The DDA Trouble Free Zone Part 4

I can tell that today is going to be a good day. How you ask. I only had 4 pages to catch up on this morning :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: . Colby hasn't thrown up again since last night so I got a decent night's sleep. He says that his belly ache is hungry this morning though :rotfl: :rotfl: He often refers to his belly as his belly ache or his yummy tummy :rotfl: . I do have an extra kid today though. My neice Summer also had the stomach bug last night and she kept her dad up all night. Her mom is in Vegas for the week on a girls trip. My Dad offered to take her today, but she wanted to come to aunt Debbie's because I have better medicine :thumbsup2 . I haven't given her anything as she seems ok to me. Oh well hopefully it was just a fast moving virus that is out of their systems now. Thanks for all the well wishes.

I spent all day yesterday playing catch up so I missed comment on a lot of things. New cars, sick relatives, birthdays. I'm sorry, but yesterday was a 60 page day and I didn't keep up so well :rolleyes1

So here's some :wizard: :grouphug: :bounce: For everyone. And if those don't fit you then how about this one :wave2: .

Have a great day.

Deb

Tips for travelers who hold tickets on Delta Air Lines or Comair for travel during the next month or who may be considering traveling during that time:

Use credit cards to pay for tickets. If the flight is canceled because of labor disruption, you can dispute the charges with the credit card company and then rebook on another flight.

Know your rights. If you demand it, an airline that cancels a flight because of a labor action must provide a full refund. Otherwise, the airline must try to rebook you on another airline for a $50 fee.

Be open to other options. It could be hard initially to get a flight on another airline directly out of Cincinnati, which doesn't have much service other than Delta and Comair. And the flights out of CVG are already full, you would be on the bottom of the list for standby. So if possible, be flexible and prepared to travel to one of the five surrounding airports.

Travel insurance. You can protect your trip against a strike only for flights exclusively on Delta. That's because travel insurance companies stopped protecting against a Comair strike because of the positive strike authorization vote, which made the risk a known quantity. And the Delta pilots are expected to return their strike authorization vote on April 4. As for a policy against full financial default by Delta and/or Comair, it's too late. The companies' bankruptcy filings made such an event a known risk as well.

Ooh, that's good to know. I love angel food cake plain. Becky & Chuck add white frosting to theirs.

I'd love the recipe for the Resurrection Cookies.

I had never seen the eggs that tell the Easter story until Christopher attended an Easter party last yeer. Thanks for reminding me to go look for them. I'm going to get my hair cut and colored tomorrow :woohoo: so I'll go look right after!

I guess the hard part is that Christopher is the only little one in our family and we always go to my MIL's house for Easter. He hunts by himself, but it's just not the same as having a group. I really need to come up with something special for an "only" child. I saw the yarn thing too. It was way complicated. We're going to make the tie-dye eggs (Kristine, I'll be thinking of you).

Have you considered doing a neighborhood Easter egg hunt? This is what my sister does. Each family prepares eggs so each child in the neighborhood could find "X" number of eggs. It's kind of a progressive thing. They start at one end of the circle, and hunt in that yard, have a snack or a craft, and then move on to the next house. It's really a cute thing.

For our Easter bonnet parade, we use paper plates and bowls for the hats, and let the kids color and glue and decorate using any craft items we have on hand.

I also have a few Easter movies like "Peter Cottontail", "The Easter Bunny is Coming to Town," and "It's the Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown." For our older kids we have more religious things for them to watch. I spread those out in the days before Easter at bedtime to make it more special. I also go to bookstores and each year I buy one new Easter book (I also do this at Christmas and Halloween), so we have quite a collection of holiday books that only get brought out once a year for the kids to read. Same with the movies. After the holiday they get put away for the year. Makes them more exciting when they get brought out again.

I'll keep trying to think of more things for you today. I'm going to bowling and I can ask the ladies in the league what they do.

Thanks Tammi!!! This helps me a lot!!!

I think I will try to still book w/ Kate, that way if something happens we aren't alone in trying to figure out what to do. That and I definitely think the buddy system will work best for me-I know I sound like a big dork but I've never travelled by myself before, my luck the flight would be cancelled or something else and I wouldn't know what to do. I would end up on an episode of Airline  !!! Hopefully everything will work out fine and no one will have to worry about all of this!!!!

Thanks Again!!!

When I die I want to come back as your kid. :teeth:

That's so sweet! You are welcome to come join in our holiday fun! I just want to make so many happy memories that they will forget the times that I yell at them like a banshee!

My mom and dad made all holidays special, even little ones like Memorial Day were huge for us. They were family times, and that's what I remember most about my childhood.

Good morning....

I am drowning in college paperwork for my son...it is sooo tedious & boring!!

Me too! She has twins, so she can handle us both.

I'll take you both! However, you have to bring your kids along as well. They are so darling I want to get to know the triplets, and Nicholas and Alyssa as well.

By the way, that goes for all the DDA'er and families!

Hey Tammi...

What did you decide to do after you arrive? I am going to head into one of the parks...

Speaking of Tinkerbell, Have any of you read Peter and the Starcatchers by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson. It is really good book and is a prequel to Peter Pan. It explains how Peter meets Cap'n Hook and Smee and how Tinkerbell comes to be. It also explains how Hook lost his hand and many other things. I recommend you read it.

Becky

LOVE THAT BOOK!!!!! I read it to my son, and he loved it, too!

You want to hear sick? I took the kids to lunch at Moe's Southwest Grill today for the first time. I ordered two hard Ugly Naked Guys before I realized what I had said! They have strange names for all of their food, and the Ugly Naked guy is a bean taco (available in either soft or hard shell).

Beth
:lmao: DH loves Moe's.

We do this too!! But it's only Easter and Christmas....which reminds me I still have to buy the book. Which ones do you have? I will say that my Easter book collection is pitiful compared to the Christmas ones.

I saw the eggs that tell the Easter story at our Wal-Mart the other day. There was a special display of religious items for Easter. We use those at our church egg hunt. I like them.

Beth
Thanks. I skimmed over their Easter aisle the other day and didn't notice them, but I'll check again.

Hurricane season is scaring me, too. Predictions that I've heard are better than last year but still very active. I'm hoping for :wizard: for our trip and for everyone that is truly affected by hurricanes. I feel shallow worrying about the trip when there are so many with much more valid worries. But at the same time, I'm hoping for a magical trip, since it may be the last for a while.

Beth
It's scaring me too, but for different reasons. My section will probably be on Aug. 28th or 29th. Last year Katrina hit here on Aug. 29th!

I get in at 11:30 am...Tammi gets in at 1:30 pm, I think. Not sure about Marti. I know were were going to have dinner at either Kona or O'Hanna...can't remember. And then we were doing something after you guys get in..maybe DTD?
I can't remember what I did with the schedule...but I think Friday am was MGM w/adr at Prime time. I think MK in the evening.

Sat: 8:30 am segway tour at Epcot - you better go make a reservation for that, I think there were 6 spaces left when I had called..

Sunday, AK...I will be gone. my flight is pretty early.
