:wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: Hope that's enough to get you started - Glynis I think you are one of the most kind and generous people that I know.

In fact you all fall in that category - I'm not sure if its the DDA that struck lucky, or its just that Americans in general are much more kind hearted and willing to help out people than the English seem to be. Don't get me wrong I know lots of nice people but you guys always seem to be going the extra mile for someone with no sign of any personal gain in sight, other that it makes you feel good to do it.

So here's some :wizard: for all of you - you make me proud :grouphug:

awwwwww  and aren't you the one who sent the Curley Whurleys to Marti??? :goodvibes

My problem with cleaning is, once I start I have to get everything perfect. So I can't just do 15 minutes here and there. It drives me crazy because once I start I am on a mission but I never seem to have enough time to get it right once I start. So I am afraid to start because then that is all I will do until I get it how I want it. So most times I don't end up cleaning and just live with the clutter. :confused3

Becky

I was exactly the same way which is why my house was a disaster for years. I'm still too much that way because it is why my office isn't completed yet. I keep starting and end up making it look worse than when I started (though I have made progress).

That is why FlyLady and Sidetracked Home Executives are so good. Most people are the same way. They help you realize that a little at a time is the way to get it done. It REALLY works. It takes months (& sometimes years like me) to get things done enough to see the long term benefit. However, now that the house is pretty much organized 15 minutes is long enough for me to get any of my rooms in decent order.

she can't be PM'd and she turned off her e-mail capabilities and her site is removed. Is there a reason - would I be bothering her and she doesn't want to do this anymore? I don't want to open a wound here. I just loved her cruise design.

She redesigned her business website not too long ago. Maybe when she did that the page disappeared or got protected without her realizing it. I'm not really sure. Hopefully someone can help.

As for a tent you might need one of the miniature store models they use to show what the tents look like. Or they sell them for the 18 inch dolls, like the American girl dolls. They also sell sleeping bags for those dolls, but I am not sure if PM would fit because of being wider.

L.L. Bean has a L.L. Bear that has rain jacket, sleeping bag, boots, tent, back pack, etc but I am not sure if it would be the right size.

I always take quite a few stuffed animals when I go to camp for the girls who forget or are homesick.

Becky

Ooh. Thanks for the info on the L.L. Bear. I'll have to check him out and see. I've been told the Build-a-bear tent & sleeping bag are nice for them. The closest one to me is 2 hours away but the girls & I go twice a year for clothes shopping in that area.

Sounds like everyone had a pretty good weekend - I'm glad that no one was affected by all the nasty storms around. I stayed up way too late catching up on the thread last night, and here are some general wishes to go around to everyone - :cheer2: :grouphug: :wizard:

We had a busy weekend, as DH's brother and family came to visit us. My 2 nieces, who are 4 and 2, are quite something. We took them to the aquarium which was a lot of fun, and of course, I had someone other than DH to talk about Disney with! :goodvibes They are going to make their first trip to the World with us next December, and are already talking about it! :cheer2:

Here is a pic DH took of them at Thanksgiving - my SIL has all of the pictures on her camera from the aquarium.

Lindsay they are too cute! I love their little dresses...they look like such little ladies.

I really need to get back to work but wanted to send a few notes first:

Glynis-my thoughts and prayers are with you and the 3 other families.

Dumby-Congrats on the house. :wizard: Hope things improve for your DS.

Deb-good luck with party plans.

Amy :wizard: on your house sale.

Denise-sounds like substitue teaching would make your schedule match the children's better than your current job.

:wizard: :grouphug: to all I'm missing.

OK...lunch is over-must go to work....

Denise --

speaking from personal experience, you cannot beat teaching as a second income and a time-factor with little kids. If you LOVE to teach then I say go for it! And I agree that many school systems are so needing of teachers that they are allowing people to become certified while they are teaching full time.

If you decide to wait to teach full time until you are already certified, you might want to look into substitute teaching at the kids' school. (I did that for 2 years before taking the job I have now.) Hours are the same as theirs and you won't have to do lesson plans right away :teeth:

ETA: I should have kept on reading before I responded :rotfl:
I have thought about doing this in 2 yrs, when I retire, for a second income. I already have a BA. Elin, do you know what I would need to do or who I would talk to for our county? Can you point me in the right direction?

Vicki-I just can't go to back to work without first saying I loved your Pal Mickey photos. I should post a photo of a tent a friend made me for Beanie Babies. Its real simple to make-you could just make it big enough for Mickey.

OH...and I love all these old photos. I should post a photo of Pooh from 1996. When Lizzy saw it she asked me why he looked so different. I didn't know what to say as she believes Pooh IS Pooh. But she figured it all out. He was MUCH younger then and now he's a grown up Pooh. :teeth:

Now...I really MUST work!

Now I think that I have a twin! Though you are probably young enough to actually be my daughter. That is my problem in a nutshell. If I can't do it "right," I just don't do it. Believe me, around here every little bit would help. I need to get out of that mindset!

Denise -- I think that sounds wonderful! I have often kicked myself because I didn't go in to education. I always loved school and I would love to have the same schedule as my children. Unfortunately, it would take a lot of certification now since I'd also have to work on all the classes for special needs students in order to work in the school with them, as well as the general certification.

You did not waste your degree -- you use your science/nursing knowledge everyday with your beautiful figs! And you might want to go back in to it one day when the timing is right.

I like Lindsey's advice, because even though you have taught pre-school, being in the school system might not be what you want to do after all, so you can get a taste, have "face" time and make sure that it is where you want to be. Plus you have flexibility if something important is going on so you can turn down the days where you have conflicts/need to study/have sick kids etc.

Good luck in your decision, and here's a :grouphug: .

This is an example of why I love this group so much! So many of us think so much alike. I wanted to catch up on the thread before posting to see if others had already said what I wanted to. Well, the main thing I wanted to say is Education is never wasted. Marci beat me to it. Any education a person can get makes them a better person.

I ALWAYS wanted to be a teacher as far back as I can remember. When I graduated from high school, my principal & teachers talked me out of it because teachers were overworked, underpaid and under appreciated in their terms. Also, there was a lack of jobs for teachers at the time. My parents thought I should get a different degree and if I wanted get the teaching certification on the side (I took that as not being supportive). So, I didn't go into it. In my personal life, that is my being regret. Especially when 4 years later when I would have been graduating, I could have moved pretty much anywhere in the United States and gotten a teaching job within 1/2 hour because there was such a shortage of high school math/science teachers. They were actually paying people to go to school for it then to help ease the shortage.

Both my girls are seriously considering going into teaching. Katrina is in college as undecided but is trying to get into the school of Education. Becky graduates in a year.

I am off to learn about Bees. Emma's kindergarten class is headed to an outdoor education center next week for an overnight trip. All the parents have to teach an activity on one day and then be a chaperone the other day. My activity is bee keeping. Not sure I feel so confident in being around bees. But I guess it is better than having to row a boat.

That sounds like a ton of fun!! Enjoy your learning!!

Good morning DDA!!!

I had a power packed weekend to tell you all about, but first I have a few things to get done. I also have just about 100 pages to read, so I will be doing so of and on all day.

I hope everyone is having a good Monday so far.

I was just going to ask if we had heard how your weekend went!!

Hope all is at least calmer in your house now!

Kate, thanks for the information about Rule 240. That is very good information to have! We are flying USAir.

You could also ask your twin :rotfl: to go pick you one up from BAB and send it to you!! My girls would love an excuse to go into BAB if you want your tent earlier.

I just may take you up on that! I don't think my DH will let me use that as an excuse to go on an early shopping trip!

I didn't know she couldn't be PMd. Kate or anyone else know if Midnite would share the design?

I am a little worried...I haven't seen her around in awhile. I have sent her an email to her personal email address.

I wish that I could say it is an American thing. I was drawn to the DDA because of the giving people that are here. I never, and I mean NEVER EVER intended to chat on-line with strangers. I've read boards for years (since I'm in the computer industry) but was never drawn to join until the DDA. It seemed like such a caring, happy place. I have never found it anywhere else. Though, I do have a couple of friends that I've found that share thiswith me but they are too busy in their lives to get together much. As Becky has found with her Girl Scout troop, there are parents that aren't even willing to give time for their kids let alone expect them to give for strangers. That is why I thank the Lord everyday for this wonderful place!!!
