UPDATE on SIL

The Dr told her that there is a 37% chance that the chemo will work, she will do chemo for at least three full months. If after 6 months ( I was told the chemo can stay in your system for three extra months) it hasn’t done it’s job then she will have a less than 50% chance to live.

She has started her chemo on a 24hr drip and they will test her in a few days to see if it has started to work.

That is all I have for now. DH sends his thanks for all the PD and prayers from you all. He is still in aaaww how you all care for people you have only met over the net.
Thanks for the update Paula. Sending more :wizard: and prayers your way.

Kristine -- I thought about you last night. While sitting at my younger son's baseball game, another mother was talking about how she had sent her husband to WalMart for a number of items, one of them being sand to put in the sandbox before the big easter egg hunt they had last Sunday. The husband came back with BLUE sand. Needless to say, blue was everywhere -- all over the kids, their clothes, her house etc.

I did not chime in with your blue issues.... :thumbsup2

:rotfl2: Too funny!

I tried Tammi's tye dye easter eggs...that didn't go too well for me either! :teeth:

What?? A Tinkerbelle meal? How'd I miss that? I only heard about the Toy Story meal which still hasn't materialized. My girls love Tink..that would be great!
Yes, there was talk of it being at 1900 Park Fare, but since the Toy Story thing never happened, I doubt this one will either.

Glynis and I have a request!!!

We respectfully request ALL designs be done with respect to the ORIGINAL park and LOVE of Walt Disney. The words “Disneyland Resort” will replace all WDW Resorts wording at the bottom of ALL designs. After you WDW people do the designs in your park of course.

Now I just talked with Walt and he said that would be the Disney thing to do.

This message was written by a woman who is lacking in good coffee today and does not truly express the thoughts of Glynis. She was just dragged into it because she is a west coaster as well.

I'm going to search on the dining thread, but thought some of you all may have some info on this.....has anyone heard anything regarding the rumored Tinkerbell meal?

I havn't heard anything since the rumors started a few months ago. I did however read a comment by someone on another board that a CM in the parks had hinted to them that Tink may be available for meets when the movie based on the new books comes out. It think that is supposed to happen sometime next year so I am wondering if a new character meal might now come with it.

School House Rock is awesome!! Cassidy did that as a grade musical in 3rd grade. Both girls love the old school School House Rocks....that newer version is stinky!

We love School House Rock. That is one "Disney" DVD (since that's where I bought it) that I can get Phil to watch willingly.

Thank you for keeping us updated. I will continue to pray for your SIL and your whole family.

Pal Mickey on vacation sounds like a great idea. I was going to do a mascot exchange or flat Stanley/Stacey with my Brownie troop this year. But after researching it I decided not to because I knew my girls could not do a whole year without having anything back from their mascot or or doll. Instead we exchanged postcards with other troops across the United States and abroad.

For those of you thinking about doing a pal Mickey swap, exchange or whatever. I have some suggestions but you may do whatever you want with them.

Instead of just having one being sent, since it seems like there are multiple people interested send out multiples. You can either exchange among the people who are sending out Pal Mickey's or you could send them to different people.

As for having a Pal Mickey specifically for Walt Disney world, instead of mailing him to different people, I would try to keep him on WDW property.

You can do this two different ways. The first would be to meet up with the next DDA he is going to be staying with and you can pass him on that way.

The other would be to have Pal Mickey have a box or a suit case as a permanent home. When you are getting ready to leave you ask guest services to either pass it on to the next hotel or store it at the hotel until the next family arrives. Label it who it is for there length of stay, where they are staying, put you contact information on it, etc. This will only work if the next person is arriving soon and if you are all staying on property.

Well, we just got back from the viewing for my neighbor's son! Due to the head trauma it was a closed casket. It was so hard to watch the family. Connie looks so tired and sad. There were so many people, all I could do was hug her and tell her I was there for her. My heart just goes out to the youngest 2 sons. They have really been through the wringer the last few months.

Thank you all for the prayers and pixie dust. It's amazing how much comfort can be felt when so many people are praying for one common goal. I've been so happy to include you in my prayers, and now I know what it's like to be on the receiving end. I know we say this all the time, but there is so much power on the DDA thread! You all keep me sane, and so very happy!

Well, the funeral is tomorrow, and I have to go make a batch of rolls and funeral potatoes for the luncheon for the family after the graveside service. I'll check back in as I can.

:grouphug: to you all!

I am so sorry to hear of all this. I will pray for the family and you.
It's interesting, we think we are done with bad times and bang, more just comes a long.

It sounds like the ceremony and party were all very nice. Happy retirement to your BIL.

Is Katie staying at Give Kids the World? If so and they have any questions, let me now and I'm sure that I can find the answer. We visited the Village in December and it is amazing! Another group that I am on has adopted GKTW as it's group charity and there are several people who had visited and worked there several times before.

I don't know all their travel plans, they are being a bit quiet about things. They are just trying to keep things low key so as not to upset Katie. The more positive they keep things, they feel she does better.
Any info youwant to pass on, I will print up and give it to them when I give them the shirts I am making.

I know what you mean about the flag folding ceremony. We had that for my husband's funeral. 21 gun salute. The whole nine yards. When the soldiers came to give me the flag, I had them present it to his mother. She gave him life, I felt she should be honored at his death....

I am sorry your lost your DH. I must say I don't know if I would give up my flag. I admire you for giving your MIL the flag.
What service was your DH in?

Thank you so much for all your kind words. I get all teary-eyed every time I look at one of Mickey's favorite lounging spots and trying to fall asleep was tough, because he always slept on my legs. He was such a sweet kitty. Kevin and I rescued him from the Target parking lot in August 1999 when we were returning a broken item from our wedding registry. He was the smallest, dirtiest orange and white hairball, but he was our first "baby."

Here's a picture of me, Alyssa, and Mickey, taken a couple days after we brought Alyssa home from the hospital. You can see, Mickey was no longer small!

Thanks again for your condolences. I'm taking Alyssa to an activity at our community center, but I'll be back at naptime to finally respond to everyone else (I even took notes! :) )

Amy :)

What a wonderful picture. I am sorry for your loss.

Speaking of kids tv shows, how about The Electric Company. I so wish they had something like that on tv now for kids, instead of just cartoons. It would really help Nicholas with his phonics.

All together now.....
CH - IN CHIN
CH - AIR CHAIR
CH - IP CHIP

etc, etc......

First it's the 80's, then it's kids and weddings, now it's tv shows when I was little. People.. I can't keep up with all these trips down memory lane. But thank you, they sure are fun!

Aw...he looks like such a good kitty.

Also, let me just say that you look so skinny, just a few days after delivery. I should hate you for that. ;)

I noticed that "illusion" in that picture too...seriously, that was a photography trick or something! I was a size 8 before I got pregnant with Alyssa and I was still a size 14 six months after I had her. That's why I'm trying to be more careful this time around!

And, they just released an Electric Company DVD. I'm not sure if it's a "best of" or what, but that was one of my favorite shows too!

Amy :)
