So what's everybody doing tomorrow for Easter???

Julie

Emma and I will be headed to the Sonrise service tomorrow, 6am. Then we will come home and find out what the Easter Bunny left them. My aunt has a huge get together at her house, so that is around 2pm. There will be an egg hunt and it is so much fun. I think there are around 20 kids or so. For once the weather looks like it might be nice, it has rained I think for like the last 3 years on Easter Sunday.

I made the tie dye cupcakes for dessert tomorrow. Along with some salsa and dips to bring tomorrow. Hope everyone has a great day.

Hi All - my typical random drive by posting:

Guess what we made today?? The tye die cupcakse - thanks Dawn!!!! While I know you posted it, I couldn't get Kristine out of my mind! Matt absolutely loved doing it !

I have another Easter tip that we just learned this year - I'll never dye another egg using the dye and vinegar. Matt's second grade teacher gets credit for this one: Using a pin, puncture the ends of a raw egg, blow out the guts (Matt LOVED this part) and then decorate using Sharpie markers. We bought a pack of 18 for about $14 at Target and it has some cool colors. Use a hot glue gun to attach a ribbon to the top and you can hang them. Keep them after Easter for next year in an egg container. So much better than trying to boil them (OK OK I didn't do a great job with that either Julie!) and you get to keep them year after year. I'll include pictures tomorrow. But they come out cool!

I can't wait to see them!

We had a huge family egg hunt today, and it was so fun, even though it was raining. We invaded my SIL's house (read; mansion) and hid eggs and candy all over the house. The kids came home with baskets loaded to the brim.

When we got home, Katie started to crack an egg, beautifully colored by a niece, and imagine her surprise when it turned out RAW! This egg had not been cooked AT ALL! We tossed it in the garbage, and she grabbed another egg out of her basket. Same thing. By now, she's getting really upset, and decided to give up on the eggs for a while. It will be interesting to see how many of the 2 dozen eggs that came home with us are raw. All I can figure it that my nephew (4 years old) really wanted to do more eggs than mom boiled, so he helped himself to the eggs from the fridge.

Happy Easter/Passover, everyone!

Whew I am SO relieved!!! I bought a new scale today at Target, when I weighed my self it was up by 5lbs from when I went to the Dr. on Thursday. I was kind of depressed about it because I was super motivated after going to the Dr. and seeing my progress. I just went in and looked at the scale again and realized that it was actually starting on 10lbs instead of 0. So I adjusted it and now it looks like I lost another 3 lbs!!!!! :cool1: :cool1:

I feel So good just to finally be losing weight, I was in a rut for a while and could not get motivated. I also bought 2 new dresses today. I really liked both of them a lot. I was trying them on again when I got home. I thought that the one was a little snug, but decided to keep it anyway because it was SO cute. I thought it was a 14, that's what size I am currently in, I thought that I checked it for sure. But when I looked at the tag when I got home it was actually a size 10 :cool1: :cool1: !!!

Sorry to ramble I am just really psyched!!!!

That's awesome. :cheer2: :cheer2:

I made ours today. I did a 13X9 cake instead of cupcakes, and it took about 5 minutes longer than the recipe stated. I wonder if the rum changed things? I wouldn't know. Let me know how it turns out! Mine smelled heavenly, and boy do I wish I could eat some. I'm being very good tomorrow, though.
I made the 13x9 too but it went longer than 5 more minutes. Maybe 10?

I had a small piece already. I couldn't taste the rum, but it had lots of lime flavor. Brian and I both liked it.

Have you seen this?

Never saw the website. Bill taped the cnn segment...I told him he can't show it to her...it shows them microwaving them..freezing, smashing...I am afraid she'd be traumatized for life!!

Those are SO cute, I love them!!! I have to make those for sure!!!

I absolutely LOVE peeps, it is my absolute favorite Easter candy!! Tonight Kyle was making up a song about the 12 days of Easter (like the 12 days of Christmas) and I was helping him think of things to say for the days. For the sixth day I said 6 purple peeps, a couple of minutes later he started gagging. I asked him if he felt sick and he said no I just don't like peeps and just the thought of them is making me gag :guilty: !!! I can't believe he is my son and doesn't like peeps!!! Although Dave only likes them if they sit out and get stale and hard, I thought it was weird when he told me this but they are really good this way!!! Although I don't think that Kyle felt good at all tonight but didn't want to tell us that because of it being Easter tomorrow!!! Hope he's better in the morning!!!

Stale Peeps are the best. Hope Kyle feels better tomorrow.

So what's everybody doing tomorrow for Easter???

We will get up and go to church to 9:30 mass, usually we find our baskets before we go to church but I'm trying to talk the kids into waiting until we get home. They are not really digging that idea too  much, it is just so rushed in the morning and then they don't want to leave so that they can check all of their loot out. We'll see who wins!!! I was going to try to send them on a scavenger hunt for their baskets in the morning and give them clues as to where they are, but I'm not feeling very creative tonight, maybe next year.

After mass we go over to our church's convocation center for brunch w/ some of my MIL and FIL's friends and their family's. Everybody brings something, it is a lot of fun!!! They have been doing this forever, since Dave was a kid. First they would go to each others houses then they outgrew that, we then used to go to a restaurant but we outgrew that and needed something bigger since their is now about 65-70 people that go, so now we go to the convocation center which is very convenient and the kids have tons of room to run around. We have an egg hunt there for kids.

We will then come back here so that the kids can hang out and play w/ their stuff. We stop at my parents for a little bit (we already celebrated w/ them last weekend). Then we head over to Dave's Aunt's house for dinner, unfortunately this is the small year at her house and there will only be about 25 people there. It is SO much more fun when everybody is there. At my in-laws house for Thanksgiving it is now up to about 55 people and still growing, I love these traditions because growing up I had such a small family and they weren't very big on traditions.

I'm SO tired I feel like I have been running all day long, which I have been. I left the house at 8 A.M. and I have been pretty much going ever since....

I hope everybody has a wonderful Easter, and that the Easter Bunny is good to everyone of you!!!!

Or your turtles :rotfl2: !!!!

Julie

We told our kids that the Easter Bunny will be taking their baskets, so not to look for them in the morning. He will fill the baskets and then return them while we are in church. That way, I can get the kids all ready for church without having to fight them. It also means less chance of chocolate stains on the new Easter dresses. We have church at 11:00 and then we're coming home for dinner, just the 6 of us. It should be fun! While I'm getting dinner on the table, the kids will hunt for their baskets, and play with their loot! Then we'll settle down for a movie and dessert. Spring break starts the next day, so it will probably be a late night for us.

I am still packing up easter baskets...have to hide eggs too.

Tomorrow is our anniversary...hard to celebrate with Easter and all...we went out tonight to a french restaurant...it was the place we had our wedding reception...it was very nice. I am tired from all the food...I can tell he has "plans" for later :rolleyes1 .

We did our anniversary last night....as we didn't see any of each other on the 13th!! We went for seafood...loved the appetizer not really my meal....but we shared a Mai Tai(yes, I said shared) and were quite tipsy the rest of the night. Saw the Pink Panther.....was worth the $1.50 for the ticket that's about it.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

how many years?

Very cute. Did you use a pastry bag and tip or a squirt can of icing to make it look like grass?

Well, the Easter Bunny has done her duty and now my eyes are barely staying open. So good night all. Happy Easter everyone. Happy Passover as well. I forgot to say a few days ago that I hope you all had a nice Sedar the other night.

Oh yeah, all of this turtle talk reminds me that I have to give Phil his Easter present. And I do mean REAL almond and chocolate turtles. Maybe I should have thought ahead to the DDA reaction before buying them.

Good night!
