempt to pull the girl back into the car - the girl fought like he**, got up off the ground, and ran and literally jumped onto my friend. The car squealed out of the parking lot. My friend had to literally carry the girl back into Nordstrom's, and was with her for the good rest of the afternoon as they gave statements, etc.

My friend said the girl was very petite, obviously driving a nice car, was early 20's, and was alone. The people that attempted to kidnap her were TWO WOMEN and one man, all in their early 20's as well. They held a knife to her throat, and my friend said the girl had a bruise on her throat from the pressure of the blade. Thank goodness she had the moxy to fight back. The police are supposing that they were going to take her back to her home (they were purportedly looking up her address from her driver's license) to rob her, and/or take her to an ATM machine to have her get cash. From there, who knows.

This is so alarming, as I know I continually think that I'm invincible as long as I practice common-sense judgment. However, I know that could have just as easily been me walking out of Nordstrom's Sunday afternoon (shoot, I was almost at that mall that day!), and I just hope I would have ended up as lucky as that girl to escape with her life.

PLEASE TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF OUT THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lindsay -- thanks for the info on this! It is so very scary! I'm always so distracted by the 12 other things I need to get done on my list as I am walking to my car, that I don't pay nearly enough attention. Especially when it's during the day and at Northpark. I normally only worry if it is night and a not so great part of town. I'm so glad you posted this -- it is an excellent reminder to ALWAYS be aware of your surroundings.

I would call and see if they will change it - we called and questioned when this happened to me -

you should get at least one accident forgiveness!
Kate,
congrats I was just skimming a few pages while I unwind from work. I hope Nick is feeling better.

Tammi,

I really don't think that this is strep, as when Molly was a baby, she had a diaper rash that did not go away. It was there for 5 months. It ended up being an allergic reaction to the ARA component in the formula. This looks nothing like what she had and our dr thought it was a strep infection. What it looks like is a really really bad pimple. The And it is just the one spot. He had one on his belly last week that came and went away pretty quickly. His grandma said it was contaigus but that some kids are more prone to it. So maybe it is. We will know more tomorrow. I am not sure about the diagnosis and the dr. From what I get about the dr is that they took Ty 2 weeks ago as he had these bumps on his belly, looked like chicken pox, and Ty threw such a fit that the dr just gave the dad a cream and said 2x a day. Did not tell him what it was. The parents are in their early 20's so I think they don't know the right things to ask for and just take the drs word. So I really have no idea. I just pray that it gets better quickly. He is the cutest little guy with a smile to melt your heart. Thanks for the prayers and PD.

Can I ask a favor of anyone who has photoImpact & has a spare moment :teeth: I just need a date changed on one of the designs I made. Please pm if you can help, Thanks!

Marci --

I was out and about visiting some elementary schools today, all of which had received Grants for Innovative Teaching through the Junior League of Dallas. One of the schools was off 45S and MKL Blvd.

I saw an off ramp to Kaufman on my way! How much further is it to Kaufman from there?

Jennifer

Hi, Jennifer. I'm about 30 more miles from there. That ramp goes to old South Central/Hwy 175. It's a straight shot to Kaufman from there.

BTW--I'm sure you already know this, but that area around MLK is very rough. There are some great people around there, but also a lot of people to be wary of.

Where you were is one of the roughest parts of town.

I have tears streaming down my face as I type this. Can I just tell you all how wonderful this group of women and men is? I'm a little stressed (to put it mildly). Get home from Karate, and there are 2 packages on my front porch from Jennifer (Tink2020) and Marci~! The kids open them up, and our house looks like a Disney toy store!!!!!!!!!!! Rees will take the DVDs with him to the hospital tomorrow. They already had a snack with their new goblets, and those were their first Disney pins. I told them we'd get more and trade at Disney. They love the stickers and watches, and are wearing them right now. And I have the CD in playing in my laptop.

I cannot tell you in words how deeply you both touched my heart. For people on this board to care so much about 'strangers' is just unheard of today when our world can be so uncaring and cold. My children are absolutely thrilled with their presents. So to both of you (and the rest of the DDA who DAILY show compassion, buy Crocs, Culy Wurleys, send cards, flowers, emails, calls, PMs, gift baskets to fellow DDAers) I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart. For someone to care so much about my children is, indeed, the greatest act of friendship and love that you could ever show me. God bless you both and the rest of the DDA. God has already blessed me many fold by allowing me the honor of meeting you all and calling you my friends.

All my love to you all.
Marti and Jennifer (tink2020) you ladies are awesome.
Denice I hope everything goes well this weekend for Rees. :grouphug: :wizard:

Glad to hear your dd is feeling better!

At 5:30 am we heard Nick sobbing - Steve found him on his way down the steps and very disoriented - he brought him into bed and I didn't even have to take his temp to know he had a fever! He refused any medicine and fell asleep immediately (Nick always refuses meds so the Doctor has told me as long as he is able to sleep and is drinking I can let the fever go as long as it doesn't go too high)

Well, the computer gods were obviously not listening to you.

I got all set up to do my presentation, and was taking notes on the other student who was presenting, when all of a sudden my computer shuts down. Completely. It wasn't the electricity, because the lights stayed on and the TV in the other room was on; just the computer. I panic, turn the computer back on and, as fast as my fingers can, I log back on to the University site. I calm down as I realize the other student is still presenting, so I take a couple of deep breaths, and....yup, you guessed it, the computer shut down again. I repeat the above steps, with an added emphasis on panicking, get all set up again, and the computer shuts down again.

This time, I know I'm missing my turn to present, so I grab my cell phone, and call the professor. He's understanding, and agrees to help me record my presentation tomorrow so he can put it on the Discussion site, and I won't be out any grade, since it's not my problem.

Let's just say it's not the way I wanted it to go, but oh well! Life goes on, right! Someday I'll laugh about it. Well, I'll probably laugh about it tomorrow morning, but right now, I'm just flummoxed! :confused3

Marti :grouphug: for your family. Hope the headache goes away.
Kristin good to see you posting.
Becky so sorry for work and that awful male.
Hope the sick kids all get better soon.
Nite all. I might get to see you all tomorrow if not I will see you sat.

So I really don’t want to post about my last week as it will probably bring me to tears again but I feel I need to update my DDA family and also to get some of these things off my chest to perhaps reduce my stress level. Last time I was on the Disboards was last Tuesday morning, except for briefly last night and I got kicked off.

We were married on April Fools Day. John killed a dog with our car on the way to the hotel after the reception. Got to the hotel (3 hour drive) and they had a huge convention and nowhere to store our wedding basket with all our food from the reception (was supposed to be a refrigerator). That night was the Spring Time Change. We forgot and overslept and missed our flight. It was an exciting start. Disneymoon at the Poly was wonderful, though. And our life since has been just as magical and wonderful.

Well, what did you expect when you chose April 1st? :rotfl2: At least it makes for a great story to tell your kids.

Denise -- I'm so glad the package arrived and worked its magic. Rees has had to go through much more than any child should have to. I know B-K and Davis suffer when he does, so I wanted them all to have a distraction. I meant to do this back when they got their tubes, but didn't get my act together. I'm saying special prayers for you all for tomorrow and the acidic diet weekend.

Isn't that what Sisters (Gamma Phi) as well as friends (DDA) should do for one another? Support, protect and love.

Jennifer (Tink2020) -- when my kids say something at the same time, they say Jinx -- you owe me a soda. So I'm saying to you, "Jinx -- you owe me a soda," and I hope we get to enjoy one together one day.
